...I have to say I am a great fan of the playstation 2, my son has one and he loves to play it, as do I. Although I tend to limit the time he spends on it.
I cant really find anything bad about the ps2, but lately it has been partly to blame for a few problems in my family, my younger brother who is 15 years old first got his when he was about 8 years old, he was over the moon, my mother also put a limit on the time he would spend on it. He was fine with this, he was`nt really a child who went out a lot so most of his time was spent on the playstation or having a chin wag with anyone who would listen, he was always very smart and sensible. ...I received my PS2 as a Christmas present in 2002 - at the time they sold for £200 and games cost in the region of £30-45 - this was cutting edge technology at the time and the entire game world collectively stood back and said "wow" at this beast of a machine.

...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

...The arrival of the European PS2 Hard Drive is still some way off, as it was only released in Japan midway through last year, and currently retails at around ¥18,000 for the internal version, and ¥19,000 for the external. The American release is thought to be early 2002 and if all goes smoothly we should be seeing it on our shelves sometime next autumn.
Although the price has not yet been announced for the English version, it will probably be around £120, an expensive upgrade for anyone and it is likely that only the serious gamers will be interested
The hard drive is sure to sell well with Final Fantasy fans however, as you can pre-load parts of the game onto your hard drive to improve running speeds, making the game more enjoyable to play. However this does takes some time, to build up the extensive cache will take your PS2...

...The Playstation 2 is a console which plays host to some amazing games but is by no means perfect. Released in the autumn of 2000, the launch line up was weak but despite being outclassed by the then superior Dreamcast, it sold by the bucketload.
At first though i decided not to buy one as there was no games i wanted on it, eventually as time went on though i was pursuaded into it by the release of a game called Grand Theft Auto 3. So i purchased my machine back in March 2002, at first i absolutely loved playing on it as back then, the DC had died and the Gamecube was still two months away.
It was only later on though that the hardware problems that has blighted the console would strike me just as it has with many others, i would find that CD's and games would not load and the discs would not be read by the laser. There was nothing...

So what do you get for your money (300 quid)?
A great looking Games Machine and DVD player all in one.
A single dual shock controller (joypad).
A cable to connect it to the Telly.
What do you then need to buy?
Games (obviously) at around 40 quid each, they are not cheap.
A memory card (another 30 quid) and if you intend playing games seriously you will definately need one.

However I do understand how the more demanding gamer may become frustrated with the range of titles currently available. Good Features
The Slimline Playstation 2 is much quieter than the original console because it simply looks much better, the slim design is better on the eye and also it is less noisy as the console does not have a fan. Instead it uses air vents to keep the console cool. It does the job to be honest because I owned the console for over 2 years and it has never crashed or overheated.

...I should start by saying that I am not part of the PlayStation generation, I'm 44 and my first introduction to gaming outside of arcades was awarded to me as the result of an on line competition when I won a good old PSOne (yes, people do win those draws), that was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess.
About 5 years ago I upgraded to the original PS/2 and have enjoyed many late nights / early mornings gaming on that till about 8 months ago when it gave up the ghost. With the launch of PS/3 'imminent' I thought I could wait for that - but Oh No it gets delayed and delayed again and my patience runs out.
