Exam Success!
Advantages: You get the grades you deserve
Disadvantages: It can be tedious
...Having sat lots of exams in the past I thought I would give my advice to others who have exams coming up. I know how boring, dull, stressful, important, disappointing and rewarding the whole exam experience can be so I hope this is of use to someone :-)
~ A ~
Aim high - Michael Angelo said 'It is better to aim high and miss than to aim low and hit' and I totally agree with him. If you aim high you will motivated to do well and therefore are more likely to succeed.
~ B ~
Boredom (try and avoid it!) - There's no doubt about it revision can lead to boredom. If you take regular breaks and do a variety of tasks this will keep boredom to a minimum so you are more likely to do well.
Books - If you have bought or borrowed books don't forget to use them. It is easy to find books and think they will be really useful, and then...

Excellent books for Exam Success
Advantages: Interesting, bullet points, good diagrams
Disadvantages: Not in colour, some parts not detailed enough
...Revision can be really dull sometimes. There's nothing worse than having a huge pile of notes or a thick textbook and not knowing where to start with revision. Having two A-level exams and some AS level re-sits in January, I need something that will keep me on task as well as enable me to learn all the material required.
That's where these books come in. I have four of them: 2 AS and 2 A2 (Biology and Chemistry.) The AS books each have three modules notes and each A2 have 2 modules notes.
I found these books in the library at school but they only had the chemistry ones. I decided I would buy the biology ones so I have my own copies and while I was purchasing them I thought I might as well get the chemistry ones too.
*Advantages*
The books are really good. They are specification specific, which means that all the material in...

BEAT THE EXAM BLUES
Advantages: advantages to stress... none!
Disadvantages: could actually make you do badly
...Exams can be extremely stressful, everybody knows that, but there are certain strategies that you can use to keep this stress minimal.
Getting completely worried and stressed out about the exams is obviously not a good idea. A lot of people do not realise that getting too worried can actually minimise your chances of success. Many of my teachers have told us about some the brightest of students freezing up when a test paper is put in front of them.
* The first thing to do is to make sure that you know your course. Ask your teachers which topics the exams will cover, and make a topic checklist. Go over work that you have done in class, and spend extra time on bits that you struggle with.
* Start revising early. Panicking when you realise that you only have a few weeks of revision time left is not good. While it may not always...

Don't Let Exams Get You Stressed
Advantages: There is a lot of material available to help you
Disadvantages: It has to be done and is boring
...Well, first off revision can be a scary thing especially when you have exams looming, which are even scarier! You know that they are really important, which is why you need to know what you’re doing when it comes to revising. Flitting from one subject to another, working solidly for ten hours and staying up all night before your exam is not going to help! Believe it or not revision needs to be mixed with fun stuff, and before you start to revise the first thing you need is a timetable.
Your timetable should go from when you start your revision (could be the day you plan it out, or you might plan it out a week in advance) and take it up to the end of your exams. Have the day and date down the left-hand side, and along the top have columns with morning, afternoon and evening. These times of day could be a set time, for example...

Its Exam Time Everyone!
Advantages: A good revision regime will get you the grade and qualification pass you want
Disadvantages: Intensive revision without regular breaks can lead to mind black-outs, and therefore lower success at the exam or paper you are sitting. It can also take a lot of self-discipline, and self motivation in order for you to get yourself in to a routine
...I will start off by stating the obvious. Without a comprehensive good study before your qualification examinations, you will almost certainly not get the grade that you want. This review, will, try and help you, by revealing how I have studied in the past, and what the outcome has been.
Studying, as I well know, is a very hard thing to get in to the routine in to, especially if it is a part time qualification (and you are either working, or looking after children or whatever). I mean I shouldnt have really found it so difficult, because at the end of the day, the only thing that got in the way of my revision, was my social life.
Your social life is essentially important, and shouldnt be neglected, but on the other hand shouldnt be prioritised over your exams, because at the end of the day, its your future you are meddeling with...

"Passing the PRINCE2 Exam - Ken Bradley"
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: It's very pricey
...I was very anxious reading this "Passing the PRINCE2 Exam - Ken Bradley" when i ordered it. But it was very disappointing when i recieved it. I discovered that it was not worth that price at all because of its contents. May be you like to know that, it only contains one sample question on both the foundation and practitioner exam. To be honest, this cannot make you pass either of the aforementioned exam.
I only bought it, thinking it's full of various sample questions, unknowlingly it's just one sample question for both exam as i've mentioned. In my own opinion and from what i've experienced, you don't need this book. Just practice using various online sample questions after you've read the "Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2" text book. Then you should be fine. Or better still, if you can get the software which contains numerous...

A to Z Exam Survival Plan
Advantages: Helps to beat the revision stress the smart way.
Disadvantages: Not suitable for last minute studying
...and rest well.
I ? Indulge yourself. All work and no play, will make you go crazy. Reward yourself if you had been working really hard over the week. A chocolate bar or a trip to the cinemas can be a great reward.
J ? Jazz up your notebooks and revision books. Black and white is very boring and makes you frustrated. Highlight important facts with coloured pens and highlighters. Draw pictures relevant to the subjects you are studying to make you remember better.
K ? Keep a checklist. Tick off the syllabus that you have already gone through. Also check your pencil case to make sure you have enough stationeries required for the exam.
L ? Laugh. By laughing and smiling, your brain releases endorphins. These hormones help to lighten up your mood and make you feel much better. Try reading a short joke or comic strip every 2 hours interval...

Revising for a maths exam.
Advantages: Big improvements can be made in a relatively short time.
Disadvantages: Risk being called a geek
...As Ben has written with advice an arts/humanities, I thought I would add this one.
The best way to revise for maths is to get a load of scrap paper, a pen, your textbook, your notes (if they are any good) and then work through loads and loads of examples on each topic.
Read through the notes and worked examples, then cover up the solutions for the worked examples and see if you can successfully complete them. Try and use the same layout as the book, paying attention to symbols which link statements. For example, use the = sign in the correct place and NOT to join up every bit of working that you do. This will create an overall good impression, even if your method contains errors.
Your school/college should be able to provide you with past papers from the CORRECT board you are taking the exam with. This is very important because...

Write an online exam in less than an hour
Advantages: wide range of courses to choose from, you will know your results there and then, the big name employers recognise Brainbench
Disadvantages: Not Free(Cost $8), new users might find the testing interface a bit strange, takes time to ship the certificate bearing in mind that i am still waiting for mine.
...[UPDATED*]
I did two Brainbench exams last year; Microsoft Word 2000 and written English and i am pleased to say that i succesfully passed them after many attempts. A basic exam costs $7.95 (U.S.), which will include the cost of the certificate itself, as well as shipping and handling. In early March, the company will be charging $19.95 (U.S.) for certification tests which will include the paper certificate as well...a package worth $58 or more!
There is a wide range of courses to choose from; from healthcare to computing to management you name it. Registration is free and before you take any exams, you will be given a questionnare which of course, you can omit.
The test interface has been modified and new users might find it dificult to navigate the site. You are given four questions of which you must choose the correct...

Music for the exams.
Advantages: See text.
Disadvantages: See text.
...I would just like to offer my own thoughts and views (or mad comments) on this subject, which is of course the Associated Board Music Examinations. And as the name would suggest to us all, these are exams that are taken in music that are assessed by the Associated Board (AB).
When you go in to any decent music shop that sells sheet music (that is, music that is written down on a piece of paper for an individual to follow) then you will no doubt see many items for this. The AB is usually a general term for those top music schools etc that have all come together, in order to offer exams in pretty much any instrument that there is going these days (with the possible exception of the ukelele). These exams are called grades, which start at Grade 1 (being the lowest) up to Grade 8 (being the highest).
There is no age limit on when...
