What the soon-to-retire guards (Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs) don't tell him is that an ancient pharaoh's tablet in the museum causes everything on display to come to life at night. Thus, Larry meets representations of Teddy Roosevelt, Attila the Hun, fire-worshipping cavemen, and Roman Empire soldiers, and learns to cope with an excitable T-Rex and man-eating, ancient animals. The film might have left things at that, but an added story element gives Night at the Museum some extra urgency and excitement, especially for kids: Larry becomes responsible for keeping this nightly miracle going and preventing anything in the museum from dying due to exposure to sunrise. Computer effects, as well as wildly imaginative costumes and makeup, help make the film appeal to the 8-year-old in everyone. The crew go to look for Lady Priscilla Spenda-Pennie - the famous English poet. She is found dead, slumped against the toilet in the ladies room on the top deck. Is it murder? A big, jolly man with red ruddy cheeks (from too much port and fine food). Lola La Rue: A thirty something dancer and former glamour girl, Lola styles herself on a blonde 50's movie star. Dr Mahatma Cote: Famous Indian heart surgeon taking time out from his busy workload and charities. Suave, sophisticated and with an excellent bedside manner, he charms all. Rene Roulette: Lady luck is always on Rene's side. She is the croupier in the casino and is blonde, buxom and is from London's East End. Tony Tortellini: Italian food exporter who is very wealthy. He is typically Italian - very passionate, fiery and hot headed. Candy Cane: Lady Candice Cane is the best friend of Lady Priscilla. She likes to be known as Candy and is heiress to a chocolate and sweet empire. Goalio: Brazilian footballer turned manager and husband of Lady Candy. Sheikh Mustafa Pea: Arabic shipping magnate and hotelier. He owns the Diamond Princess and regularly travels onboard.
