Puerto de Pollensa
Advantages: Peaceful
Disadvantages: Distance from airport
...If you are of the opinion, (which I was I must admit), that Majorca was a place frequented by only the young and noisy then think again. On the northern part of the island is a resort called Puerto Pollensa which bears no resemblance to the lively southern part of the island. It is heaven on earth. A lovely, peaceful resort which has not seen that much development and retains a very spanish feel to it. Set on a beautiful long, white, sandy beach with the clear blue water on one side and mountains on the other, it truly gives a diferent perspective to Majorca. No discos, just friendly little restaurants, bars and cafes. Ideal for families with younger children and for couples looking for a romantic spot.!!
Downside is that it is an hour's drive from the airport and with many of the island's 'tourist' attractions situated in...

Loro Parque - Puerto de la Cruz
Advantages: Amazing wildlife and shows
Disadvantages: Long journey depending on where your staying
...Loro Parque is probably the best attraction on the Canary Island of Tenerife. Although the journey via coach from Puerto de Santiago took a tiring 3 and a bit hours to Puerto de la Cruz, it was well worth it. I would strongly recommend watching all of the shows around the park such as the sealions, whales, dolphins and the parrots. The dolphin and whale shows were amazing and I must admit that they topped those of Sea World, Orlando, Florida. Loro Parque meaning "Parrot Park" in Spanish lives up to the name as the park is based around the hundreds of different parrots they own. If you are on holiday to Tenerife, do not hesistate to visit this park. With animals ranging from penguins to tigers to gorillas, it truly is somewhere to visit as it is a brilliant place for families, couples, groups of friends or even by yourself. Do not miss...

Castillo de Sol, Puerto Rico
Advantages: Clean, Good entertainment for the kids, good pool
Disadvantages: up the hillside
...This was our third trip to Puerto Rico and the first time we had stayed on the hillside.
We stayed during the middle of October 2006
The Castillo de Sol Apartments are very clean. We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment. The bedroom was a good size with two good sized wardrobes and a dressing table with a nice large mirror. As always, it was a twin bedded room so we just slid the beds together.
Our daughter slept on the sofa bed in the lounge area (bedding was left for us).
There was a hand towel and a bath towel for each of us which were changed every other day. bedding was changed once during the week we stayed. The maids cleaned 5-6 days per week.
The rooms are basic but more than adequate for our needs (somewhere to get changed and to sleep at night!) We did have a TV in the room which took Euro coins and even the smaller 10...

Food for the Soul.
Advantages: Beach, sea, food, relaxation, more food
Disadvantages: A busy road - be careful out there.
...A quick guide to Puerto Pollensa
I'm no great traveller and I'm even less of a travel-writer. This may hit the spot, it may not. Let's see shall we?
I've been visiting Puerto Pollensa on the north-eastern tip of Mallorca for 25 years now and I can quite categorically say, it's my favourite part of the world. Many a wonderful holiday has been spent there and each time I go, a flood of happy memories come to me like the gentle lapping of the water on the golden beaches. In all that time, I've seen a few changes but the essence of the place has remained unchanged. Thanks to frugal town-planning where only old buildings can give way to new, Puerto Pollensa has retained the charm that so enticed us in the summer of '82 and just about every year since.
First of all though, if you're reading this hoping to get an idea for your...

Puerto Pollensa - Family Destination
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...If you are considering Puerto Pollensa as a family holiday destination do not hesitate. Having just come back from two glorious weeks I heartily recommend it. Puerto Pollensa is a quiet resort in the north of Majorca. It is situated in a beautiful bay and as a good beach and a wide variety of good restaurants. The accommodation that we stayed in was very good (Habitat apartments). It had 3 swimming pools, nightly entertainment and children?s activities during the day. Whether you enjoy beach/pool holidays or want to travel Puerto Pollensa is a great place. The bus service is very good. You can visit busy Alcudia or if you like something even quieter and idyllic Cala San Vicente. A 15-minute bus ride gets you to Cala San Vicente, which is possibly the most beautiful place on the Island. Even so Cala San Vicente is amazingly quiet. It has...

Ocean World, Puerto Plata.....more than just dolphins!
Advantages: Wonderful Experience - A must visit
Disadvantages: Absolutely none
...I had the good fortune to visit Ocean World, located in Puerto Plata on the lovely island of Domincan Republic last year.
It was my birthday while we were away, so my fiance and I decided to book the day trip with our travel rep, the idea being that on my birthday I would be swimming with dolphins! I was so excited as this is something that I had always wanted to do, but never got the opportunity until now...
Ocean World
Having driven through the man-made waterfall we had entered Ocean World Adventure Park. First impressions... were very impressive.
Ocean World is home to one of the largest dolphin t man made dolphin habitats and its amazing......
Dolphins
I had always wanted to swim with dolphins for as long as I can remember and now was my chance.
After 'showering down' to make sure any perfumes, suncreams etc were...

Visit the Orchid Garden!
Advantages: Nice to visit, pretty, shady
Disadvantages: Quite small
... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Orchid Garden Review * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Recently I visited Tenerife for almost two weeks and this is another review of somewhere I visited. Another Tenerife review I have written is on Loro Parque and is quite a good review in my opinion! Anyway today I am going to review the Orchid Gardens.
While in Tenerife recently I visited the Orchid Gardens in Puerto de la Cruz. The garden was just up the road from the hotel I stayed in which is the Casablanca and probably took about 3 minutes to walk to from there! The orchid garden is a really interesting place to visit but it seemed to be very quiet ?although apparently it is busier in the winter! This is a shame as the gardens are a really nice place just to be in and relax and should be enjoyed by more people and I wish that more...

A Fun Day Out in Tenerife!
Advantages: Good fun, suitable for all
Disadvantages: Expensive food and drink
...supermarkets or shops!
Overall I had a really good time at the Lido and think most people would enjoy themselves there too. I would recommend it to everyone as everyone can enjoy it. The Lido was quite cheap but I would not want to pay to go in there for an hour or something especially when most hotels have a pool! I think it was about 14 euros for four of us. I think it is open most of the time but it is definitely busier on the weekends.
I think the Martinez Lido is well worth visiting if in Puerto de La Cruz and would recommend it even if you are not staying in the North as it is a fun day out!
4/5
Thanks for reading!

De-lightful and stunning venue!
Advantages: Excellent service, beautiful grounds, superb accommodation
Disadvantages: Not close to public transport access
...excellent. One of our friends had the Thetford pork loin, one had the organic salmon, and three of us opted for the carvery which on weekends you had to have two courses, but given the selection of starters and desserts was no real trial! - We naturally went for the dessert option! We also had drinks and a couple bottles of wine - No-one in our group could fault the quality and service, especially when the member of waiting staff overheard us wishing our friend happy birthday - She asked if we would like some balloons - and a few minutes later came back with a bunch all ribboned and weighted! You can see the full selection of menus offered at Dunston Hall if you go to the De Vere website. After lunch we took and gentle stroll in the grounds, and were able to view parts of the golf course that are part of the complex.
As we were only...
