Happy Customer at the Regent
Advantages: Lovely modern rooms & wonderful breakfast
Disadvantages: Room slightly smaller than expacted
...I went to the Regent Hotel in February 08 for a 2 night stay. I found the hotel after endless hotel searches in Ambleside which seemed to all bring up dated, old-fashioned looking hotels which weren't what we wanted. The Regent offered a refreshing alternative with modern looking bedroom, all recently refurbished. We paid £300 for 2nights bed and breakfast for 2 people.
The hotel was easy to find and was right near Lake Windermere as promised. We managed to park the car easily in the car-park, although we did notice that once everyone had checked in for the day the car-park looked rather full. It was only a short walk from where we parked to the reception, we only had small weekend bags but wouldn't have had a problem with suitcases.
The staff were friendly on arrival and were efficient and quick in finding our key and getting us to...

The Regent Hotel, Doncaster
Advantages: Fantastic rooms, friendly staff and Great food
Disadvantages: Limited Wifi reception
...The Regent Hotel is located in the heart of Doncaster and is very easily accessable by car or rail. I travelled by rail and it was just a short 10 minute walk through the town centre to the hotel.
Check-in was a fantastic experience and it was all ready prior to arrival and there was no need to fill in my address etc as it was all done, it was just a case of 2 signatures and off to my room.
The room i stayed in was a double room for single occupancy and the room was fantastic. It was spacous and very well decorated, and looked recently decorated. The en-suite bathroom was very clean with a very powerful shower over the bath. A range of goodies were available in the bathroom including shampoo and shower gel.
the electrical fittings in the room were a chrome finish which gave the room a nice feel, that coupled with a huge double bed...

Regents Park Marriott Hotel
Advantages: comfortable and clean
Disadvantages: poor leisure club and not very child friendly
...I stay in Marriott Hotels regularly and have been doing so for the past ten years or so. They are always my preference and the Regents Park Marriott Hotel is always the Marriott that I prefer to stay in when I stay in a hotel in London. I have stayed in there quite a few times (not sure exactly how many) but up until this weekend I had never stayed in there with my family. I have stayed there for business, I have stayed there with friends when we wanted a big night out in London and now I've also stayed there with my family for a family weekend (including children) in London. Every time I had a wonderful stay in a lovely but unfortunately I don't think that it's the most family friendly place, especially when you compare it to other Marriotts (particularly the Swansea and Swindon Marriott's).

The hotel has recently had a major refurbishment and offers a Residents bar, two public bars, four conference/Function Rooms and a Restaurant. It is also located just on the fringe of Doncaster?s town centre on the eastern edge and is ideally located for fine shopping in the Frenchgate shopping centre, the markets and Doncaster racecourse (10 minute walk), home of the legendary St Leger and Lincoln Handicap. PRINCE REGENT'S (SOMEWHAT LESS THAN) HUMBLE ABODE
Advantages: A Very Colourful Slice of History. Lavish Interior. Extraordinary Architecture. Superb NEW Audio Guide
Disadvantages: Poor Ventilation - Over Hot, especially in summer.
...the fine detail and explaination on the guide. Not only are the contents, design and building of the palace explained, but also there are many anecdotes about the Prince Regent and his guests who stayed here, or like us, were mere visitors to his court.
We obtained far more of the "flavour", atmosphere if you like, of the place with this new Audio guide and, more importantly, our young Polish guest understood every word of it.
If not transforming your visit, this new guide is a great aid to it and really enhances the overall visitor experience.
HISTORY
Why you are asking, would I leave this, the undoubted jewel in Brighton's crown so long before writing a review about it? Well, for a start I needed a refresher, it is just over a year since I last visited the Royal Pavilion, on that occasion with my (then) 10 year old sister in law...

A Prince and reality?
Advantages: wasted an hour when i was hungover
Disadvantages: a waste of an hour i could have been doing something else
...that Paige is a very focussed young woman the sort who puts off people by being focussed to the exclusion of anything else.
Eddie (Prince Edvard of Denmark) is a playboy prince he has no focus and does nothing except have fun to the chargin of his parents and delight of the paparazzi. Until he decides he needs to get away and discover himself, in of all the places Winsconsin.
So he enrolls at the college that Paige attends and running in to her early earns her dislike. She is dismayed when he becomes her lab partner in her main Chemistry class.
But after she gives him a piece of her mind about his 'spoilt little rich kid' ways he decides to change (anyone else find his skinny body a total turn off?), starting with a job at the bar in which she also works. This is his way to win her over.
Predictably he achieves this as she...

Regent Street
Advantages: Hamleys
Disadvantages: Too many people, too much traffic
...If you haven't been to London before, then go to Regent Street. Less chain-store oriented than Oxford Street, its best feature is easily Hamleys, with over 5 floors of toys and games. There is a great ice-cream shop close to the Piccadilly Circus end, as well as Cheers bar, themed on the American TV show, and lots of specialist shops like the Apple store, and Liberty's is just round the corner. However, if you've been to London before, then avoid this street, as it is always packed with people, and Saturdays are a complete nightmare. There are many better places to see, and I much prefer the streets leading off it, like Carnaby, which have more interesting shops, and are a lot less manic....

Marriott Style in Regents Park
Advantages: Courteous staff, good location for accessing central London
Disadvantages: Small room, touch-and-take minibar, prolonged check-in process
...When my mother, sister, daughter, and I were planning our trip to England for March 2002, we included an overnight stay in London at the beginning of our holiday. We wanted something near the city center that would be handy to transportation and, thanks to my husband's willingness to contribute his Marriott points to our cause, we wanted a Marriott hotel. More specifically, we wanted a room suitable for four adult travelers. The nearest match to our requirements and the availability of a room through the Marriott Rewards program was a room at the Marriott Regents Park.
In most respects, the Marriott Regents Park is a typical representative of its kind. With 303 rooms in a 7-story building, the hotel includes an onsite restaurant and cocktail lounge, small gift shop, concierge and laundry services, barber and hair stylist...

The Prince Of Tides : A glimpse into a tortured childhood
Advantages: Very well acted, absorbing, intense, shocking in parts
Disadvantages: A little mawkish at the end
...of the storyline away, but I'll speak a little about my own feelings on The Prince Of Tides.
I watched this film on the recommendation of a friend, and I was a little apprehensive because my friend's and my own tastes in films, music etc. doesn't always coincide, but when she told me this was about delving into the history of a deeply dysfunctional family, I decided to give it a watch - at the time I was going through some counselling myself, dealing with a few of my own childhood issues, and I thought it may be something I could perhaps identify with.
I settled alone one evening to watch The Prince Of Tides, and as the film rolled on and got into the storyline, my eyes were becoming more firmly glued to the screen. I found one or two parts of it touched a little too close for comfort on a couple of my own childhood experiences, but that was...
