Pune - I could never have imagined .......

Advantages: An amazing experience!
Disadvantages: Some distrubing times!

...Pune is one of the newest city in India to be descended upon by the big multi national companies. It is this that gave me the opportunity to visit. Pune can be found in Western Maharashtra, 115 miles south-east of Mumbai(Bombay). Here I am going to try and give you an account of my experience. Firstly a little about me, I am not a hugely travelled person and the places I have been are typical tourist places, like Lanzerote, Rhodes etc. So for me this was a pretty exciting trip to experience a new culture. Well I arrived at Pune airport in the dark, and it wasn't until the return journey that I could really take the airport in! It is a little place on the edge of an air base.   If it's good enough for Brad and Angelina....

Advantages: Fantastic Experience and a real eye opener. Amazing people.
Disadvantages: Can be very upsetting. Not for the faint hearted.

I started travelling to Pune in 2005, when my company decided to undertake some of it's work out there - I should point out that we are one of the lucky companies that hasn't lost jobs in the UK as a result of this, but expanded into India. DEATH comes......a-hiring

Advantages: Good characters | Stronger Story | Very Readable | Many Layers |
Disadvantages: Not as funny as some of the books

...the series. Yes there were a few puns (or punes even) scattered within the pages, but there was no point at which I laughed out loud. This was a little disappointing but, thankfully, the actual characterisations more than made up for the lack of laughs. The main character of the book, is not (as you might think) Mort (although he obviously plays an important part), indeed it is that ultimate in undertakers, DEATH, who steals the show. In the three books previous to this one, we had only be shown glimpses of DEATH's character, in fact just enough to whet our appetites. In this book, however, DEATH comes into his own, his naivety, and lack of understanding of human emotions really shines through. I found DEATH to be such a complex character, that it was, at times, hard to remember that he is essentially just a skeleton, and as for his struggles...

Review of Mysore (India)

Too Many Holes Makes the Fortress Weak

Advantages: Some good action scenes, the character of Ernie Tankado is interesting
Disadvantages: Corny Romance, Plot full of holes, shallow characters

...and Demons. While Robert Langdon was the primary character in both the novels, in both the cases the female character is beautiful, sexy and intelligent. And yes oh yes, again in both the novels, the guy whom we presume to be the good guy turns out to be the bad guy, and the guy we presume to be the bad guy turns out to be the good one. Both have a contract killer running around murdering people. Now interesting though Angels and Demons was some how I could not help feeling a sense of déjà vu, when it came to the clue solving part. The code cracking which was interesting in DVC, seemed so dull in Angels and Demons. Anyway when I picked up Digital Fortress on a flight from Delhi to Pune, I assumed that this book would be different as this time it was related to my field computers and so there was not going to be any religious mumbo jumbo...

An article about co-called traffic calming measures in the area perhaps would generate much mirth and bemusement well into the next century if not millennium. Issues surrounding pedestrianisation of the town centre and out-of-town shopping might be of interest to a future local historian. I could also throw in an odd article from an Indian newspaper on a related subject such as traffic in Pune where I lived for a while just to personalize it and sprinkle a little confusion. Item 3. ...Have you ever noticed just how many get-rich-quick schemes there are on the internet? I signed up to one ? out of curiosity three months ago. I have received just under one million* emails since then, and have earned myself$0.0056. I might soon have enough to afford a new mouse. Now, being something of a fiddler, I have created what I like to call the Random Terryiser. Basically, you feed in a lot of data ? humorous names, strange place names, a serious of puns or punes, and a randomising factor. After about 12 seconds, the program jumbles all of the ?ingredients? up and you get a perfectly legible essay that can be considered quite droll. Tim would live variously in communes in Suffolk, in Oregon in Pune and in Cologne. In some senses he had two or perhaps three hundred parent figures and in another sense he had the freedom to run around entirely as he chose to, as his liberty and freedom were encouraged on the communes. Parents were encouraged by Bhagwan to let their children go, and not to allow any clinginess to their biological parents. So Tim, or Yogesh as he became known, slept in a room with the other kids, not with his mother - and spent the days running wild in the great expanses of land or finding ways to entertain himself and his friends. This is such an enjoyable part of the book ? the security of commune life does in some ways...
