Samsung 40gb hard drive
Review of Samsung SpinPoint SP4002H 40 GB by  Rabid

Advantages: Fast and silent
Disadvantages: None

...7 weeks ago i had an IBM hard drive die on me whilst my PC was booting up, it made lots of clicking sounds and failed to load into windows, trying to keep my temper i rushed down to my local PC world to see what i could pick up as i didnt want to be without my PC for more than a few hours. I decided upon buying the Samsung 40gb as it matched the spec of my previous IBM perfectly and my old hard drive was fine for what i needed it for until it packed up somewhat prematurely. The main spec of the Samsung is as follows... 40 gig storage space 7200 RPM 8.9 ms seek time UDMA/ATA 100 2mb buffer It also came with 2 features that my old IBM didnt... Noiseguard Impacguard The noise guard reduces noise output from the drive (makes it quieter) and impac guard means the hard drive is less susceptable to being damaged... Read review

Creative Zen Xtra 40/60Gb Nomad jukebox
Review of Creative Nomad Jukebox ZEN XTRA 40 GB by  galee74

Advantages: looks amazing, good features, space and light. great sound quality
Disadvantages: scroll buttona bit annoying sometimes, battery life a little short

...I purchased tis model-albeit the 60gb version in what must be over 3/4 years ago now...at the time it was the newst, biggest etc. and although it wasn't as dear as the popularised ipods it is FAr better i reckon. I've borrowed an ipod so i can compare and i'd say without doubt this is the best mp3 player i've ever owned/borrowed/used etc. 40 Gb or 60 if you have the one i have,is a LOT of memory to play with for songs...i have over 1390 songs on mine and there is still lots of space left...considering i buy a lot of albums and put them on the nomad-i still believe it will last me for life-the sound quailty is superb(even with dodgy OLD mp3 songs), its very sturdy and hard wearing and mine is still going strong after 3 or 4 years and despite being dropped on several occassions still works as new! It has only crashed once in 4 years... Read review

The Zen Touch 40GB, a serious contender
Review of Creative Zen Touch 40 GB by  Tiptop_condition

Advantages: Battery life, sound quality, durability, compatibilty
Disadvantages: Size, menu system

...With all the fuss about Ipods, its easy to overlook anything offered by other manufacturers. However, i urge you to look at what creative has to offer. I bought the creative zen touch 20gb originally, but i was so impressed that i upgraded to the 40gb later. There are one or tow flaws or improvements which i would mention later, but all in all I have been incredibly impressed with this mp3 player. Firstly, the sound quality. I've used this with both cheap headphones, expensive headphones, hi-fi speakers and car stereos, and I cannot fault the sound quality. In the specifications it states that the signal to noise ratio is up to 97dB. It layman's terms this means that the signal from the Mp3 track that ends up as music as opposed to "noise" or background fuzziness is very very high. This means that even at high volume, the quality... Read review

Western Digital 400BB Caviar 40GB Hard Drive
Review of Western Digital Caviar WD400BB 40 GB by  positivereflect

Advantages: Fast read/write, 7200rpm spindle speed
Disadvantages: Only 2mb data buffer, Only supports upto ATA100

...Having already owned several western digital hard drives before, i knew these would be pretty reliable. Installation was fairly easy - four screws, one data cable, and one power cable connection. The bios on the motherboard recognised the drive perfectly. Once installed and setup, i noticed the difference over my old hard drive straight away. The boot up speed was a lot quicker and i once again had space for all my bits and pieces(after i had sorted windows out). (just for reference my old drive was a 20gb 2mb Cache 5400rpm). For any one not into the techie side of things, the faster the spindle speed and the bigger the cache size, the Faster the drive. Although 40gb doesnt sound very big compared to the other sizes available, you can still hold a lot of information on a drive of this size.... Read review

Multimedia on the move Archos AV700 (40GB)
Review of Archos AV700 Mobile Digital Video Recorder 40 GB by  nick979

Advantages: Everything you could want apart from a phone!!
Disadvantages: Earphones might be a proble for some people

.... This might be a problem for some people though, although you could use your favourite earphones. Most shops will demonstrate the machine for you, I am very please with my purchase and I am only sorry that I didn't but the 100GB instead. I think I might upgrade at some point in the future.... Creative Zen Touch 20GB MP3
Review of Creative Zen Touch 40 GB by  madferit76

Advantages: Tiny, Compact and easy to Use
Disadvantages: Battery Life is non existant at times

...The Strengths of this Mp3 is a Great design, excellent sound quality, simple to use, great value for the price The Weaknesses: Not as many "extras" as other players, touchpad is a little hard to get used to I decided to buy myself an early Christmas present and get an MP3 player. First, I had to decide if I wanted a flash-memory-based player or a hard-drive based. I decided didn't need it for workouts or active movements and wanted more space, so I ruled out the flash-based players. Then, I had to decide between the 4-5 GB players and the 20-40 GB players. For the 4-5GB players I considered the Ipod Mini, and the Creative Zen Micro. I think if I had gone for the 4-5GB players, I would have bought the Creative Zen Micro. But, I ultimately decided to go for the 20-40GB because I wanted to fit my entire CD collection... Read review

Thunderous Sonic Firestorm!
Review of Sonic Firestorm (Remastered And Expanded) - Dragonforce by  MinutesAlone

Advantages: Full of amazing tracks, cool elements that aren't found in others' music
Disadvantages: There are only 9 tracks in an album

...Dragonforce, Long haired boys, known for their killing guitar solos, effects, explosive drums are back with their sophomore 'Sonic Firestorm' after their 2003's moderate success of album 'Valley of Damned' Sonic Firestorm is actually a great album. They've kept their speed metal genre online in this album too, there are pretty cool tracks, like always their representative music, lightining fast guitars and earthshaking drums followed by ZP's powerful raw vocals creates a huge splash in listener's mind.Sonic Firestorm is a perfect example of extreme speed metal but it isn't really a paragon,it's adequate and original though. Herman-Li's lightining fast solos and Zp's powerful vocals has given their music a concrete shape! Dragonforce became the band whose song was downloaded most in Mp3.com which is fair enough and must explain... Read review

Firestorm - Thunderhawk 2
Review of Thunderhawk 2 - Firestorm (PC) by  thespurs

Advantages: Great gameplay, good graphics, good variety
Disadvantages: Not hugely realistic

...need to do is change the weapon, fire it and manoeuvre the chopper around. As far as these games go, the controls on this one are incredibly easy to pick up. --Conclusion-- I would certainly recommend getting hold of this game if you can. It may be very difficult to come across, although if you check on eBay every so often I'm sure it will come up for sale. It is immensely enjoyable and it will last you for a good three to four weeks of solid play. The levels have variety but they aren't too hard to complete. The game has a wide appeal; most male gamers would enjoy the game as it has a bit of everything. Firestorm: Thunderhawk 2 is published by Core Games, although it is sometimes called Thunderhawk 2: Firestorm. It is available on the Playstation and for the PC.... Read review

Toshiba G40 delivers
Review of Toshiba gigabeat MEG-F40 40 GB by  cfordg23

Advantages: Versatility with updated firmware from Toshiba
Disadvantages: Clunky navigation, distortion of certain equalizer settings

...FXA 32 laptop), I thought the installation of RockBox software might resolve issues I had with iTunes, but found to my pleasant surprise that by loading CD's (albums) that I had ripped with archived files, Gracenote recognized about 70% of them without having to list the files individually (i.e. "matched" them), but was no big deal. In fact, you can really make up an album name and list whatever archived files you want and install the tunes into the Gigabeat Room software. The bottom line is that I've been able rip CD's without issue. Sure, the navigating is clunky, but considering the wasted time spent with the iPod, am pleased that my major objectives were met with the Toshiba F40. I may try to install RockBox eventually, if it's as it's cracked up to be, but for now, am satisfied with this unit as is.... Read review
