Looking for a new motherboard I came across this one ? a motherboard based on one of the latest Intel chipsets 865PE.

I have tried everything from routinely defragmenting, running windoctor, installing patches, reformatting etc.
Nothing lasts for more than a couple of days, then the crashing starts all over again. I think this machine has incompatible components. The speed of the cpu is often wrong, and i feel that the processor, the motherboard and small hard drive are not suited to eachother.

...the fastest Pentium processors. It supports the 3.4Ghz AFTER a BIOS update but 3.6Ghz use a differenttype of CPU altogether. Those use the newer Socket T / PGA775 cpu. Either way, it's the top board in the Asus socket 478 range.
