Not a high Quality Hotel

Advantages: Great location, great breakfast
Disadvantages: Needs a refurb in bedroom areas - urgently!

...Hello and welcome, to my review about the Quality Hotel in Brighton. About a month ago, my good friend Rory called me to put forward some ideas as to what we could do for his Birthday, after about 20 minutes in deep discussion and rampant surfing we decided that it would be a laugh to go to Brighton for the entire weekend to celebrate his birthday. Therefore first things first we needed somewhere to stay. A quick search on Google showed us a number of hotels in Brighton that were within our budget, one of them being the Quality Hotel, so the prices they gave us were within our budget so we went ahead with the booking. ---Location--- The location of the Hotel is superb; it is at the lower end of West Street. Quality choice

Advantages: friendly staff, good food, comfy beds
Disadvantages: too far from Chester for nightlife

...NAME OF LOCATION: Quality Hotel, at Chester. There are 75 ensuite bedrooms but you will need transport to Chester as it actually at Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port and was at least 11 miles from Chester itself. BACKGROUND: We chose to go on a weekend trip to Chester, my boyfriend Robert and I with Gee Vee Travel (see separate review) and it used this hotel as a base. TRANSPORT We visited Chester by coach and used this hotel as a base only. Some people on our trip had been informed that it was possible to walk into Chester from the hotel but this is not possible as its 11 miles away and you would have to cross the M56 and the A41, which are extremely busy roads. Chester has a railway station but as this is some distance from the hotel you will need a taxi or hire car from here. The hotel informed us that it costs £18 minimum...

Taking the P out of "Quality"

Advantages: Somewhere to park, food quite good
Disadvantages: Filthy cramped rooms, uncomfortable beds, noisy

...the noise from the kitchen's extractor fans to keep me awake. Having given up trying to sleep I put the TV on to drown the noise, Channel 4 at 2 am is not great viewing but does have the advantage of drowning out the hum. Eventually I managed to doze for a couple of hours but woke at about 5.30, as some guests returned from the local club and passed my door. Breakfast was OK, buffet style with planty of choice, I have never had bacon that didn't taste of anything so this was a great new experience for me. on checking out I paid £65.75. This was for dinner, bed and breakfast plus a few pints of beer. Not expensive for a hotel but overpriced for the "Quality" of service received. Can I advise anyone driving into Birmingham along the Hagley road looking for a hotel to keep going and not turn into the "Quality"? THe Thistle is...

not a QUALITY bed....

Advantages: Close by to Gatwick
Disadvantages: Having a dodgy bed

...As you'll know from my hotel review I have just been on holiday (althought it seems like a lifetime ago now!) As we had a 11.45am flight it was to be an early start...2 hours for check in, transfer from carpark and actually getting to gatwick itself (over a 2 hour drive for us) so it would have been very early we decided to stay over the night before. After initially not wanting to do this come the day before our holiday I was quite excited and looking forward to it. The quality gatwick is located on Langley drive, Crawley, which is just a short trip of four miles to Gatwick Airport. Is the 'Quality' hotel really 'Quality'??

Advantages: Good sized rooms, beautiful food, comfy beds!
Disadvantages: Expensive alcohol, poor air conditioning

...And the survey says....yes! After spending hours on the internet looking for a room for a night, I decided on the Quality Hotel in Wolverhampton. The quality hotel offers a variety of rooms, from a basic room with 1 single bed, to a family room if you have children. Prices start from around £50.00. It is situated within easy reach of Wolverhampton centre.The room I stayed in was a standard double room which cost £59.50, this was for room & breakfast for 2. Obviously you do pay extra for having breakfast, but if you pay for room only then decide to have breakfast, it costs £10.95 per person. On arrival the staff were very friendly and fast at dealing with checking in, however we discovered there are no lifts at this hotel, only stairs so this isn't suitable for anyone who is disabled, as there are no rooms on the ground floor. Great little find in Paris- Hotel France Albion

Advantages: Fantastic location and large sized room!
Disadvantages: Breakfast disappointing

...this really did look quite unappetising, i am used to having fresh fruit for breakfast! a basket of bread was brought to each table and there were jams. the food quality was fine there just did not seem to beenough provided at one time considering the hotel was quite busy. I would definitely stay at this hotel again as the location can't be beat- metro stop 2 mins away and 15mins walk to galeries lafayette and opera district. the room cost us 119 euros per night with breakfast included. this was for a twin room, i think doubles are slightly cheaper. the hotel has an excellent website www.hotelfrancealbion.com which has an English section....

DOESN'T THE NAME QUALITY SUGGEST A VFM PRODUCT?

Advantages: GOOD LOCATION, WHOLE RANGE OF LEISURE FACILITIES
Disadvantages: URGH, DIRTY ROOMS, POOR FOOD, SOMETIMES HAS HIGH RATES, TERRIBLE SERVICE

...of the West End were totally chocker. So, having booked my flights months before (£54 return with EasyJet), I set about finding a hotel in Glasgow ? easy peasy, isn?t it? Um a resounding no to that one, the main Hilton had rooms, £185 per night, way outside my subsistence levels and having already visited Sheffield, Manchester and Preston that week, with Ibiza the following, finances weren?t really on my side. A continued surf on the web found a room in the Quality Central Hotel, (3 ***) Glasgow for the paltry (cough) sum of £105 B&B. Having stayed at the Clarion Hotel Clitheroe (the big brother in the Choice Hotel chain) and received a cracking deal there through laterooms.com with good quality rooms and food, I thought it would be worth a try, but hang on, that was £45 per night through laterooms.com, so maybe I could get it cheaper...

Review of Quality Central Hotel

Elysees Opera/America Opera Hotel - Paris, France.

Advantages: Location, Room Size
Disadvantages: Facilities offered were minimal.

...and Disneyland Paris. It is also in walking distance of Montmartre and Le Galleries Lafayette. I felt that our hotel was in a prime location making it easy for us to get around the city. Paris itself is a very noisy city; being the capital of France this should be expected. There is always a lot of noise around including during the evenings and at night time. The fact that our hotel was situated in such an area did not make it any better; this was clearly visible with our balcony doors open. However, the hotel offers soundproofed rooms, as standard to combat this noise, of which I will go into more detail later. Overall for the location I would give it a 9/10, we never struggled to find anything that we were looking for, apart from the hotel itself in the first instance. a tale of two hotels

Advantages: location, price, facilities
Disadvantages: bit bland but at the price, who cares?

...mushrooms. My only quibbles are that the coffee is instant (but it is a very good quality instant) and that there are only two two slice toasters..there was a deep queue for these! Access to rooms...There are lifts to every floor as well as staricases for those of us who hate lifts. The hotel blurb says that there are disabled facilities, and next to the steps, there is indeed a little lift down from reception to the lift area. The lift also speaks to you and tells you which floor you are at. The doors do not close too quickly, either. Useful if you are a little slower than more able bodied (or young) people. There are a few seats in the reception area for people who are waiting for something or someone. There are also a couple of newspapers in reception for people to read, but none for taking to your room. If your clothes are...

WHY ARE SOME HOTELS SO INAPPROPRIATELY NAMED?

Advantages: Convenient for London, on-site parking, wireless internet, good lager
Disadvantages: very small rooms for very high prices

...When visiting London, quite often, I take the car, park it in Harrow and get the tube in. So the first time I had to stay, the concept of doing the same, and staying at a hotel with on-site parking was pretty much the same. The venue on this occasion was the Quality Hotel, Harrow where I vaguely remembered staying when the Swans won at Wembley (but that's another story). Although it had been renovated since my last stay, I am afraid that, from my limited experience, never was a chain of hotels more inappropriately named. Part of the Choice Hotels Europe group, the quality brand sits between Comfort at the bottom of the chain, and Clarion at the top, so what is on offer at a Comfort doesn't bear thinking about. I seem to remember vaguely that this particular outlet was once a Comfort but presumably changed its name when...
