Canon S200

...I came across the Canon S200 a little over two years ago in the PC World sale when, as a student, I was looking for a cheap but reliable bit of kit to keep those coursework essays churning out (I'd rather have had an extra half hour in bed than race to college to 'bag' a printer in the IT lab...hm, not much has changed I fear). Not only did I quite fancy the price-tag (just under 30 quid), I was attracted to the S200's size - it's small enough to perch on the corner of my desk without taking up too much precious space otherwise needed for books, papers, cups of tea, elbows etc... Review of Canon S 200

Logitect does it again with the S200!

Advantages: Cheap, Good looking for the price, Compact, Great sound
Disadvantages: None!

...Who hasn't heard of Logitech? They have essentially become a household brand, with their ground-breaking products that offer functionality at a low cost to the consumer. Recent reviews that have praised Logitech's balance of cost and performance have covered their Webcams, Speakers, Mice and Keyboards, and a lot of other peripherals to boot. Review of Logitech S-200

S200 - Basic Budget Printer that gets the job done

Advantages: Very cheap to buy and run, compact.
Disadvantages: Print quality not brilliant, a little flimsy.

...I purchased a Canon S200x printer as a stop-gap measure when my absolutely dreadful Epson 680 gave up for good (a definite blessing in disguise!). I have since upgraded to the brilliant Canon i560 (which I have also reviewed) but used the S200 for a few months whilst I saved up for a better one. The printer cost me less than £40 from the superb ebuyer.com - this is especially excellent when you consider that cartridges (unofficial) for the printer can be purchased for about £3 each! Sometimes budget printers like these sting you later on the cartridges but with this unit, the cost is low and stays low! Unpacking the printer, you'll notice it is fairly compact and light, and also feels rather tacky and plasticky. The printer is mostly standard beige, with the front cover in a green/grey effect. Review of Canon S 200x

Nikon Coolpix S200

Advantages: Functions well in daylight; looks good and is fairly compact
Disadvantages: Picture quality is middle-of-the-road; is awful in low light

...The Nikon Coolpix is a good-looking camera; that is not to be doubted. I was initially very pleased with it, but have since been a little underwhelmed. Although I think Nikon are a very good company who on the whole turn out some excellent products, I am unconvinced that the S200 is one of their best pieces of work. My main gripes are twofold. Firstly, I do not think that the picture quality is anything better than average, and there are certainly better options out on the market elsewhere - I believe Olympus cameras to be very strong in this regard. The Energizer Battery Charger

Review of Energizer CHDCWB-4 Battery Charger

Good battery charger for it's price

Advantages: Charges quickly, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Doesn't feel too strong... Not much of a problem.

...I bought this so that I wouldnt' have to keep paying for batteries all the time for my camera. Most battery chargers cost a lot more than this one did (I bought this one for about £12, from Amazon), so it was good to get a deal on it. The package includes the charger itself, 4 AA batteries and a car adapter, so you can charge your batteries in the car. The batteries are easy to insert, there are two spring-loaded extensions that spring out. These are so you can charge AAA batteries as well, and they fold away when you're charging AA batteries. I find that charging batteries doesn't take very much time at all, I just leave them in for a short while and after a short while the red light turns green to show that the charge is complete. A 'smart' charger worth buying

Advantages: Low cost, Car charger inc, fast charge times, battery charge detection
Disadvantages: Cautious on overcharging leaving batteries not 100% full

...I picked up this charger a few days ago for £8 with 4 1000mah AAA batteries which seemed like a great price to me for a 'Smart' charger. In the package I got the charger (quite slim) a standard plug adaptor and a car charger making it ideal to take around with you ensuring you never miss out on a photo perfect moment. The charger has space for 2 or 4 AA or AAA batteries and has quite a rapid charge time. Here are the charge times quoted by Uniross: Charging Times: AA 1300mAh : 120 mins, AA 2500mAh : 255mins, AAA 900mAh : 180 mins It is not the fastest charger around but clearly not the slowest. The main reason why I choose this charger was as it had a charge detection system allowing it to detect how much charge a battery needs until its full. Review of Logitech S-200

Qtek 9000 / o2 XDA / SPV M5000

Advantages: inbuilt Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Disadvantages: very slow, low battery life when wifi and bluetooth are turned on

...A mate of mine bought this phone but recently gave it to me because he could use it on orange. At first i thought this gadget was brilliant because of the great features like bluetooth and built in Wi-Fi, which are both very useful when out and about and you want to connect to someones wireless network to check your email or whatever. The main disadvantage of this phone / PDA is the speed at which it operates. It has a 500MHZ processor, but even this cannot handle the windows mobile operating system! I think it could do with some more RAM memory because 64MB isn't enough to run more than 1 program at a time without crashing! The RAM memory in these things is NOT possible to upgrade, so you're stuck with a slow phone. I have been trying to install pocket pc 2003 onto the phone because i have a hp pocket pc with a 200mhz...

Review of Qtek 9000

Qtek 2020i

Advantages: Large high resolution screen, sd card memory upgradable, loads of features
Disadvantages: Have had trouble with crashing of the PDA

...I got this PDA primarily becuase I wanted a mobile phone which I could also use as a GPS Sat Nav. It has a large screen which displays colours excellently and although it only has a 1.3 mp camera, when displayed on this screen the picture quality is super clear and you'd be deceived into thinking it was a much higher resolution. The PDA has bluetooth so all I had to do was to purchase a bluetooth GPS receiver and install the SAt Nav softwate (have to buy separately - I use Tomtom as it's awesome). When working the Sat Nav is excellent and the large screen makes it easy to view. There are two problems with this phone and the first reared its head not long after buying it. That is it tended to crash a lot so that the screen froze and I had to send it back to the manufacturer. Since then it still crashes occasionally, maybe twice...
