Privilege Insurance - Apalling and inefficient customer service

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Poor service generally; pedantic; lack of response to complaints; ridiculous hold times

...I had always driven Company Cars until last November when I was made redundant and purchased my own car and insurance for the first time. Privilege were the cheapest quote I found. I set up the policy on line and was advised that I could have a no claims discount if I provided proof from my previous employer's insurer that I had made no claims. I requested this via my employer but it was not forthcoming and I contacted Privilege in Jan 09 to advise them that I had not deliberately 'overlooked' this but was having difficulty due to the redundancy circumstances. They then cancelled my policy in February. At this point I was fairly sanguine as I had not provided the proof. I reinstated the policy with zero no claims on the understanding that when I managed to obtain proof of no claims I would receive a backdated refund of the difference...

What a privilege!

Advantages: Characterisation, description, exciting read
Disadvantages: made me cry :( not for the weak-hearted or squeamish

...Having read and enjoyed all of the Grant County series previously, I had very high expectations of this book. Skin Privilege has a similar structure to the other books in the series, and focuses on one particular case, which turns out to be more complicated than it first seems. It takes place mostly outside of Grant County, with the three main characters (Jeffrey, Sara and Lena) all being based in Lena's hometown of Reece. Karin Slaughter continues to develop the characters fantastically, and her writing gives a real sense of closeness to the people, and their relationship to one another. Personally, I have never liked Lena, but this book really shows a different side to her which made her chapters a lot more exciting and interesting to read, whereas previously I would only skim through her chapters. It's a Privilege to have good insurance.

Advantages: Low cost, swift claims handling
Disadvantages: Minor niggles with paperwork not being filled in correctly

...I used to have a car insurance policy with Direct Line (same company as Privilege) but when I had a high quote two years ago, I shopped around. Privilege gave me protected no claims, guaranteed hire car and legal protection for about £70 less than my original quote. I must admit, there were a few niggles - when I moved house they changed my address but not my postcode, when I changed my car they changed the make and model but not the colour. Nothing a quick phone call couldn't sort out. The real test came in Feb. this year, when another woman decided to drive straight into the back of me. This resulted in damage to my car, and myself and my daughter in agony with whiplash injuries. Luckily we were both on half term holiday, and had time to sort the claim out and rest for a week. It was a "Privilege" to read this book

Advantages: It was really interesting
Disadvantages: so interesting i didn't want go to sleep

...Well let me tell you how I first 'stumbled' on this book. I'd heard, like many of you would have, that ?A child called 'it' was an amazing book and I though ok, let me go and get it to. So I went to the library and I couldn't find it. The lady said it had already been taken out, but she said, ?A privilege of youth? was here and I could take it and that's how I ended up reading this book before the others. I would like to say this book is absolutely amazing and that is not an exaggeration. I enjoyed every minute of that book and I?m picking with books. I couldn't put it down, I just wanted to keep reading and I would stay up saying 'just one more page' or 'ok let me finish this chapter.' The book was full of so much emotion, that you just knew that it was all true. It never ceases to amaze me how he was able to pass across so much...

Privelige Insurance worst service ever

Advantages: Low Price
Disadvantages: No service, cannot get through to customer service, information incorrect after 3 attempts

...After 12 years with Direct Line, I changed to Privilege, same company, cheaper price. My wife had a no fault accident, tried to speak to someone on a mobile phone following the accident, constantly being passed around, left for over four and a half hours on the side of the road waiting for the car to be recovered. The phone bill exceeded £7.00, problems getting through to customer services, as per other reviewer's comment's, kept being passed around each passing the buck. Three weeks later, still waiting for a response to my complaint letter. Be advised the company also is part of the Direct Line and Green Flag group. If they agree for the vehicle to be recovered it will be Green Flag, if you try to contact customer services, you sit in Direct Lines insurance quotation queue and pay for it. ...I received 2 years worth of insurance with Privilege when I purchased my new Nissan in the Summer of 1999. And mightily impressed with them I have been. Obviously I have no premium to pay but when I asked them for a quote ready for when my free insurance ran out they were easily the best quote I received. My insurance package from Nissan allowed me to add up to £1,000 of extras to my car, and notifying them was a quick and painless experience. A quick phone call to their 0800 number, telling them what was being added, and handing over my debit card number for an administration fee of £40 and it was all done and dusted. No problems at all. Hire car crime area - but...

Advantages: Cheap and easy
Disadvantages: can't think of any

...Privilege came up trumps for me. I was getting quotes for over £400 a year from people like Direct Line, AA, Diamond, Norwich Union. But with Privilege, the bill came to just £276 at around £23 per month. Living in Oldham - famous for its car theft - I needed a break. Privilege gave me one. I got my quote on-line (which gives another 10% discount) and - ok, so their web site crashed when I tried to proceed, but I just called them up, told them what had happened and they were only too happy to complete the transaction over the phone, with the 10% online discount. Very friendly, very quick, it will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year - will it go up - will it not....

Ouch! How Much?

...I recently took out car insurance through Tesco Direct, which is underwritten by Privilege Insurance. Not only were the tele sales-staff very polite and helpful, the procedure was reasonably quick over the telephone and you didn't have to wait for 20 minutes before connection. The product was fully comprehensive with all the usual benefits we have come to expect, e.g. recovery, hire car, etc. The cost compared very favourably with other quotes (RAC £982, Hastings Direct £732) but as we all should know by now, its very much horses for courses according to what type of business mix the company is aiming for. The documents arrived within three days, and when I complained that they were incorrectly dated I was offered compensation which duly arrived within 10 days.
