I wanted to share with you my impressions of my day in the Pyrenees....i know, that's really short, but as we were staying a week near Perpignan, it was only took an hour and a half to get there. The "Cambre d'Aze" is the name of a mountain side which becomes ski-able in winter and consists of two ski stations: Eyne and St. Pierre dels Forcats. It is also beautiful in the summer. (but of course, not ski-able). We went up to St. Pierre dels Forcats a couple of weeks ago. There are 3 shops where you can rent ski's, boots, helmets (for kiddies) or snowboards. The one we rented from is called "La boule de neige". It costs, for a pair of boots and skis...

Advantages: Motor racing is abolutely fantastic, not too expensive, nice shops
Disadvantages: Not really a tourist town, limited places to visit

Hawks Hatchet Job

Advantages: Reasonably amusing
Disadvantages: Predictable, unlikely

...Anyone who has read "Round Ireland with a Fridge" in which Tony Hawks gives an account of how he dragged a small refrigerator around the coast of Ireland to win a bet, will be forgiven for assuming that hawks has now moved further afield to heave a Steinway through the mountains between France and Spain. Slightly Out of Tune

Advantages: Some of his funniest writing
Disadvantages: Not as natural as his earlier books

...I've long been a fan of Tony Hawks' writing. In fact, I was a fan of the man long before that, being of the right age to appreciate his hit single "Stutter Rap" and enough of a "Red Dwarf" fan to enjoy his occasional appearances in that show. Now, as a writer, he appeals because of his laid back, chatty style and his reluctance to take anything seriously, including himself. So when I saw his latest book on sale, it was straight to the till with it, despite the slightly extortionate cover price, thanks to it being one of those larger paperback editions that some books start in instead of hardback. I must admit that my interest had been captured by the title "A Piano in the Pyrenees". I had visions of this being a mountain version of one of his earlier works, "Round Ireland With a Fridge" and I could already picture him pushing a piano...

Discovery TD5 ES 7

Advantages: Goes and carries everything, everywhere.
Disadvantages: Not quickly....

...I've owned the Discovery for 2 years now. Yes it's had problems, a lot of these were down to previous owner and where he took it for repairs though. I rebuilt the head after gasket failure, only to find someone had already been in there and 'bodged' it. Radweld should be banned..... After getting it running like it should do, I can say that I will keep this car as long as it still runs. It does everything. It goes everywhere. It carries and pulls anything. We go skiing in the Pyrenees every year, the Disco does the job perfectly. Carries all the kit, no problems. Camping in the summer, not a problem. The Discovery will take you anywhere.... just not quickly. Off road, you will not find better (and yes mine does go off road, regularly). Fuel consumption is between 28-30 mpg. Mind you, I don't do stop start journeys, and it's very...
