...The ps2 is a great console although it is almost10 years old. It has alot of features that anyone can use with ease. On it you can watch Movies, Play games and also play online with people around the world providing that you can internet access on it. there are a wide variety of games available for it and they are also quite cheap. The playstation itself can come quite cheap with prices starting at £40 in some shops. You might also want to get some accessories for it such as the vertical stand, the eyetoy camera and the DVD remote if you want one. The only bad points about the playstation i would say are the fact that it is quite fragile and would break easily....

...The Playstation 2 has sold in excess of over 100 million consoles since it was released back in 2000. When orginally released the Playstation 2 was much larger in size than the slimline version which Sony released in 2004. I am going to look into what are the benefits of the new system and look at the good and bad features. Good Features The Slimline Playstation 2 is much quieter than the original console because it simply looks much better, the slim design is better on the eye and also it is less noisy as the console does not have a fan. Instead it uses air vents to keep the console cool. It does the job to be honest because I owned the console for over 2 years and it has never crashed or overheated. ...I should start by saying that I am not part of the PlayStation generation, I'm 44 and my first introduction to gaming outside of arcades was awarded to me as the result of an on line competition when I won a good old PSOne (yes, people do win those draws), that was about 7 or 8 years ago I guess. About 5 years ago I upgraded to the original PS/2 and have enjoyed many late nights / early mornings gaming on that till about 8 months ago when it gave up the ghost. With the launch of PS/3 'imminent' I thought I could wait for that - but Oh No it gets delayed and delayed again and my patience runs out. The fact that this new product is lighter and smaller than the earlier model makes the mobility of the PlayStation easiier and so it is much more easy to carry it round to a friends house. However, the dissadvantage the smaller design is that it is affected more by knocks and bumps. As I mentioned ealier, the sound of the slimline model is quieter too, with no constant whirring sounds coming from the machine whilst playing the game, the only whirring noise I hear is right at the start when the PS2 has just been turned on. For the rest of the time, the model is almost completely quiet, which allows you to get on with you game distraction free, (unless you have a nagging brother who wants to have a go!) Disadvantages: Small chance of overheating, but so does everything else.

...! THE HARDWARE Now onto the Hardware. The Slimline PS2 looks stylish, and won't clog up your TV cabinet, it can sit neatly on top of your Sky Box, aslong as there is space for the Disc tray to open and close. There have been reports of over-heating in the past, that just doesn't happen these days and if it does, its really rare and won't damage your console. The Controller is great, though not as comfortable as the XBOX 360's, it gets the job done... and very well of a job it does. OVERALL So, Great Software and Great Hardware, sounds like it's gonna be too expensive? No, as I have said earlier, it costs very little to get your PS2 up and running, and if you use Ciao, you can lower that price by searching and buying from the cheapest place. Slim Shady Playstation 2

...After having purchased a standard sized playstation 2 console in 2001, I decided to sell my console on ebay towards the end of 2005 when the slimline playstation 2 console was unveilled to the world. Why did I chose to sell the console that had worked for the last 4 years, for a siver slimline playstation 2? The new slimline playstation two has been reduced in size from the previous version by 75%., the weight has been halved and the and thickness trimmed down to 2.8 cm, from 7.8 cm. Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the new PlayStation 2 sets new standards in the fusion of design and functionality. The slimline playstation 2 has a new flip lid instead of the motorised draw. The flid lid is a little flimsy but I suppose there was no room for a motorised draw on the slimline version. Slimline broke. Where's tha' Old One?

Advantages: Faster processing speed, Much Smaller.
Disadvantages: Mine doesn't play duel-layer DVD, remanufactured models broke down 4 times. My 5th is okay.

...Experience? A very, very poor, dissapointing experience. Yes, the graphics are good, yes there are a lot of things better than the original PS2 about the system in general... but here's where my experience went from bad, to worse. 1st slimline - I contacted sony. It wouldn't play 'silver' backed disks. Sony Sent me a re-manufactured PS2 Slimline. 2nd slimline - Contacted sony. Wouldn't play 'purple/blue' backed disks. 3rd Slimline - Contacted Sony... ... ... ... ... ... ... Problem after problem. Until I reached my: 5th Slimline: Works just like how I wanted the first one to. I wondered if it was overheating, and not intended for young people with no friends or social lives. One or two out of the five lasted a total of 2 weeks... The fifth and final slimline that I still own now is good. Just doesn't play duel...

Why didn't they make this in the first place?!

Advantages: Nearly silent, saves more room than the original PS2
Disadvantages: None really, just a bit expensive, not by much though!

...I have decided to write this review as I think that it will be good practice for when the time comes to write a review on the Playstation 3! Enjoy!!! Introduction When the original Playstation 2 came out, there were no complaints about it being too big or bulky, and there were no complaints about the sound that it made. But then when the Slimline PS2 came out, you really notice the difference between the two, and once you have the Slimline PS2, you really can't go back to the original Playstation 2!!! Fantastic console, even if it is 9 years old!

Advantages: Game palying facility, CD Player, grpahics, sound
Disadvantages: Pricey, average range of features

...I got the slimline PS2 as a Christmas present in 2004 and it has done it's job well ever since. Rarely have I had any problems with it and when I had I could easily refer to the manual and solve the problem. I built up my game collection over the years and I'm sad to say that they are phasing the PS2 games out!! Just because the PS3 is now out they shouldn't withdraw all the PS2 merchandise because a lot of people have got one and have spent loads of money buying games and other accessories. Graphics Capability The graphics (depending on the game quality) are quite good for the technology at the time this was manufactured. I'll admit that it isn't always brilliant, especially when you have the graphics freezing or going funny colours. Another problem is that some of the graphics look very 2D and computer animated, instead...
