The New Adventures of Old Vallarta

Advantages: Lovely promenade and old town, great weather
Disadvantages: Not many restaurants in the hotel zone

...we were leaving to come home, we found the airport had a very good selection of shops and restaurants to kill time before a delayed-as-expected flight. The airport is located near the Marina, in-between the resorts of Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta. The only taxi service available is the extortionate 'authorised-airport-taxi' set-up, which cost us 195 pesos (just under £10) to our hotel in the hotel zone. That may not sound too bad, but coming back we picked up a taxi right outside the hotel and it cost 50 pesos (£2.50) for the same journey in reverse. There are 3 main parts to Vallarta, and we explored all of them. PUERTO VALLARTA includes the old town and the hotel zone. We stayed on the edge of this and it was an hour's walk along an uninspired road to reach the proper old town. Alternatively, busses run this route too...

Viva Las Mexico

Advantages: Great weather, great people, cheap prices loads to do!
Disadvantages: None

...Back in 1996 Alex and I decided to take our annual holiday, usually when we took our holidays we would go in the winter months, this was always cheaper and it was easier for me to get holidays at work. Anyway this year I had changed jobs and I was the one that decided the holidays and vowed that I would be taking a summer holiday for a change even if it meant more expense. A lot of my friends have told me that they are saving up for the holiday of a lifetime, but how do you know that you are going to enjoy that holiday? I like to take the holiday as it comes and make form it whatever you will then decide if that was your holiday of a lifetime. That is exactly what happened when we went to Puerto Vallarta in 1996, there was no lifetime saving (I am only 27) no working all the hours under the sun! Just a last minute deal to Mexico...

sunsational!!!!!!

Advantages: sun, sea, sand.................
Disadvantages: no sangria............tequila instead!!! lol

...My (then) husband, 2 daughters and myself flew from Gatwick airport to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, all inclusive, costing £3,200 December 2003 for 3 weeks (was just as cheap for 3 weeks as it was for 2). After a 9 hour flight delay and a 14 hour flight with a 1 hour stop in the Dominican Republic to refuel (even though it was middle of the night and couldn't see anything, we were not allowed off the plane, at least I can say I've been to the Dominican Republic!!! lol) we finally arrived in Puerto Vallarta at 4am, the heat hit us immediately! So Good - We're Going Back

Advantages: Relax or Explore at your Leisure
Disadvantages: Take care if you don't like creepy crawlies.

...We visited Puerto Vallarta in May of this year for 2 weeks as a family group of 13. Such a fantastic destination with extremely wonderful people who can't do enough to help you. The cost of the holiday (arranged through Thomas Cook) was insignificant compared to the quality of the resort. As we went "All Inclusive" it was easy to come and go as you pleased, free sporting activities and evening shows were wonderful and well organised. External activities like horse-riding, swimming with dolphins, and scuba diving were reasonably priced. The only recommendation I have as far as the dolphins were concerned is that it's better to see them in their natural environment so rather than go to an enclosure, take out a jet-ski or sail boat and surf alongside them in the beautiful Bay of Banderas. This holiday was so wonderfully relaxing...

Ocean World, Puerto Plata.....more than just dolphins!

Advantages: Great unforgetable holiday!

...We went to Puerto Vallarta for 2 weeks on an all inclusive holiday. We booked it last minute, and then read up on it later, we were a bit worried when we found it was the rainy season, but when we got there everything was fine, it only rains in the evening. We stayed next to the Marina in the Vista club hotel. the people there are really friendly, and can't do enough to help you. The bus rides are cheap and fun, there is usually someone playing an insrument, or busking in some sort of way, but its all good fun.We went with First Choice, they were great, there are many excursions you can go on. i'd recommend going to Guadalahara, (the second largest city), to see what Mexico is really like! The watersports are limitless, From jet skis to sailing boats, there's someting to suit everyone, and if you don't like the sea, then there...

Breezes Hotel Puerto Plata

...I stayed at this 3+ star hotel for 2 weeks last March and overall i was pretty impressed. This hotel located at Puerto Plata was beautifully decorated and very clean and well kept, it seemed more like a 4 star hotel that a 3 star. We paid a little under £2,000 for two weeks all inclusive and this was for a double room with sea views. The hotel is right on the beach so the views were absolutely amazing.. We found most of the staff friendly and we got checked in within 15 minutes. On arrival our bags were collected and taken straight away so we could go straight to the reception to check in. This hotel is ideal for keen golfers and watersports fans as the hotel is right on the beach and has a large golf course to the side of the hotel. ...If you are considering Puerto Pollensa as a family holiday destination do not hesitate. Having just come back from two glorious weeks I heartily recommend it. Puerto Pollensa is a quiet resort in the north of Majorca. It is situated in a beautiful bay and as a good beach and a wide variety of good restaurants. The accommodation that we stayed in was very good (Habitat apartments). It had 3 swimming pools, nightly entertainment and children?s activities during the day. Whether you enjoy beach/pool holidays or want to travel Puerto Pollensa is a great place. The bus service is very good. You can visit busy Alcudia or if you like something even quieter and idyllic Cala San Vicente. ...If you are of the opinion, (which I was I must admit), that Majorca was a place frequented by only the young and noisy then think again. On the northern part of the island is a resort called Puerto Pollensa which bears no resemblance to the lively southern part of the island. It is heaven on earth. A lovely, peaceful resort which has not seen that much development and retains a very spanish feel to it. Set on a beautiful long, white, sandy beach with the clear blue water on one side and mountains on the other, it truly gives a diferent perspective to Majorca. No discos, just friendly little restaurants, bars and cafes. Ideal for families with younger children and for couples looking for a romantic spot.!! Great apartments in Puerto Del Carmen

...We stayed in these apartments in late Septemder and thiught they were great. They are in the centre of Puerto del Carmen and are rally close to the beach just 200 metres and the main strip of bars, pubs and restaurants. There are supermarkets located at each end of the street. Use the hill beside the spar as it is not as steep as the one on the left which they call cadiac hill. The apartments we stayed in were opposite reception they are 1 and 2 storied in three different locations - oppsite reception and pool and to either side of the pool. The apartments are spacious and have large a living/kitchen area, bathroom and bedroom. There is a tv in the room with some English Channels however you can pay at reception to get more channels like movies. We found them extremely clean and the maid cleaned every day.
