So, my midwife suggested that I use a breast pump to express some milk off, and that I give him 20 ml in a small cup towards the end of every feed. Now I had bought a manual breast pump when my daughter was a baby, but to be honest with you, I'd never really got on with it. I found it quite uncomfortable on my breast, and it really made my hand ache trying to work the thing! So, I decided to look into the various options available for an electric breast pump. Review of Pumping Iron (DVD)

Pump, pump, pump - but no milk!

Advantages: Small and easy to handle
Disadvantages: Breast cup not big enough, noisy and the suction was very weak, expensive

...I'm sure if you have a smaller breast then this might be a good pump for you, but having my breasts swell to a 42J cup this did nothing for me at all. I found the breast cup piece did not sit well at all and the suction was terrible. It didn't hug the breast as well as a hand held version nor did it pump quick enough to really get a good flow of milk going. It also makes quiet a loud noise when pumping so you have to do it in a room where your baby isn't! It is small and compact, so ideal for travelling but it means that you cannot get much milk in the bottle as it's so small so you have to empty it on a regular basis (that's if you get that far!) It is quiet expensive too, I paid over £50 for this even though a £10 hand held from tescos did the job much better!!! Overall it was easy to handle but it just didn't have enough...

easy to use breast pump

...I made sure that when I had my first baby I got a good breast pump so that I could not only enjoy breastfeeding my litle one, I could also ahv some time off while someone else fed my son but he still had breastmilk. This pump is a nice size and doesnt feel uncomfortable and you can adjust the strength. I found in the morning I was able to express more and I didnt use the strength of the pump to get some milk The importance of pumping while feeding is that it tricks your body into believing you are feeding baby and you therefore produce more milk. ...I think it is fair to say that I was prepared and planned for Aleyna's birth. I spent the last 2 months of my pregnancy nesting, organising, obsessing, much to my husband's delight as I am normally a little slovenly!! However nothing could have prepared us for Aleyna spending 2 weeks in intensive care. Pump It Up - A hard but fun workout

This is the real tough one. It is very high energy and for the first half of the section you are constantly moving. This section also includes the Call On Me song complete with the aerobic moves from the video. This is one of my favourite bits. Although make sure you are on your own as you do look a bit silly thrusting away. This section towards the end slows down to some of the easier moves earlier on in the DVD. ...I bought this particular breast pump since I had bought the Tommee Tippee steriliser & already had several of the closer to nature bottles which I knew would be compatible with the pump. (As it turned out, a smaller screw ring comes witht he pump for use with narrower bottles). The pump is easy to assemble - just 3 parts. In the box you'll also find a microwave sterilising box, which is ideal since if you're breastfeeding there isn't always a real need for a large electric steriliser. Includes one bottle & a storage lid, both of which are freezer/dishwasher safe. Also included are some samples of TT breast pads. (But they're another story....!). I've read other peoples reviews of breast pumps & am worried to find that people seem to think they're not producing enough milk & that using a pump confirms this. I too thought...
