...Provident is a large company, who provide a credit service, they provide loans amongst other services and they have been around for a good number off years, they boast that they are the "UKs number 1 home credit provider, (yeah right). When I first joined Provident WHY DID I JOIN? the answer to this is I really dont know!! but anyway a few years ago ( approx 3 years ago) an agent called to my home, she was really friendly and helpful, she offered me £100 worth off vouchers which could be spent in most High street shops, as it was near Christmas I took her offer and accepted the vouchers, the agent filled out the neccassary paper work and I had my vouchers the following week along with my payment book, which had all the agents details on the front of cover. Advantages: A good payout at the end of the insurance term
Disadvantages: You need to be sure you can commit to ten years

...these days increase by £2 per month after each of the first five years. This way the investment keeps pace with inflation. The only thing to be aware of is that if you change your mind during the ten years you're not going to get much back as a surrender value. In the first few years you would not even get back what you paid in so be sure you want to commit for 10 years before you start. quick cash but you pay the price

...As some of you may already know provident personal credit are a home lending company who lend to anyone no matter what your credit rating, this can be a good thing when you need a quick cash injection but a bad thing as it allows people already in debt to get further into debt. To get a loan with them all you do is phone there office, the number is in the phone book, they take a few details then pass them onto an agent, this agent will come to your house do the paper work give you your cash and colect your repayments from you weekly. There interest is high, it is £65 for every £100 you borrow but I find them useful at christmas time each year and have a loan that I can pay back over the next year at a very reasionable rate. Repayments are £3 a week on every £100 you borrow Provident is a great company if you have poor credit...

Good network provider

Advantages: Good price plans and network service
Disadvantages: The range of mobile phones on its mobile phone contracts

...I used to be with vodafone for a while and I have to say I really enjoyed their service. I was part of this priceplan where I was able to get 60minutes per week free or something if i topped up £5 free and also free weekend texts and calls. They also provided very good reception service (4 or 5 bars out of 5 for signal), as I never was out of signal, only a few times when I am travelling on the tube (well you obviously do not get any signal on the tube anyway so thats ok). They have a very fast 3g service which in my area and in the centre of town I can receive good signal normally 3 or 4 out of 5 bars of signal. They also offer good rewards for topping up which I didn't want to leave the network as I wanted an iPhone 3g and only o2 offered it, but now soon vodafone will be offering the iPhone so I think when my current contract runs...

One of the better service providers!!

Advantages: good customer service
Disadvantages: few hiccups but resolved quickly

...I've been with Vodafone for eight years now and I consider Vodafone being one of the exeptions when it comes to service providers. Majority of service providers are absolutely appalling and we come across problems with them more or less all the time, however I would recommend Vodafone to anyone. Having had 6 phones from them, currently a Sony Ericcson, on every occassion when I have come to upgrade I have looked around at what deals are available to me, however, when I have found a good deal and I have contacted to Vodafone to either terminate or see what they have on offer, they have always come up trumps and give me a better deal than what I have been offered by other service providers. This particular phone that is with Vodafone is my personal phone and I am on a tarriff whereby I pay £30 per month and I have two hundred free...

Promise everything, provide very little

Advantages: A clear phone Line
Disadvantages: You dont get the services you are promised, customer services are rubbish

...Nearly a year ago we moved into our new home and at the time the only telephone and internet provider was Sky, so we signed up with them for one year, we took all three services that they were providing so as well as the phone and internet they also provided us with their television package. For the television we paid £26, for our phone line we paid £11 and after the first three months we paid £6.50 for our internet. and the bills were on a monthly basis. All was well we had a few problems with the tv channels in the bad weather but everything else was fine, the internet was great and we very rarely had any connection problems. The only small problem was that we were paying £46 per month before our telephone calls. I often said that I would like to try another provider but apart from anything else we were tied into a year's contract...
