...I bought Pure Garage from a specialist music shop before it was TV advertised because it was mixed by DJ EZ, who is - let's face it - a great DJ. I didn't realise that this was going to be a over-commercialized CD, but dispite being available everywhere, it is a good compilation and yes, I admit that the mixing is good. But Thank you so much for not putting REWIND by Artful Dodger on it because that ressembles part of the over playing on stations like capital FM that is starting to kill the real garage sound. EZ's own song on the second CD is especially good and a good example of the garage genre (also you don't hear it 100 times a day on the radio!).... Read review

...Most certainly is just too pure! There is a great mix of well known, mainstream hits and underground, unknown hits that are just as good as the rest. I personaly did not like garage music until recently, and i picked this out of a choice of Moloko's album or the ministry of sound's Ayia Napa compilation, and i have now changed my musical tastes. This has some wicked uplifting tunes, all remixed and remastered to make them special. What also makes this compilation stand out from the others is that it was mixed live by DJ EZ. He has included some of his unique tunes and some that will not appear anywhere else. The CD includes information about DJ EZ himself, and about Garage music, so you really know what your getting and the quality of the tunes. Advantages: great songs, 2 cds
Disadvantages: dodgy EZ songs and playing about with a couple of them.

...Pure Garage (if I'm speaking about the right album here, the one I have is under warner and mixed by EZ, I dunno!) is undoubtably the best garage compilation so far this year. It was the classic student's car CD, up until a few weeks back, you could gaurentee that every Nova and fiesta was vibrating to the sounds of Pure Garage. Nearly all of the songs on the album have since been released as singles, this means that all of the songs are the very best of garage. The only bad parts of the tape are when EZ has messed about with the songs (especially in a little bit of luck, it goes all distorted) and the songs made by EZ, (introduction and one on CD2). So the guy is great at choosing the songs, just a bit pants at making and mixing them!! :o) (though I'm not complaining, I couldsn't do better!). The advertising was never that heavy, only... ...to DJ EZ (who is quite big in the garage scene) "Garage has got a lot more supporters now due to the variety .You've got vocals, bass-line, breaks, 4:4 and grimy beats" Grimy beats is that where the DJ doesn't wash for a week beforehand??? I am presuming that vocals is the stuff I like, bass line is the stuff you hear coming from the Nova boy's car but as for breaks and 4:4, your guess is as good as mine!! If you like DJ EZ it is worth checking his site: www.djez.com I purchased a particularly fine album yesterday called Pure Garage Platninum which incorporates some of the best tunes of the "Pure Garage" series. It has missed out some of my favourites but on the whole, it is pretty good and well worth a look if that is the kind of music that you are into. Advantages: Very catchy and surprisingly meaningful lyrics. Excellent garage/dance remixes hitting the clubs.

...Often, stars who try to launch into trendy comebacks after a long absence end up failing miserably. However, Shola Ama really managed to pull this one off. Moving away from her previous soft R&B reputation, 'Imagine' turned into a club hit with garage and dance remixes appearing on complilations everywhere -- most significantly the unstoppable Pure Garage II. It's a ridiculously catchy song with surprisingly good lyrics and a great sound. It was marketed superbly and pitched to just the right audience, and I think it was just too good to fail. Look out for this song because it will have you singing along in no time at all.... Read review

Advantages: Great range of tracks, lots of up-beat and positive tracks, lots of single releases
Disadvantages: The bonus track is number 99 and it means lots of fast-forwarding if you want to listen to it, will be too same-y for some people

...tracks of pure garage (and the occasional bit of R&B as well from time to time). There are various vocalists on the album as the group consists of a 10-piece vocal and DJ mixture, which is great because it brings even more variation to each track. The singles and different vocalists are well interspersed throughout the tracks which is good because you never tire of listening to the album in that way. Usually in an album, you find that all the single releases are at the beginning and then more slow ones at the end, but because there are 4 tracks (or 5 with the remix of Woman Trouble) that have been released as singles, it's good to hear a familiar tune every so often come out of the speakers. ...With three cds and over three hours of music, Pure Garage Platinum brings together the best sounds of the five preceding Pure Garage albums stretching back to 2000, whilst adding a few ‘new’ songs along the way. There are 50 tracks, presented on three black compact discs with futuristic silver and blue fonts, which match the colours on the box of the set itself. There is no specific feel to each disc but the third disc features the most new material. From the 50 tracks on the album, only of 13 them are new, so only 25% of the total. Having said that, the other 75% span five double-cd boxed sets so it is difficult to say whether it is worth buying. Advantages: Todd Edwards on the mix
Disadvantages: Bit old now but still an essential purchase

...into a ripping ever so catchy bass line. Moving onto the second CD as mixed by Todd Edwards, my favourite, you simply can't go wrong. Track after track is pure bliss and will have you nodding your head from beginning to end. My personal favourite tracks include 1000 years From Today, which I've seen going for several hundered pounds on ebay. Another belter is Walk Away by Hakan Libdo, words simply cannot describe the pleasure of hearing this tune cranked up as is one of Todd's finest ever and most popular productions Shut The Door. ...As a child I had lots of Fisher Price toys - the house, the garage, plane, camper van and the school, to name but a few. They provided hours of amusement for many years. I have just passed all of these old toys onto my daughter who is now 2 and she absolutely loves them. However, instead of her playing with my old antiques all the time, I thought I would go and check the shops to see whether Fisher Price still made these toys. I was amazed to find that they do, although they have been majorly modernised. They are now called 'The World of Little People' and seem to be a lot more durable, the figures are chunkier and there are extra 'sound' features included in most toys now.
