Advantages: Excellent graphics, better commentary then Pro Evo 6 Disadvantages: Still licence issues
...I am a lifelong ProEvo fan - owning every single release dating back to the original, and knew that I had to buy this new release. After purchasing ProEvo2008 last year, I instantly knew that Konami had bettered themselves, even after the success of ProEvo 6.
Once you load the game and get to the starting screen, you will be pleased to see that the menu's are better laid out and the different options are more accessible. The game is better updated and has more correct players and teams than last year, but there are still licencing issues which mean that some teams are still incorrect (Wales, Czech Republic, etc). This is something you have to come to terms with if you are to buy any game in the ProEvo series. As for the game modes, there is no real difference between this release and the previous one. I felt that if this...
Advantages: Innovative controls, great new champions road, reliable online Disadvantages: fairly average/poor graphics
...Well, being an avid FIFA player for the last 8 years I wasn't as excited about this title as many others were as i had never played a 'proevo' game in my life! However i didn't know just how wrong i was! This games is immersive, fun and you can pick it up and play at any time which are all the qualities i love in a game!
Okay, we'll start with the negatives just to get them out of the way! :)
Firstly, although I never buy a game for the graphics and the Wii isn't known for its graphical realism, the game could look a lot better. You can see the resemblance between famous players and their game counterparts but work on this for the next edition is necessary (especially on body sizes).
My second gripe is that there is no option to make transfers (although there is another method of acquiring new players which is explained further...
Advantages: Very enjoyable, improved graphics and AI Disadvantages: Xbow Live is poor, still very little licensing for teams
...similar to your rank
Xbox Live
PES2008 offers full online capability with the player able to choose the game setting they would prefer to play and then searching for opponents of similar rank. This adds another aspect to the game of playing against other gamers rather than always competing against the AI. However, this is one of the biggest let downs for PES2008. The lag is awful and has not really been addressed since its release. With the only the odd case of lag on bigger multi-players such as Halo3, then this is a large disappointment for most ProEvo fans. Most of the games I have played online have been ruined, with the ball appearing behind your defence a split second after you have just battled for it in the midfield. If you are purchasing the game purely for the Live capability I suggest you steer clear.
Grievances...
Advantages: Another great game in the series - Lots of teams great gameplay Disadvantages: XBOX 360 is pushed to the limit gets very hot and loud
...In my opinion ProEvo has well and truly stole Fifa's title as the must have football game on consoles. There's nothing much new in this edition and it's a bit annoying that not all the premiership teams have the correct badges and kits because Fifa still own the exclusive rights to them (only until 2010 though) but the graphics are great and the selection of teams is huge.
I bough the 360 version before I got my PS3 but I wish I'd got it on the Playstation now, the graphics are just as good and it plays the same, but there's just something about the Playstation version that feels better, maybe it's the fact it was exclusive on PS2 for so long and everyone got used to the button configuration.
There's a few more options than the last version and the bonus with the 360 version is that the online content is much better.
It still...
Advantages: Great football game for any fan! Disadvantages: quitre expensive still
...Each year Konami release a new version of the famous football game, which was released at the end of october 2007. And once again it has been pu to the test against its arch rival - Fifa 08. I have once again remained a strong follower of the proevo series and bought this game as soon as it was released despite many people trying to persuade me to go to the 'other side' and buy Fifa. Was this the year that fifa took the lead?
I have to say that i am confident i made the right decision and have seen several improvements from last year's game and have enjoyed this game loads, it was certainly worth buying.
This game has had many improvements from its predecessor and has certainly been upgraded quite a lot. Firstly the graphics have greatly improved with facial features getting more and more realistic, as well as the whole player along...
Advantages: Excellent realism and gameplay. Disadvantages: Team names and players still missing.
...Division 3. It's just so great to see Millwall taking the top spot and seeing off Chelsea with ease. It just doesn't get much better.
Conclusion
That is the main reason I didn't give Pro Evolution 5/5 stars. The game is great it cannot be denied but for me I think I would have to buy Fifa 2008 just for the fact that they have all licences etc for a proper game of football.
Then saying that I have just bought both games and I keep finding myself drawn towards Pro Evolution.
I think my conclusion has to be...buy both. For a quick kick around with a mate of a proper competion with a couple it just has to be ProEvo. But for when you're on your own the masterleague just can't cut it, I'm afraid and you just have to play Fifa 2008....
Advantages: Fast-paced, multiplayer fun, hours of enjoyment Disadvantages: Strangely disappointing for the hardcore fans
...The age old question thats been plaguing mankind for a decade. FIFA or ProEvo? Well this year, it's a close contest.
In my opinion, the PES series has been the stronger contender of the two games in recent years, leading to a borderline addiction.
But this year, surprisingly, I have put down the pad and decided to write this review instead. For some reason, the game has slightly lost its charm.
The graphics are very good with some very realistic player likenesses and an edit mode to correct any anomalies should you wish. The main drawback on the visual side is that the game still has FAILED to obtain a license for several national teams and for 90% of the FA Premier League. However, if all your after if for a football game that plays well and feels to some extent real, then this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
The gameplay...
...of this game is the edit mode you can upload your picture on to the game then edit it in to your created player and it looks just like me.:)

I waited for "Pro Evolution Soccer 2008" for 3 days after its release. My university assignments were making trouble in the way. I know 3 days are not too long enough but for this game, it made me mad. Because, PES 2008 version was the first release on PS3 console. I was thinking of the changes they might have made. But finally after my assignments were done, I straight away went to high street to buy some games, of which PES 2008 was on top priority. I couldn't wait to play this game.
The first time I turned on the game it made me feel bad about this game. I didn't liked the start menu, it was too colorful having big fonts. I don't know why they don't try to enhance their menu system.
And it looks even stranger in my big 60" inch HD TV. At that moment it was coming into my mind, "FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE LAST IMPRESSION"?. If...
