...I recently sold my XBox 360 as I desprately wanted to try a PS3. Having owned the previous Playstations I was not disappointed with my purchase. I was also looking for a Bluray player which at the time cost more than the PS3. This made my purchase even more worthwhile. My initial thoughts was that the PS3 is bigger than the XBox 360 but a lot more quiter. In fact, you barely know it's on. A bought the basic 40GB pack which I find more than sufficient. Some of the other benefits the PS3 has above the XBox 360 include: * Free Wireless Controllers as standard * Bluray Player Built-in. ...I got my Wii as part of a free mobile phone upgrade as it wasn't my intention to buy one as I already own a PS3. However, I wich I had bought one earlier. Let's be honest, the graphics aren't a comparison to the PS3 or XBox360 but the gameplay on the Wii is very addictive. So much so, the Mrs also plays on it and she's never played on the PS3. The Wii can also produce HD quality pictures which is within the Wii option menu. Since owning the Wii I have also bought the Wii Fit which is a great addition to the Wii console. I find the gameplay and general addictiveness with the Wii outshines the PS3 and XBox360. If you have an HD TV I recommend you upgrading the connecting wire to a component cable as this improves the picture quality no end. I can't recommend this console enough. ...a USB port on the back for connectivity, which is useful if you have a PSP or a computer to hook the controller up to. The Actual Console: The machine is black and shiny making it look very attractive. It is compaible with most types of memory card and the PSP. The PS3 can be positioned in an upright way if you don't have much space or want the PS3 to have better ventilation but it is just fine laying flat. There is 4 USB slots on the PS3 meaning that you can hook up a mouse and keyboard to the PS3 if you want to type information in rather than using the controller. This is actually very handy because you can now browse the internet from your PS3 so you can use the keyboard to type in web addresses and other things which is very useful as it takes a long time to type with a game controller. ...When you think of a games console you think heavy, uncomfortable and always getting tangled in wires. Well not the PS3 sixaxis controller. The first point of interest is the wireless cabability of the controller. The controller uses bluetooth which allows a constant stream of information from the controller to the PS3 with no lag time. The second is because it is bluetooth the range of the controller is about 20m, you will never need this much length but it means there will be no-where in the room that you can't use it. The last point about bluetooth is that it does not need a direct connection therefore the contoller doesn't have to be in direct vie of the PS3. ...The main reason why you would want a fan attached to the PS3 is to cool it down. Everyone I have spoken to that has one finds that if they use it for long periods of game play (let's face it who doesn't), then the console gets very hot. This is very bad for it because all the components do not perform to their best, which may mean reduced performance while playing, or more crucially, a shorter life span. With the components inside getting overheated many times, it means that they will not last as long, and there have been some reports where PS3 get very slow or just stop. Sony have indicated that it does get hot sometimes, and have put LED lights on it to tell you to switch it off so it can cool down. ...Background: I got this game with my PS3 (as do most people!) so i didnt really choose it. I had low expectations to be honest, as i thought if they are bundling it with so many packages maybe its a game people dont buy off the shelf?! As opposed to the people who thought its bundled with PS3 to show off what it can do! ...i was pleasantly surprised!! I have rated this game "Excellent" but i want to put that into perspective, i have played this game more than any other so far on the PS3 and it is a great game, but it has some faults too. ...When I first got my PS3 I was a bit nervous that I would not be satisfied with it after spending £200 and wasting a birthday present. I agree that the price is a bit steep however the PS3 is a blu-ray DVD player, why is this important? Blu-Ray DVDs give incredibly good quaility movies the discs themselves can hold around 50GB of information. The reason why I am telling you this is because not only is the PS3 a good Blu-Ray player it is the cheapest one in the world and not only is it a DVD player! ...To coin a phrase "I couldn't put it down." It was frankly stunning. I almost felt the bullets leave my gun... thats how involved it was. The game was stunningly visual and the A.I. works very well. The new input of cut scenes which require the gamer to fight the enemy while enjoying the game's visuals. As you play the game you feel more and more involved as the game drags you into its story line. The normal call of duty game play is evident it almost surpasses that you encounter on PC. Down the sight works perfectly on the ps3 unlike it did on ps2. The new trigger buttons that are used on the ps3 controllers are very useful. Buy this game you will not be dissapointed.... ...Action guns horror guts is what this game has to offer. So far I would say this was the second best game I have played on the ps3 (first being godfarther). Compare this game to resistance of man and itwalks all over it. The movement is convincing, when you shoot someone it actualy looks like they have just been hit, shoot a person in the leg and watch them fall down and stumble back up. What is so important about the movement and realism of this game is that it make it feel like you are in the game, you will find youself trying to see round corners or not wanting to go into a room because you are actually to scared to go in.
