...Quake 3 is slick, there is nothing that can deny that, when you strafe left your character immediately does so and the change in direction is beautifully smooth. But this is about as far as Quake 3 goes; there are a number of annoying problems. The first is the scoreboard on ANY large game, it is a nice touch to show the models faces next to the name of the player, except when 5 or more people join the server and they start to drop off the bottom! This awful in CTF as an ENTIRE team can vanish from view. The levels for Q3 range from mediocre to excellent, there aren't any boring maps, and the excellent maps have great flow and can be at times can be visually stunning. Single Player - Now on to my major gripe with Quake 3, the bots, sure it is not my place to argue with something I cannot hope to replicate but, and let me be frank...

Advantages: Frantic paced gameplay, good multiplayer

Bang, Fragged ! Railgun again :( Quake 3

Advantages: Great gameplay, action, guns, maps, online, can be bought for £2.00 these days
Disadvantages: players online who manage to cheat, when you constantly die

...Quake 3 arena, wow what a buzz. Although its now seriously outdated its still capable of giving a great buzz when i play it. If there is one word to use in order to describe this game its FAST. Quake 3 arena is all about the online play. Yes theres a single player arena deatmatch mode but thats no fun comapred to the fast paced online deatmatch ! This game is pure action non stop and shows off how fun first person shooters can be (although i prefer the likes of Half Life, this still kicks ass ;) ) The online play is great and ids composed of usually four different game modes. These are: Capture the flag, deatmatch, team deathmatch and tournament. I personally find the deatmatch the best (all vs all, save yourself) the best as it truly is all up to you then. ...I have been umming and arring over which colsole to buy, the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. I had heard a lot of positive things about the Xbox, and I had also heard that graphics wise and gaming wise the Xbox was slightly better than the Playstation 3. PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...
