...I would just like to write a review on this book, entitled The Purpose Driven LIfe, by author and pastor (or minister/ vicar/ etc) Rick Warren, who heads up Saddleback Church - one of the largest and fastest growing churches in America, where the current membership stands at around the 20,000 mark. The Purpose Driven Life is a book that is intended to help (Christian) people to find God's plan for their lives, and is intended to be used as a 40 day guide. That means that, as there are 40 chapters in it then you are meant to cover a chapter a day. A lot of churches tend to use this as a study guide over the period of Lent, finishing off with a big celebration on Easter Day. Drive with a Purpose.

Advantages: Helps you in your life.
Disadvantages: Not if you are a non-Christian.

...A bit of background: Rick Warren is the pastor (minister) of a church in California, known as Saddleback. He has also written another book called the Purpose Driven Church, which looks at ways to help you church grow and this book (the one I shall review) is based on a similar structure to the pre-mentioned one. So on to the Purpose Driven Life. The book has been written with the sole ppurpose of trying to help people realise why they are here, and what for - that is, what their purpose in life is, rather than just simply 'drifting through'. It has of course been written by a Christian for Christians, which may be a bit limiting but I see no harm in a non-Christian at least looking through a copy of it. Sense Of Purpose, Daring step.

Advantages: Great Albumart, the solos are pure awesomeness.
Disadvantages: VERY unlike the older IF, and a IF fan is probably not happy.

...In Flames has been around for quite a long time, creating CD after CD since 1994, they have 9 studio records, and a live DVD. The CD 'A Sense Of Purpose' got weird eyes, because they made a BIG change to theire sound, ALOT of clean vocals, some deep lyrics and they STILL rock, they do. Why I don't burn them for changing theire sound? Because In Flames is still true to themselves, and did not do it to get mainstream and listened by 12 year old girls, but because they wanted to change theire sound. ...the grounds were quite expansive and parked with no trouble. There were plenty of CCTV cameras so I felt secure for the security of our car during our vacation. After making our way to reception is was clearly evident this was a busy hotel. There was a small queue waiting to check-in but the reception was amply staffed with 5 visible members. Check-in took about ten minutes. The reception area was large, clean and tidy, but gloomy with the bar facing the entrance and a faint smell of stale beer and cigarettes. We were given our key which is an electronic card and serves the dual purpose of opening the door and operating the power for the lights in the room. Cross Purposes

...Cross Purposes is one of those Black Sabbath albums which is ignored just because Ozzy didn't sing on it, although by this time (1994) the band had experienced several line up changes and this did a lot of damage to Sabbath's reputation. It was the first Sabbath album I heard and it is probably still my favourite even though I own most of their 25 odd releases. Cross Purposes see's the return of bassist Geezer Butler and his input seems tomake the album a lot better than 1989's Headless Cross or 1990's TYR. The album also sees the return of singer Tony Martin following the departure of Ronnie James Dio. The new drummer is Bobby Rondinelli. Cross Purposes features a big variety of songs. It starts with a one of their heaviest numbers yet: I Witness. It has a ballad called Dying For Love which is written about the plight of refugees...

Oust that Scale

...Oust All Purpose Descaler is one of those products that I always have to hand. Our water is between medium and hard, I recently used a test strip to check our water status and when the strip was dipped into a mug of cold water three out of four small squares along the strip turned colour indicating that we are in a medium to hard water area. Both of us have a `thing` about scale being allowed to build up in the kettle, often before we refill the kettle we will rinse it out with copious amounts of cold water to rid the kettle of any sediment. It is alarming how quickly the scale builds up, it seems to gather around the element and it looks really murky. There would be nothing more off-putting than making a good cuppa and finding that you were drinking scale particles. You get three sachets of Oust All Purpose Descaler in one box...
