Overall this was a poor holiday especially with the amount of money Thomson charge for coming to this property, Staff are ignorant and rude and also the general Breezes holiday experience was appauling, i will never return to a Breezes hotel again or one of their partners after this experience. As i have said this was my third time to the Dominican republic and it has put me off completely, however i did enjoy my two other holidays here at the Occidental Allegro Punta cana (Carribbean village) Bavaro, and also the Clubhotel Riu Bachata (Puerto Plata/bahia De Maimon). ...speaking Canadians and German than anything else (and Spanish/South American)but everyone seems very friendly and the kids get along regardless of the language barrier. We went on an excellent trip to the shipwreck just off the coast. Then returned by Catamaran. A really good half day out with plenty of Rum & Coke all day long if you want it! Booked at the kiosk by the hotel pool, quite a bit cheaper than the tour operators' prices. I think it cost about US$45 each. The Town of Es Caná in Ibiza

Advantages: Hot, relaxing, sunny, clear water, lots to do

If you take a walk to the North of Es Caná you will find Cala Nova and Cala Leña which lead to very relaxing and restful shady spots to take in the beautiful coatline. If you head South you can walk to Santa Eulalia past Cala Martina and S'Aramassa and take in the wonderful views of the Mediterranean. Es Caná is also famous for it's Hippy Market which takes place every Wednesday in the grounds of Club Punta Arabi between the months of May and October. There are always good parking facilities, but the bus is recommended during the high season as there can be a lot of traffic. It is not a long walk to the Hippy Market from Es Caná and only took me and my boyfriend about 20 minutes to walk there. ...I have literally JUST come back from a three and a half week tour of Chile, and I must say that Punta Arenas was the highlight! Home of the penguins, this snowy area is the only place in the world I am sure where you can buy postcards of Antartica! Families have maids, and they eat nothing but cake!- everybody not just the maids! There are a lot of British families there, and also a british school (called The British School- how original!) Not the greatest place to go if you are into shopping, or nice beaches! I popped down to the beach on an afternoon off and was greeted by more litter than your local dump! ...-bread to have with Dulce de Leche. Overall we spent very little time going around, but what there was was very nice. Apparently lots of richy celebs stay at the Conrad, which is some big hotel/casino place. Very big, very nice to look at and very richy. We went in and looked around - bigger than any hotel ive ever been in (though I dont really look at many). The other reviewers probably spent more time there, as tourists, in summer months - which is what Punta del Este is really for. A place definately worth visiting, if you go to Uruguay....

...My partner and I have just returned from Puerto Plata. We stayed at the Barcelo Punta Goleta Hotel and had a blast. Accommodation The room was simple and clean and we always had hot water for showers. We did not have any problems with bugs, in fact, I only seen one in the room in the fortnight we were there. I would still suggest that it's always a good idea to take insect repellent whenever you go to the Caribbean just incase. In the room there were two queen sized beds - this was a blessing because at night it can get really hot and a couple of times I found it difficult to sleep in the same bed as my partner because of the heat. Hotel Caribe, Es Cana, Ibiza

...a bloke who was lying on a bed of nails and walking on glass one night which my younger children didnt like. The animation team were good during the day and organised football, shooting and darts games amongst other things. The bar prices were reasonable, would be a good AI hotel. Food was very nice, also was hot! although it did have the usual chips and nuggets, it also had fish, meat dishes and plenty of salads and veggies changed nightly. The desserts were gorgeous and the breakfasts were very good too. I have an awkward teenage eater and he found plenty fo things to eat. Only one grumble at breakfast, not enough yogurts!!!! The hotel itself is right in the middle of the resort of Es Cana and there was a fair with rides and trampolines for the kids and the beach was just a short walk away. Es Cana is a lovely place.
