Capital Pub guide!
Advantages: Compact, well written and informative.
Disadvantages: Absolutely none at all!
.... This is when we found out that it is easy to adapt the walks and cut out bits if your time schedule needs it. There are also ways to link a couple of individual walks together if you have longer to spend. The different walks to suit all tastes, whether you are a beer connoisseur or if you want to sight see around some of London's famous land marks, shop en route, go to theatre land, or just want to see the lovely pub buildings.
Bob Steel gives information on landmarks and any other interesting features you may see on the way, enhancing your visit. There are also "try also" pubs as well as the featured ones to give you plenty of choice. Additionally, and very usefully, the pub listings also tell you whether the pubs serve food or snacks and when you can expect the food to be served to and from.
London Pub Walks is easy to use...

Food for thought
Advantages: Compare foods you like to my preferences
Disadvantages: The 'Marmite' will stir up a debate I'm sure, lol
...What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth...
In no particular order; let's begin
1. Fish
-Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity.
Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on!
Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack...

Take a trip on Kev's text-only pub crawl - alcohol not provided!
Advantages: Reasonably-priced, occasionally cheap
Disadvantages: You might find me in one of them
...between Nana from 'The Royle Family' and the old lady from 'Titanic'. Going forward, I am unreserved as to my feelings for the pub and may be tempted to stray to 'The Beehive' at weekends, although I doubt it will have the same appeal and character. We will see what the new owner brings to the place, although he has gotten rid of all of the staff to bring in his mongy-looking family, which I disagree with...
THE PIED BULL
A lovely old-fashioned pub located in the deepest, perhaps most-historic part of Chester. The pub is the oldest in Chester, dating as far back as the 14th century, and is an old coaching inn. I believe the mother of the new landlord of The Flookersbrook officially opened it! Boasting an expansive yet inexpensive food menu, including 'Pie of the Day' and very reasonably priced, it is a place I take family and friends...

The Cricketers Pub
Advantages: large garden, BBQ's held on Sunday, cheap drinks, friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: A little out of town
...The Cricketers Pub is located in the village of River, just outside Dover. It is located right next door to Crabble Cricket, Football and Rugby Grounds.
I like the Cricketers pub as it certainly has a village feel to it, and you tend to get a good crowd of people in here because it is not in the main town, and doesnt attract young drunks!
The Pub
The bar inside is fairly large with plenty of seating. There is a large plasma TV which shows various sporting events such as football, tennis and rugby games. There is a lower level to the bar area, and in here are a couple of gaming machines as well as pool tables. In one corner there is also a dart board. To the left of the pool tables, is a small corridor which leads out to the male and female toilets. If you walk past the toilets, you will find yourself in the pub garden. There is...

It's pub time !!
Advantages: Has been a lot of drinking involved..
Disadvantages: Sometimes get a hangover.
...I have just found this subject in the Ciao café and thought it is such an apt subject for me to do !
As a few of you know I like a pint or three and since I turned 18 I have visited more pubs than I can ever possibly remember, however I have had some favourites in the last 14 years and will take you some of them, where they are etc?
10.The haystack pub, Canvey island high street.
This is situated at the very start of the high street and is very well known. This pub has been on the island since the early 1920's with various refits, various names.
Now this is mainly known as a youngsters pub with modern music as rap, hip hop, and dance tunes.
The drinks are quite expensive for canvey for wine beer and alcopops. The soft drinks are almost as expensive but this pub has some good history and good food during the day.

Good old pub food
Advantages: Good pub food not microwaved!
Disadvantages: Always seem to have run out of something on the menu
...I've visited a number of Beefeater pubs and have yet to be disappointed. If you want a good old pub meal then you can count on Beefeater to satisfy. Beefeater have an extensive menu so suit every taste. The thing I love about Beefeater is that they have a good selection of traditional food but they also do things that are not your usual 'run of the mill' foods, excellent if you have more adventurous tastes!
***Starters***
Their starters range from soup of the day, breaded mushrooms, and pate, to mussels (not what you'd expect to see on a pub menu!) and lamb kofta's. They also do a nice sharing platter with a selection of starters for £7.99, which isn't too bad considering each starter is between £3.50 and £5 anyway.
***Mains***
Their main courses are just as varied as the starters. The normal pub favourite, steak, is...

Country pub with great food
Advantages: Good car parking, lovely rural location
Disadvantages: A bit 'out in the sticks'
...a modern design and looks clean and fresh. This pub is close to the Alton Water reservoir which is a popular local beauty spot. If you head back from here towards Ipswich you pass Jimmy's Farm which was made popular by the television programme of the same name.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and looking for somewhere for traditonal British pub food....

Nice pub, shame about the food
Advantages: Very traditional
Disadvantages: Could do with a good clean!
...made the place seem very friendly. I really liked the bar. It was traditional and the staff were friendly (although Australian rather than Scottish!). The main problem was the fact that not only had the bar not been decorated in what looked like three hundred years, it also hadn't been cleaned for almost as long. There were cobwebs everywhere and layers of dust on everything - I would not have been willing to have eaten there, although there were a selection of bar meals advertised. Luckily we'd already eaten earlier in the evening.
There are two other rooms that can be accessed from the bar; the Poacher's Den, a small, cosy room with bar and the Laird's Bothy, which doubles both as extra space for the pub and as a dining room.
The rooms
There was unfortunately no room in the hotel itself, although in retrospect I'm not sure that...

My 400th Review - And It's About A Pub!
Advantages: Good Atmosphere, Good Entertainment, Good Food
Disadvantages: Very Busy At Times
...very same spot.
The Sherwood opened in 1983 and instantly became a very popular venue. Benefiting from the fact that this was a purpose built place it was not only one of the largest Pubs for miles around it was one of the first in the area to set itself up specifically for Pub food. A whole room, the size of most standard Pubs nearby was set aside just for food. Within just a few months the Sherwood had built up a good reputation for food and on a Friday and Saturday Coaches full of partygoers would descend on here like flies around dogs**te.
The fortunes of the Sherwood however have not always been so good and during the early 1990's this place became a victim of its own success. The popularity of the place at weekends made it a magnet for a small minority of troublemakers in the City to gather and try and pick a fight, and before...

Good Pub Restaurants unless you go to this branch
Advantages: Good selection, meal deal, good service
Disadvantages: This Branch needs a kick up the backside.
...tables to smoking so that they could keep all the reserved tables together. This upset a great deal of the customer in the restaurant
During the time, we were there, as we heard the staff getting quite a few complaints.
The tables were all clean and presentable and were all clearly numbered to enable the ordering of food for the correct table to be easier. The cutlery however was wrapped in napkins and left in old black metal pots on each table, rather than stored away. This meant that they were left in a smoky environment for goodness knows how long until they were actually used. There were not enough salt, pepper, vinegar pots and sauce holders for the number of tables and this was causing customers to have to ask other customers to use them once they had finished with them on there particular table.
The pub is very dark and gloomy...
