Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2i 8v

Advantages: Great Looks, Low Tax, Cheap Insurance
Disadvantages: Ride Hieght, Slight Roll On Cornering

...Having recently handed my little Saxo over to my little sister for her lessons and run around. Its time to look for a new car, So I came accross a really nice "Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2i 8v". Read below to find my opinion of this car so far....... Performance~ This car is awesome on petrol, Obviously depending on the way its driven its averagin about 48ish MPG. ALthough not as responsive as the saxo was and requires higher revs in lower gears to do this, Another slight downside is the ride height and suspension set up as the car feels very high, and also as if it is going to roll when taking corners at speed. Exterior~ The Active Sport variant of the Punto is in one word "sexy", Its got curves, and straight lines in all the right place. Again a slight draw back is the gap between the top of the wheels and the botton...

Fiat Punto 1.2 3DR

Advantages: Nippy, cheap to run, ideal first car!
Disadvantages: Body can dent easily

...The model i am describing is shown in the title. I have a X reg 2000 manufactured model. It is light blue and does not have colour coded bumpers, unlike the 2002+ models. I started with a mk1 punto when i began driving over a year ago, the mk1 has its problems which i will not go into now as it is not what i am reviewing. However when i upgraded to the mk2 i was much more inpressed. When i first entered the mk2 it felt alot more roomier and the interior design in my opinion is alot more stylish and modern, which is what i expected. The interiour colour scheme is similar to the colour on the exterior. For example my punto is light blue on the exterior and thus dark blue interior. When i started the engine i didnt think it had actually started, it had but it was so quiet compared to the mk1 i didnt realise the engine was running...

Fiat Punto 1.2, to buy or not to buy!?

Advantages: Cheap to run, looks, practicality.
Disadvantages: performance not fantastic

...Many of us know that the Italians have produced many wonderful cars, often decribed in term of their sole and passion. However, does this statement remain true with the Fiat Punto, I believe it does. Being one of the most unoffensive vehicles on the road, it is a car which simply blends in to all surroundings, and will often go unoticed (unless bright yellow and pimped!). This in my opinion is a good thing, as it allows you to get by from day to day without having complete strangers stare at you; this also prevents embarassment on the odd occasion when you have to pick your nose for example! Looks: you gotta love the design of this car, its funky, smart, and just looks a nice piece of work. Inside is rather basic, but everything that is needed is there, so I give it a thumbs up. Performance: With this car, you're not gonna be...

Pedalling the Punto

Advantages: Fairly inexpensive to buy
Disadvantages: Parts are expensive, insurance grouping is high

...produce them in ! What is it like to drive ? ************************* The model I have driven is a 1.2, 16 valve model with 80 BHP. You would think a 1.2 engine on this car would be enough, however, I found the car to be rather gutless. However, in fairness to the car, most vehicles I drive have engine sizes in excess of 2 litres. Despite this, you would be amazed how fast I can get a car to go on the motorway between Valencia and Alicante, especially as a lot of it is downhill !!! Acceleration was poor and you had to work the engine hard to gain speed quickly. This was particularly noticeable if the car was fully loaded - not ideal for a family ! The Punto feels quite light and "tinny" and I did not feel particularly safe in it, again though I do not drive small cars that often and do like to have a lot of metal around me...

Bye Bye Punto

Advantages: good all rounder
Disadvantages: -

...There always comes a time when we are fed up with our current car and want to move onto something new and that time has come for me. I currently have a Fiat Punto Active Sport in Imola Yellow (Bright Yellow) to suit my personality but its warranty has just expired, I'm a little bit fed up of of and want to try something different, particularly looking at Honda Civic or possibly Seat Leon. Over the years, I have had 4 Fiat vehicles, at one point I was marketing manager for a Fiat dealership so I suppose I was being loyal to the brand there and tended to stick to what I knew best but overall I have found every Fiat that I have owned to be superb little motors. My current Punto is 1.2 Active Sport, 54 plate therefore manufactured in 2004. All Fiat vehicles when purchased new come with three years warranty and as per usual are not...

Power to the Punto!

Advantages: Relatively Cheap, Feels Safe, Modern Design, Reliable, Fuel Efficient
Disadvantages: Insurance, Maintenance Costs

...After months of driving round in my 2000 W plate 5 Door Punto 1.2 I think it's about time to dish out some opinions... First off I'll be honest, I've been biased towards the Fiat Punto ever since my family laid our hands on the older model 75 ELX and thankfully I still am. Basically the Punto is modern, unique Italian design with moderate safety measures and a decent track record for reliability... That is if you treat it well enough. Features: (On my model 1.2Mk2 5 Door S) Just a run down of the main features on the vehicle, NOT a complete list. 5 Door Hatchback (Mk2a) Power Steering (with optional advanced City Mode) Standard 14-inch wheels Blue Contrast Interior Metallic Silver Paint Black Front & Rear Bumpers Internal Boot Catch 2 Part exhaust system 1.2L Injection engine 47...

Diamond review  Parking Ping Prone Punto

Advantages: Fuel economy and cheap to insure
Disadvantages: Several

...the jets had come loose and continued to do so after being re-connected. The repair however, was relatively minor and has been no problem since. Other than that the car has ran smoothly, with just the occasional oil top up required. Spare parts if needed can be expensive, so it pays to shop around as they are readily available. INSURANCE The Punto is quite a cheap car to insure, with this particular model falling into insurance group 3. Kept on a driveway overnight, with an annual estimated mileage of 10,000, full (protected) no claims discount and not the worlds best postcode it costs me just over £300 to insure it fully comprehensively. RIGHT I'M GONNA DRIVE OFF NOW In summary the Fiat Punto S60 1.2 is an ideal car if your generally a town driver looking for a small car to get you from A to B. With good fuel economy and cheap...

Punto To The Rescue

Advantages: Decent engine with low emissions and fuel in-take.
Disadvantages: Tiny top speed and power-steering failure occurs too often.

...excellent 'city' steering mode, increasing its sensitivity. - About a month in I took the car to a local garage after I witnessed the engine producing strange vibrations on tick-over. It turned out the engine needed a new head-gasket (£300 minimum). This problem is not common in punto's, but I thought I'd list all issues I've had in the last 6months nonetheless. Despite what I have written, you have to take into consideration the price I paid for my car and the age (8-years) it was, then determine whether the faults I witnessed were really that bad! - I don't think they were. Over the course of the last 6-months, up until present day, I have spent just over £1,600 on a car worth around £2,000. That's how I've weighed up the positives of my little red punto with the negatives. I'd also like to let you know about the Punto's features in...

The Fiat Punto - An ideal First car!

Advantages: Cheap to run and Fun to Drive, Excellent Value for Money
Disadvantages: Safety, Style

...I began driving this time last year and my first car was and still is a Fiat Punto 1.2 S, T-reg 1999, 3 doors. For a student such as myself, I would say that it is an ideal first car to have and I have thoroughly enjoyed driving it. It is not lightning quick and insurance is cheap! Obviously because of the age of my car, it is not going to set the world on fire, but I have been very pleased with it so far. I paid £750 for it from an auction and two years previously it had been bought for £4,200! Luckily for me, it has so far been very reliable and I hope that it will last me until next year when I will sell it before I go to University. Ride Quality Obviously, the car's ride quality is not awesome compared to most modern cars around today. But if you can't afford to spend loads on a set of wheels, the Punto offers a very good...

ppppick up a punto today...

Advantages: practical and cheap from certain sources
Disadvantages: remnants of a lack of expense in some areas

...Punto was the least expensive and personally of great value for money. I was reluctant to spend my entire budget on the Focus, only to find that I would have preferred to have some extras such as a decent sound system. So why did I go for the Punto? The new 2003 model revives the original spirito di punto which incapsulates the little terriers which raced around European suburbia for the majority of the past decade. Also, I am a great fan of Ferrari, and even though I can not (and probably not ever!) afford one, any company, such as Fiat who has the sense to do business with Ferrari has my vote. This model comes with various specifications from the basic Active 1.2 to the racy Sporting with all its extras including a hefty price tag!! I opted for the Active for two reasons. One, to accommodate a low insurance bracket, even now I...
