BBC1 - losing their grip?
Advantages: Best soap, news and sport at the moment
Disadvantages: Losing bits every year when money becomes more and more involved
...What is there that can be said about BBC1 these days? First they lost Des Lynam to ITV, now they have lost Match of the Day in its old form to ITV. They need to come back on track. Until the recent excellent cricket coverage on Channel 4, there is no doubt that BBC1 had a stronghold on almost all sports in terms of the quality of their presenters and their coverage. Currently the Sydney Olympics is being handled remarkably well by the BBC, on both 1 and 2. The sad thing is, soon all that will be left of this will be news, darts and table-tennis if they carry on in this vein....

BBC 1 news and reviews.
Advantages: comprehensive and easily accessable
Disadvantages: A lot of it
...A white male tonight read the news. Its presentation was almost identical to earlier sessions today. National Headlines for national TV. Live footage from the Middle East. An interesting piece on Christian America and the workplace. The controller of the BBC has moved to independent TV. They announce a break in the programme which did not seem to happen (an independent channel might have commercial breaks). Towards the end SPORTS news. Followed by local news broadcasters - they have started to use channel 5 presenters and weather both national and local with predictions as far ahead as Friday.
I found watching all 3 sessions in 1 day a bit much, but it is nice to know that you can switch on at selected hours and catch up with today?s news events world wide (very little changed through out the day). It?s good to see a wide variety...

I just love this programme
Advantages: best programme ever, real to life, great characters
Disadvantages: not on enough
...I have loved this programme since it came on in 1985. I may have only been little then but I can remember little bits and I caught up on the ones I missed when they repeated all the old ones during their 10year birthday celebrations. What a treat that was. Some people say that everyone is always miserable in it but what do they want a program which is real to life with some great acting in it or an american type of program where everyone maybe happy all the time but they cant act and its just a complete joke. The producers based this on problems which happen in the real world they want to give a good potrayal of problems which are faced everyday by society. If you look back they ahve faced all the touchy situations like sonias teenage pregnacy which was done at the beginning with Michelle Fowler. There has been Marks HIV, drugs, murder...

Forget ITN News - BBC1 have it sorted
Advantages: Excellent news readers, reports and coverage, same time every night
Disadvantages: Not on at 9pm any more
...I was angered when BBC1 moved their main news programme from 9.00 p.m. to 10 p.m. I was used to the news at 9 and was happy with it there. Luckily for the BBC, the 10 o'clock news has proved to be very informative and the format well thought out. The link to the local news at 10.25 p.m. is also good - allowing the regional news a whole 10 minutes for their late broadcast.
Conversely, what have ITN been up to? Do they even know? First it's the 11 o'clock news and now it's back to the 10 o'clock news - but when is it actually on at 10 o'clock? Mostly it seems to be on around 10.20 ish - sorry but then shouldn't it be renamed the 10.20 o'clock news? The format of the programme is poor, concentrating more on advertising the Tonight Programme with Trevor MacDonald and worrying about what will be read (briefly) after the ad break. I...

Cast your mind back
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: John Willans, his gloves and the voice of the balls
...Back we go to when the Lottery programme first started on a Saturday night, with millions tuning in in greedy anticipation of becoming a millionaire. There was a freshness then about the whole thing and we really wanted to know which set of balls and which machine was going to be used to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. Well, that excitement didn't last for long and this programme very quickly got seen for what it was, a naff idea stretched very thin with some pretty appalling presentation.
The audience dwindled rapidly, along with the quality and it's unusual now for me to bother tuning in - I can always get the lucky numbers next day after all, and the show is just such trash, despite all the relaunches and changes of presenter, it's still pretty naff television, in keeping with most things on BBC 1 Saturday nights, apart...

A waste of time
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: A waste of time
...I am obviously not the only one who thinks that the BBC's Lottery programme, in all its forms, is an awful wast of time, (nice one Positronic.) When will the BBC realise that the majority of us are interested only in the numbers drawn, and not in the ridiculous competitions, articles and waste of space nonsence that goes on before it. A complete waste of licence fee, in my opinion. What is the point of drawing it out anyway? Just get down to business and draw the numbers.
I would imagine that the fact that the show has gone through so many different formats is indicative that none of them are working. Doesn't that prove something to the BBC. They will no doubt argue that the ratings show it as a success, but I reckon the truth might be that the viewers are swithing on for Casualty early, (and to catch the numbers,) or that their method...

Oy it's a great programme innit
Advantages: A gripping programme with fantastic actors
Disadvantages: None, none, none!!
...storylines, they still find room for lightweight scenes, often involving Dot or Charlie etc.
Eastenders can't lose as far as I'm concerned, I so look forward to Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have to admit that if I miss an episode of Coronation Street, much as I also like that, I'm not too worried, but if I miss Eastenders I'm longing for the Omnibus edition at the weekend!
Each time a character leaves I feel that the programme is not going to be quite the same again, but the new actors they then bring in plus the clever storylines mean that I quickly get into the swing of new characters.
Eastenders can't lose as far as I'm concerned and without a doubt is the best 'soap' on the box....

The Flawed Programme (In My Opinion)
Advantages: Some interesting information and history on foods
Disadvantages: Cant see the foods, what I see as being snobbery, read the review for the rest
...- Introduction -
Okay so let me start by saying that it is a tradition in my household that the food programme is always played while me and my parents sit down for sunday lunch. I think my mum finds it interesting and as it follows on from whats usually the 'funnies' at noon (I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue etc.), we keep it on (plus so we can hear the main news and weather at 1pm). This has been a tradition lasting many years, as far as I can remember and the other tradition linked to this show, im afraid to say, has been the almost weekly moaning and complaining by either my dad and/or me and my dad about aspects of this show. Infact, while it was being broadcast today and my dad was saying the same usual comments (which I'll get on to later), I thought that he should vent by posting a review to let everyone know what he thinks...

Whats with this programme?
Advantages: you can win a lot of money
Disadvantages: they prolong the program to much.
...Why does the National Lottery bother doing all this music and gameshows? Afterall, all everybody wants is to know whether they've won a few million, and if they stopped showing about 3 songs per programme, we would be able to win more money (not that we need too with millions to win) or it could go towards the other charities.
The aim of the lottery is to win a lot of money, so why do we have to watch people singing waiting to see if we have or not!?
I hope that if Richard Branson takes it over, he might not prolong it so much, and if he does, put some decent content on the programme and not singing!...

Lily makes the programme
Advantages: You can play along yourself
Disadvantages: Seems to be a bit pointless
...This show is years old. It used to be hosted by Les Dawson until he sadly passed away and is nowback and hosted by Lily Savage. We all know lily savage and we all know (unless you hate her) that she is pretty funny and comes up with some good cracks now and again. So she does do justice to the programme itself.
So what’s the game about? Well, there are 2 contestants, 6 celebrities and lily savage. The whole idea is that Lily Savage will start a sentence but leave an answer to that sentence. The 6 celebrities then have to write down the best answer they can come up with and the contestant has to hope that they all, or some of them gets that answer right as he/she scores 1 point per correct answer. The answer is known as the ‘blank’ which gives the gameshow its name and could be anything. Sentences come in the forms...
