Epson EMP X5
Review of Epson EMP X5 by
LogitechUSAUK
Advantages: Good price
Disadvantages: Low resolution
...This is projector is affordable but still has some positive features. The resolution of 1024 x 768 allows clear projection with much detail. However if you are interested in High definition or multimedia i would not recommend this. However for business or education this is perfect. The 2200 ANSI Lumens allows the pictures to be very bright in well lit conditions. It was very easy to set this up and epson provided all the cables in needed. This epson website is also very helpful for driver and software updates. Even though this is not a DLP projector i think this projector meets its demands nicely and is a good price. Other products to consider would be the Optoma range since they also are very good....

Project the world in a whole new light.
Review of Acer X1160 by
multidonna
Advantages: Cheap, lots of features, lightweight and compact, energy efficient
Disadvantages: It will do everything except make you a cup of tea.
...to adjust the resolution on your computer or laptop. SmartFormat Technology has a simple mode which allows for easy extension between speakers for presentation use.
The resolution is 800 x 600 SVGA. There are two main types of resolution, SVGA (800x600) and XGA (1024x768) these apply to computer outputs as well so it is advisory to check the resolution of your computer before you purchase a projector however most XGA projectors will support SGVA formats without much loss in quality but displaying an XGA format on an SVGA projector will make it difficult to see with blur and lines.
The Acer X1160 comes with a built in Keystoning capability which corrects the position of the picture on what it is display on. In other words if you place your projector below or above the desired location to be fully visible on screen then this product...

Sony's Excellent Projector
Review of Sony VPL CX21 by
Surj1
Advantages: High Brightness, 3LCD Projection System, AIAS (Advanced Intelligent Auto Setup), Short Focal Length
Disadvantages: Abit Noisy
...The Sony VPL CX21 is a bright, slim, and stylish projector designed for mobile applications. A friend of mine has this and we always watch movies on it. The projector has many features which I've written about below with brief explanation of each feature:
- High Brightness of 2100 ANSI Lumens
The projector has three Sony 0.63-inch LCD panels and a latest designed 165 W lamp, it has a brightness of 2100 ANSI lumens, which provides amazing image quality even in very high ambient-light. The projector has a resolution of XGA (1024 x 768), this simply means fine display of even the smallest details.
- 3LCD Projection System
This is what the Sony projector is all about, it has a 3LCD projection system which means the projected images are bright and natural and for this to be achieved it has 3 LCD panels. It provides high light...

A great budget DLP Projector
Review of BenQ W100 by
djmazif666
Advantages: Low price, vivid colour, ease of use and setup
Disadvantages: Resolution could be a bit higher, slight screen-door effect
...I bought this projector for my home cinema system and i have been very impressed with it. For the money, i don't think there is a better projector packed with features and superb ease of use.
The picture quality is more than satisfactory for watching DVD's and playing PlayStation games, and i also use it for viewing photos from my PC. More die-hard home cinema enthusiasts may find the resolution not up to scratch, and it does suffer slightly from the screen door effect, but i find the picture excellent. Another obvious benefit is the massive lamp life of 4000 hours, which means it'll be a very long time before it needs changing. I have also found that this projector has one of the cheapest replacement lamp prices around, from just £140. The brightness is brilliant and this projector is so easy to set up and use that anybody could use...

Optoma HD720X
Review of Optoma HD720X by
jaymicksee
Advantages: Great picture, little rainbow effect, good looking projector.
Disadvantages: No internal speaker
...This is a really great projector, at a very impressive price (£529 on Play) - the cheapest WXGA I've seen! Many DLP projectors suffer from the "rainbow effect" but with this Optoma there is virtually no rainbow effect at all - this is due to the 4x speed colour wheel, which is faster than you would find in many other projectors. Out of the box, the picture is great. I found the yellows were maybe slightly muted but this can be adjusted by the on-screen menus. The actual projector looks very sleek - the black and silver case looks really classy - and it comes with all the inputs you could want, expect SCART, but don't worry - a SCART adapter comes in the box. Being HD ready, it's also got an HDMI port for your HD-DVD or Blu-ray. The remote is easy to use, and the buttons light up so you can see them in a darkened room. Thankfully...

Excellent short-throw projector
Review of BenQ MP771 by
galloxxl
Advantages: Big image when placed one meter from the wall
Disadvantages: didn't notice any so far
...When I decided to buy a short-throw projector I compared for a while as I always do when I buy electronic products. Finally I decided to buy this BenQ MP771. I've been working with it for several days now and I have to say that it met all my expectations. So far I am very satisfied.
I like its short-throw technology because I place the projector only one meter away from the wall and I still get a huge picture displayed, about 70". That's perfect as my meeting room is not that big. You have to imagine that a standard projector which a friend borrowed me only managed a picture size of about 25". The short-throw technology was really the crucial point for me to buy this projector.
In terms of the picture quality I can't complain either. The BenQ MP771 offers bright and clear pictures. The reason are high 3000 ANSI lumen which creates...

Sony VPL-CS1 A Projector Well Ahead Of It's Time
Review of Sony VPL CS1 by
taylora-2006
Advantages: 1280 x 1024 Maximum Resolution
Disadvantages: Not designed for ceiling mounting.
...This is a great projector overall. I recognise that this is a fairly old projector and pretty much outdated, but as I work with secondhand electronics, I am seeing this projector becoming more and more popular. If you are looking to buy one secondhand I wouldn't expect you to pay any more than £200 at most.
Please do not be put off by the fact that this projector has a brightness of 600 lumens. It is on par with projectors of around 1500 lumens. Infact, it is far better than most projector of double the brightness (1200 lumens) the projectors that come to mind are Toshiba's, but I'll review some of them later.
I think that this projector is popular for a couple of reasons. One is that it has a max resolution of 1280 X 1024 which is superior than most new projectors and certainly beats any projector in it's price range. The second...

Cinema in my courtyard
Review of Toshiba TDP ET20 by
neo1983
Advantages: HDTV ready and compatible,DVD and 5,1 Audio system functions, Image quality
Disadvantages: The price is high but worth every penny; Took 1000 words to review :)
...Instruments, in 1987 by Dr. Larry Hornbeck. Most of the modern movie theaters are based on this technology and the quality is just great.
One application is DLP front projectors (small standalone projection units). DLP, along with LCD and LCoS are the current display technologies behind rear-projection television, having supplanted CRT projectors. These rear-projection technologies compete against LCD and Plasma flat panel displays in the HDTV market.
In DLP projectors, the image is created by microscopically small mirrors laid out in a matrix on a semiconductor chip, known as a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). Each mirror represents one or more pixels in the projected image. The number of mirrors corresponds to the resolution of the projected image (often half as many mirrors as the advertised resolution due to wobulation) 800x600, 1024x...

Optoma EP706 Projector - I love dixons!
Review of Optoma EP706 by
Romeo123467
Advantages: The price, The picture quality and so forth
Disadvantages: Didnt work as well on old toshiba TV's
...- The wall opposite the fire place).
The projector produces almost NO sound when it is switched on, apart from the low hum of the internal fan and when the volume was turned up, This sound was driven out.
Overview of the projector:
DLP Display Technology For Great Viewing
Native SVGA Resolution (800x600)
2000:1 Contrast Ratio
Bright Display With 1800 ANSI Lumens
# Large Digital Keystone Correction Range
# 3000 Hours Of Lamp Life (I have yet to test this, but according to the information on the box, This is the case)
# Ultra Quiet 27db Operation (Like I said before, Barely a whisper)
# 1.9kg Weight (Because of this, I do NOT recommend fitting one of these to your ceiling. It works better when placed on a side table)
# Password Security (Restricts children from viewing certain content. Very useful)
# Great Connectivity...

A CINEMA IN YOUR LIVING ROOM
Review of BenQ PB6110 by
Happychap
Advantages: Small, quiet good picture
Disadvantages: No sound
...In June last year I made the big plunge and decided to buy a house with my Fiance. Now with the housing prices being as ridiculous we could only afford a small starter home which had quite a small living room. We decided that rather than have a big telly taking up space we would instead buy a projector. We had seen them in PC World and the prices seemed reasonable and found the BenQ PB6110 quite good value for money (Reasons for this I will get too). Now I use this as a day to day TV but the projectors lamp life has an estimated 2000 hour lifespan. Now this doesn't seem much but I have only done around 1,300 since June 04 and in economy mode it should last at least 3,000 hours. A replacement bulb will cost around £250.
Firstly the projector has a good number of video input options being S-video, composite video and VGA cable...
