...I have always been a fan of the radio and although I have quite specific music tastes, I enjoy having the variety and general natter of a radio on in the background, especially to reduce boredom or to make a place seem a little more alive when your home alone. The Pure One Digital DAB Radio is the first and only DAB radio I have owned, you?ve got to move with the times right? I had been thinking about purchasing one for a while after hearing good things about this little radio and have now been enjoying it for about 6 months. The Pure One comes in a choice of 3 colours; black, pink and white. Review of Pure Digital ONE Classic

PURE ONE DAB

Advantages: Great sound, attractive, easy to use.
Disadvantages: No carry handle.

...Wow! What can I say, I bought this in 2007 for £49.99. It is an excellent DAB Radio and depending where you are there are about 32 stations. The radio is light, small and easy to carry on long-distances. Attractive, mine is black. The night-light display is easy to read and after about an hour you will learn how to use all the functions and options. It receives FM and DAB. It does not have a carry handle so it is not as practical as some. With a lovely clear tone and a a one watt speaker, it is loud enough. The first one I bought was fine until a week later it wouldn't turn on. So, I took it back and got a replacement , the salesman saying he's never come across a faulty PURE. Anyway, my replacement as been absolutely brilliant. I have bought my father one and he has had no problems with his either. Highly recommended....

If you want DAB this is the ONE for you

Advantages: Great sound, affordable, a great introduction to DAB radio
Disadvantages: screen could be permanently back lit, not keen on the large control button

...At Christmas, as I was browsing the shops for inspiration regarding an unexpected present for my husband, I spotted the range of Dab radios in Currys. Speaking to the assistant he told me that some of the more expensive Dab radios actually did not produce any better sound than the less pricey and less elegant looking ones. I decided to go for the Pure Digital One priced at just under £50 and hoped that it would fit the bill. This radio was in either white or black plastic. I decided that the black would probably be more serviceable as white often yellows with time and the white one looked a little tacky. Give your ears some relief from bad FM reception

Advantages: Nice backlight and whats playing info., good sound quality for the size, not too expensive
Disadvantages: Not particularly portable, the ChargePAK is a good option but its not very cheap IMO

Pure Digital Evoke 3 DAB Radio - top sound for a portable radio

Advantages: Great sound, great features, record to SD card
Disadvantages: Can't record one station whilst listening to another, no MW and not the most intuitive to use.

...I pondered for ages trying to decide between the Roberts RD55 and Pure's Evoke 3 as I wanted something that had functionality to pause and rewind, record (specifically to SD card), play FM stations, have stereo sound and play MP3's as well as one that gave great sound and could carry base and wouldn't distort at high volumes but I couldn't find anywhere on the net that compared the 2. I knew the Evoke 3 had won loads of awards but that was in 2006 and with it being 2008 I realised technology would have moved on so the newer RD55 could have improved or equal quality sound without having won any awards. In the end I realised the only option was to actually go into a shop and listen to the sound for myself (having a baby I'd put off doing that as it can be such a mission to get out these days!). Pure Digital Sound for Sleepyheads.

Advantages: PURE DIGITAL SOUND
Disadvantages: I WISH IT WAS PORTABLE

...I have been living with my Pure Digital Tempus 1 now for about a year and it's wonderful. The sound quality is just great and I am always amazed that all that sound can come from just one small speaker. It has enabled me to listen to a large number of MW/LW stations with a new quality of sound that I could only have once listened to with a slightly muffled sound or not at all. Now I can fall asleep with luxury. The Tempus is a Digital DAB radio but with the added advantage of it being an clock radio. The Tempus measures 210 mm width x 175 mm height x 110 mm depth.and has a lovely light wood surround case, this I have been told is to give a much better quality sound (please let me know if I have got that wrong) and a silver coloured front with a silver handle for easy carrying this handle also doubles as a snooze handle...
