Christmas:-my top five most wanted presents

Advantages: Its a great time of year

Acer Aspire 5602WLMi Laptop I have been told by my friends who have this laptop that it is worth buying and has good speed and a high MB RAM. I have found it cheapest at www.dabs.com and as far as their reviews go, they look like a good web site to buy it from. Not that I buy my own presents of course unless I get gift vouchers. But I would not even get close to £50 let alone £500 in vouchers. 2. A Fun Day Out At The Seaside!

For hands that don't do dishes

...I have the smallest kitchen in the world (probably) so having a dishwasher seems like a crazy idea. However, my partner and I recently decided to change our kitchen totally (see my op on Kitchens from IKEA) and included in that was not to have a sink and drainer - far too big, but to have a small round sink, no drainer, but a lovely slimline dishwasher. I have some friends who work for Bosch and they recommended the SRS5602 to me. Although one of the most expensive in the range, it has some amazing features which make up for the cost. It is extremely economical to run, uses very little water and has a 'hydro sensor' which detects how dirty the water is after the first rinse. If the water is too dirty, it discards it, if not re-uses it for the main wash. It has a timer delay so you can put the machine on over night when...

A Snappy, Happy holiday...Camber Sands

Advantages: Activities laid on for the kids nearly all day.
Disadvantages: Way too commercial now, friendly family atmospheres all gone

A pee and some tea at the top of the world

...Wikipedia, the Indians claim the altitude to be 5602m. The Guinness Book of World Records lists 5682m which the Wiki-people suggest is a typo. They note that a group of Catalan scientists with GPS equipment measured the height at a paltry 5359m. Why does it matter? Well if the height claimed by the Indians is correct, then this is the highest navigable road. If it's not and the Catalans and their equipment are correct then there are two Tibetan passes that beat it by a few metres. But then again, why should we necessarily assume those heights are right either? My attitude is that until the Chinese leave the Tibetans alone, I won't be going to there so I'm calling La Khadung 'the Highest Navigable Road in a Country not Currently Occupied by an Unfriendly and Unwelcome Invader'. It's not such a snappy phrase but it's good enough for me...
