Are Pentium processors the best
Review of Intel Pentium 3 [TV Advertisement] by jamespugh

Advantages: Relativly Fast
Disadvantages: Now aging

...The Pentium based PC processors have always been the best, the top of the range, but did have their problems. The main problem with these processors was that you didn’t get much for your money and often they were twice the price of other brands. The AMD processors are now becoming more and more of an alternative, and sometime a fraction of the price. If you do have the money then Pentium 2 or Pentium 3 processors are the best. The Pentium processors are the quickest, and have the best specification and are the best choice for the PC gamer. The Pentium process are though good for other users, like word-processing, desktop publishing but other processors of similar clock speed will do just a well. If gaming is you thing, and you have the dosh then the Pentium 3 processor is the processor for you. If your on a budget and don... Read review

Brilliant processor
Review of AMD Duron by casper77

Advantages: cheap, excellent performance
Disadvantages: none

...I have recently upgraded to a AMD Duron processor and it was superb. Coupled it with a powerful ABIT KT7 motherboard, it delivered suprb performance and beats Pentium III of the equivalent rank. Having an unlocked processor and a bios that supports soft clock speed setting, I could deliver the maxium performance out of the processor with little risk damaging the processor. The speed of the processor can also be varied according to the season - I can run a bit faster when the day is cooler and vice versa. The price is also very competitive compared to Celeron or Pentium III. With good performance and good price, this is the processor I would go for. Also, Duron/Althon has much better upgrability compared to INTEL counter part as AMD is going to support Socket A for a reasonable amount of time to come.... Read review

Intel, making the bucks, the sneaky way
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by zero

Advantages: They are very powewrful processors
Disadvantages: Too expensive

...I'm not if AMD have done this but Intel definitely have. When they introduced the PIII 450 MHz for the first time, they did not mention to the public that it was only 10% faster than it's little brother the Pentium II 450MHz processor. When the gigahertz processor was introduced, it was tested by a popular computer magazine. I found the results to be surprising. In some areas of performance the Gigahertz processor was SLOWER than the 850 MHz processor. When ever a new processor is introduced it is always overpriced. This overpricing is not little it is ridicously high. A month or two after the release the prices drop massively. Then soon after a new processor is introduced, faster and more powerful. When this show will end who knows. These very powerful processors don't even operate to maximum performance because of the operating... Read review

Athlon X2 6000+
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ / 3 GHz processor by far_hk

Advantages: Integrated Memory Controller
Disadvantages: TDP, Price, Relative performance

...AMD has been on the decline after Intel introduced its core 2 Duo line of processors. It has been late on 65 nm process and they are paying for that. They had the market under total control just one year ago, but now they have lost even their loyal customers. AMD has to produce something very powerful and should be done quickly or they will even lose the small share that they has got. Coming to the processor, Athlon 64 X2 6000+ is a midrange processor to compete Intel in the midrange segment. It is powerful but not enough to beat Intel's counter parts. I got this processor in the PC which my uncle gifted to me. So, I have got it free. If I were given a choice before it was gifted to me, I certainly would have asked for an Intel processor in the same price range. Looking at the processor, we note that it's speed is 3 GHz. It has... Do it with AMD!
Review of AMD Sempron 2400+ / 1.66 GHz processor by rally1998

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, AMD
Disadvantages: Slowish compared to better CPUs

...I started building PCs a few years back and have been brand loyal to AMD for many reasons, Customer Service is fantastic, The processors are fantastic, the prices for the processors are also...fantastic. Compared to Intel: These processors are here for the budgeters. The people who want computers for rock bottom prices. This processor is head to head with Intels Celeron processor, both of which AMD and Intel of various running speeds for these processors. These processors I believe are better than the Intel equivalent for mainly one reason, The IPC frequency, this is Instructions Per Cycle. Where Intel simple boost up their clock speed (ghz) AMD are actually using their brains, by increasing the IPC the processor can get more things done at any one time, the added benefit of this is that the processor can run at a lower temperature... The new Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 just rocks
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 / 2.13 GHz processor by neo1983

Advantages: Good performance, Great value, Low power consumption, Stability
Disadvantages: None

...A good friend of mine bought this processor and immediately tested it to see the advantages of 4 MB of cache. This new Intel core 2 processor E6420 replaces the old Core Duo E6400, and has a series of notable advantages over the latter one. I tested both products and one thing is sure, by adding two extra MB on the processor die, the performance increased quite a little. I've tested both processors in several aplications and the speed difference varies from almost none (rendering), to notable in encoding, compressing, multimedia (3-6 % speed increase) and to maximum 7-9% speed increase in games and this at the same price like E6400 processor. The speed is just great for it's price and if you thing it isn't fast enough this processor is highly overclockable. my tested version worked until 3.15 Ghz with the stock cooler included... D 925
Review of Intel Pentium D 925 / 3 GHz processor by Shah_H

Advantages: Cheap, Fast.
Disadvantages: Heat, Old Generation

...I bought this processor a few months ago. I always had a good experience with Intel and once more I enjoyed their offering. This processor is a decent performer running at 3 GHz. It can fit in any motherboard having LGA775 socket. It is based on 65 nm manufacturing technology. And for sure it is dual core! Architecture Features: Enhanced SpeedStep technology, streaming SIMD extensions 2, streaming SIMD extensions 3, Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology, Execute Disable Bit capability This processor runs at 3 GHz. It has decent FSB of 800 MHz. It is equipped with 2 MB l2 cache per core which means a total of 4 MB cache. The power requirements of this processor are a bit higher than those of the newer Core 2 Duo processors but still they are not that high. The processor heats up a bit, so, take care of the airflow across the processor... Read review

Great value and performance from Intel
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 / 1.86 GHz processor by neo1983

Advantages: Price,Great value = performance/money , stability, low power consumption
Disadvantages: There are faster dual and quad core processors on market

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by mash123

Advantages: handle multiple tasks at same time and doesnt slow pc.
Disadvantages: potentially waste of money

...the latest processor from intel, the new intel core 2 quad is the most powerful processor available for the average home pc. The 2.4GHz processor is more than enough for everyday tasks on your pc. This is perfect if you do hardcore gaming, video editing etc or both! The four cores allow you to simultaneously do alot of tasks on the pc and it will not slow down your pc. As more and more software for pc's need a lot of processing power, this processor is the most up to date and the most powerful as yet. The downside to getting this would be that as computing power of computers are increasing faster and faster with respect to time, the quad core processor will no doubt be yesterdays news within a few months as intel have plans to release an octa-core processor which will then outdate this one.... Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 Review
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by neo1983

Advantages: 4 cores, great performance, future proof
Disadvantages: may require bios update, high power consumption

...Based on the same quad core architecture as Core2 Extreme QX6700 but with lower speed, with 4 cores this processor is really recommended especially for multitasking, multimedia encoding applications, but in generally is good at everything. The speed. The processor speed depend especially of the aplications used, in some is slower than a dual core processor but in four cores optimized applications this processor rocks. Ease of installation: A little difficult because of the socket 775, require the main board to be removed from the case, check the cooler to click with all 4 connectors. Stability: As all Intel processor is great but I recommend using a good 3'rd party cooler Power consuming. This processor uses 120w max, recommend a 500w power source. Other:check the main board/bios if support quad processor before installing, you may... Read review
