Sandisk Extreme III 1Gb, photographers choice.
Review of SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash by
benzas
Advantages: Excellent speed, no failures
Disadvantages: More expensive than comparative memory
...I use a Minolta 5D camera, which i love, and this card complements it perfectly.
The card is rated at 133x speed (20Mb/s) which is blisteringly fast. You can transfer the contents of the entire card to your computer in about a minute (~16Mb/s).
The 133x refers to the standardised speed of transferring with a cd-rom, hence 1x is 150Kb/s for reference.
The benefit of using a card this fast is that it will allow your camera to take pictures in continuous/burst mode as fast as the camera is capable of (unless you are using a Pro level camera like a canon 1D or nikon D2Xs), my camera sustains a speed of 2 fps (frames per second) after the buffer is full, and this is limited by the cameras electronics rather than the card.
The price of these has also dropped a lot since release, and even more so now as the extreme IV series has been...

New super MB from ABIT
Review of Abit Socket 370 VH6 - motherboard - ATX - Pro133A by
skul
Advantages: All new features, possibility of use all Intel Socket 370 CPU's, built-in quality sound
Disadvantages: none
...This new motherboard from ABIT support both Intel Celeron and Pentium III FCPGA (Coppermine) processors. Based on VIA Appolo Pro 133A chipset, this ATX formfactor motherboard have 1 AGP 4x, 5 PCI and 1 ISA slots. Also equipped with Yamaha sound chip with software midi syntesizer and 2 IDE IDMA/66 ports.
I bought this motherboard week ago and very pleased by its design, quality and performance. Very good for overclocking and stable in any Windows applications (both Me and 2000). My Celeron 400 MHz work at 500 Mhz (83MHZx6) without any problems also in games like Need for Speed 5 and Unreal Tournament.
So, this mainboard include all new features and is the best choice for home use (especially due to possibility of CPU's upgrade up to 1GHz)....

Fast Access SD Card
Review of Sandisk Extreme III SDHC Secure Digital 4096 MB by
Surj1
Advantages: 4GB, ESP Technology, RescuePRO
Disadvantages: None
...like all cards is capable of all media storage from MPEG's to JPEG's including files and folders. This SD card also comes with recovery software appropriately named RescuePRO. This lets you easily recover any data on the card from you PC. This can be done in two ways, via your device or a card reader. This SD card has also been tested in the harshest of temperatures from -13º F to 185º F -25º C to 85º C Min 20MB/second. So you know it will perform whatever the weather when usually cold weather slows things down this will stand its ground.
Main functions and features:
- SD Memory Card
- 4GB
- ESP (Enhanced Super Parallel-processing) technology
- Software included, RescuePRO
- 32 x 24 x 2 cm
Overall the Sandisk Extreme III 4 GB Compact Flash Card is perfect to replace your old SD card or simply an upgrade from a lower storage size. You...

iii will tell you what it is about
Review of iii.co.uk (Interactive Investor International) by
XTHINKERAL
Advantages: Real time prices that flash Red and blue before your eyes
Disadvantages: Too many people looking for a verbal fight on the bulletin boards
...myself looking at the iii prices over the level 2 data I get from ProQuote and ADVFN.
iii does have a big sense of community amounst some of its users, however I feel since the dot com meltdown since march the bulletin boards have had a plague of band arrogant mis-informed posters. Even before this there were a number of useless posters, that insist its a great place too kick back and have a petty squabble. Fortunatly not all the Bulletin boards on iii are like this, but once a share is taken up by a large number of private investors who have a sheep mentality then the BB goes down hill with large numbers of pointless postings and bickering.
in all favour too them iii have tried to control and monitor postings but because its free to sign up, once a person gets banned they can easily sign up under another e-mail address. systems like...

Abit VT6X4 and its Via Apollo Pro 133A chipset
Review of Abit Pentium III VT6X4 by
AmK
Advantages: 133MHz FSB support, 1/2 AGP divider, stable, inexpensive
Disadvantages: Performance not up to overclocked BX solution
...I would like to share my experiences of the Abit VT6X4 slot 1 motherboard and its VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset.
In the past I have always used boards with an Intel chipset in my own machines. As my PC is important for work and study as well as for play, stability has always been an influencing factor. With the VT6X4, Abit have implemented stability in the VIA chipset.
The CPU I am using is a Slot 1 Intel Pentium 3 733MHz (133MHz FSB) chip, which I picked up second hand very inexpensively as an upgrade to my Celeron 366 (overclocked to 550). The P3 is a fast and stable chip - it runs pretty cool for a 733MHz CPU.
The VIA chipset is not the fastest solution available; those who lust for those extra frames per second in Quake 3 should consider an overclocked Intel BX chipset solution - the BX chipset doesn't support a 1/2 AGP divider...

3 Love
Review of Davis Love III by
coop
Advantages: good long game
Disadvantages: weak putter
...Davis Love III is part of a golfing dynasty his father and grandfather were both pros. he is a proven majopr winner and a successful Ryder Cup player but is going through abarren patch in terms of victories on tour. humilated by Tiger Woods in the Andersen Ocnsulting matchplay he seems to wilt a little bit when the pressure is on. This manifests itself in short putts being missed more regularly than a pro of his calobre should. If Davis can find some more mental strength he could add to his one major....

X800 Pro - The KING of Graphics Cards
Review of Connect3D RADEON X800 PRO by
Credance100
Advantages: Mindblowing speeds. Maxed out frame rate. Looks beautiful. TV out!!
Disadvantages: None.
...And it won't even gain a tremendous amount of weight and end up in Vegas late in its life! Seriously though, the X800 Pro lives up to its extensive hype. It does more than live up to it, after around two and a half hours testing the thing I had to literally tear my eyes away from the thing.
But before I come to all that, first the tale of how I came to acquire his highness...
Introduction
As I mentioned in a previous review, I recently was assigned the task of building a top of the range computer for a good friend of mine. I don't just mean some jolly old 2600xp with a 512 and some mid-range card to top it off either. My buddy wanted the finest computer this side of the UK - best processor, memory, hard drive, sound, input components, and of course : graphics, I even had to persuade the guy against modding the case!
Having had...

Could have been a Celeron killer
Review of VIA C3 750 MHz processor by
CyrixDes
Advantages: Cheap, respectable looking clockspeeds
Disadvantages: Blown away by the old Joshua design, nearly equalled by the MII at half the clock speed, bad benchmarks, bad press
...is shown to be an absolute joke. In some of the benchmarks the MII-333 (a more 3 year old design) is only just behind the CentaurCyrixIII-533, and in all the benchmarks, the Old JoshuaCyrixIII PR433 (only running at 333 I think or it might be 300) thrashes the Centaur CyrixIII running at genuine 533. VIA could have had a nice little chip in the Joshua one which would have had pretty decent gaming performance coupled with the famous excellent integer/business performance that all Cyrix CPU's offer but quite frankly, VIA blew it.
Only consider this chip if your main concern is business tasks like word processing and spreadsheets, dont think about it for games cos the Samual core of the Cyrix III as opposed to the Joshua is useless, even being challanged by the old 6x86 design thats now 5 years old....
