PS2 excellent console

Advantages: Sturdy, good graphics, upgradeable
Disadvantages: Expensive

...Having had a PS1, I was keen to pre order a PS2. It arrived with four days to spare before Christmas. It came with Ridge racer V and Tekken Tag Tournament. First impressions were that I was impressed. The graphics are certainly a significant improvement on PS 1 but the games at this stage are, not surprisingly, expensive. The games themselves have slightly improved as there are more options available with them but the cost of setting up the new system is a lot for only a smallish improvement. I would recommend it as being better than the Dreamcast as there seems to be more variety in the games and the controllers have a better layout. PS2 vs X-BOX vs GAMECUBE

Advantages: Lots Of Games Available, DVD Playback
Disadvantages: Technical specs lowest of 3 consoles

...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

...I have to say I am a great fan of the playstation 2, my son has one and he loves to play it, as do I. Although I tend to limit the time he spends on it. I cant really find anything bad about the ps2, but lately it has been partly to blame for a few problems in my family, my younger brother who is 15 years old first got his when he was about 8 years old, he was over the moon, my mother also put a limit on the time he would spend on it. Playstation 2 - Still worth a look

Advantages: Big choice of games, can be stored flat or on its side, is a DVD player
Disadvantages: Disc read error problems do happen after alot of heavy use

...downside to the console but I don't really expect out of this world graphics from it and the games are still very much enjoyable, I just try and ignore the wavy lines. Their more obvious in older games I think, some don't have that problem at all really, maybe check online reviews of the games you buy for it if you want to avoid that, it should say in reviews if the game suffers alot from this. I'd say its well worth buying a second hand old PS2, look around online you can find some pretty good deal, I know that Gamestation offer a second hand PS2 and 2 PS2 games in a 2 for £20 range for only £59.99, £10 cheaper than the same deal with a slimline PS2 and to me, im not that bothered about the slimline ones, the original one is good enough for me.
