Epson Stylus C62 - OK to a point

Advantages: Low Price - Photo Quality
Disadvantages: Very Temperamental - No Edge-to-edge printing

It dithers for so long before printing some times you often think it's stopped working. The print heads clog continually. Use anything but the expensive Epson black and colour cartridges and you are in for nothing but poor prints and clogged print heads. Even with Epson cartridges I have had problems. If you are using anything but standard printer paper, again, the printer often gets confused and thinks there is either a paper jam or that there is no paper in there - using even very thin cardboard or photo paper causes these problems, things that a modern printer should be able to handle effortlessly. Advantages: Robust and Cheap
Disadvantages: Drinks ink especially non Epson Cartridges

...Epson can charge a lot more for the cartridges. It also makes it difficult for cartridges to be refilled as special equipment is required to reset the chips. This printer has an improvement which was an annoyance on the earlier C42. When the C42 cartridges decided they were empty the printer refused to print. The C62 shows the cartridges as being empty but will allow you to carry on printing until the cartridges are really empty. I've tried several makes of third party cartridges from good quality manufacturers but found that the printer does not like them. Epson's printer driver gives you a warning when you replace a cartridge with a non Epson original. I've had one third party cartridge that emptied after 2 weeks and printing less than 10 pages. The woe of an Epson C62:

Advantages: OK as an all round printer
Disadvantages: Really noisy ink guzzler / expensive tanks

...My Epson C62 printer started to give me trouble about six months after purchasing it so I contacted Epson, after a few tests with their technical team and after wasting a vast amount of ink from their genuine ink tanks I was advised to take it to a local Epson dealer. "Print heads" said the dealer as though I had been printing on sandpaper....! He duly give me a replacement and literally threw the C62 straight into the nearest bin, I repeat " threw it", the replacement was of course minus the ink tanks and when I got home minus the guarantee and receipt of purchase documents. The problem was black lines on picture with a yellow cast about 1" from the left hand side and along the bottom of the picture, as though in a frame. The normal black & white text consisted of either blue or red straight lines through the text...

T0715 for Epson printers

Advantages: cheaper to buy 4 but can also buy singly
Disadvantages: you have to look around for the cheapest as prices do vary

...We have a very good Epson DX6000 printer. This printer takes 4 separate inks. This comes in handy when just one colour gets low. I know its low because when I go to do some printing I will get a low ink flashing sign come up and it will then show me how much ink is left and roughly how much copying I can do before it finally runs out. It will also tell me which ink is low. I print off a lot of photographs so it is not just the black ink that runs out but the coloured ones as well. When we first had the printer we did notice that some non epson inks were cheaper and we did think of buying them. We were then informed that if we used these on this printer that was still under guarantee they might refuse to honour the guarantee as we had not used their own brand of ink. ...This product is definetely a good option among ink jet printers, Printing quality is good for pictures and documents. The ink cartridges for the printer are quite cheap and last quite a long time depending how often you print. Another good thing is that when you install the printer and the software provided, there are maintenance options provided with software which enable you to do such tasks as do a nozzle check (use this if gaps or faint lines appear in your print out), head clenaing (use this if your print quailty declines) and print head alignment (use this if misaligned vertical lines appear in your print out) i have never had to use any of these maintenance tasks !! The only problem i have ever come across is a paper jam but there is a button on the printer which solves this problem easily !! The only disadvantage...

C62 is OK But..... There are better printers

Advantages: Good styling
Disadvantages: The peizo ink jet heads, ink wastage

...I bought a C62 as my first printer, 6 monthes down the line I had to return it to a local Epson agent, because on plain black text, it left squiggly blue broken lines, and sometimes a broken red line.... "the print head" said the dealer, to much of my amazement he threw it in a nearby rubbish bin, and handed me a replacement ( minus ink cartridges). What I did not realise is that he did not hand the receipt back, I thought he had put in the box. Guess what, the heads have started to require continous cleaning and Epson cartridges are not cheap, personally I put it down to the type of jets used, these are not thermal jets. Epson seems to be of no help, inspite of having the old and new replacement regestration documents. I am in the process of doing what the dealer did. No cheating with this Epson Cheetah!

...Printers are marvellous things when they work!We bought an Epson DX4000 a couple of years ago after problems with our HP printer. It was reduced in Tesco and as it is a photo copier and printer we thought it was a bargain but decided to check out the cost of the cartridges before buying. We have used various makes of cartridges over the years for previous printers but had been having problems and always having to clean to get good printing so we were wasting ink. We got sample size cartridges with the printer but bought a Multipack so we were ready when a replacement was needed. The Multipack has 4 cartridges, 1 of each black, yellow, magenta and cyan. The box is blue with a picture of a Cheetah and is in the Cheetah range, there are other ranges like Monkey. Hummingbird and Seahorse makinh it easy to spot the one you want to buy...
