Queens hotel Bournemouth
Advantages: Great facilities and location
Disadvantages: Some rooms on the small side
...Getting there
Our family stayed at the Queen?s Hotel Bournemouth for 2 nights back in May 2007. The drive down from North London is 112 miles and took around 3 Hours 20 Minutes which included a 30 minute stop over. The Hotel is located on Meyrick Road, just a minutes walk from the sea front and a 15 minute walk to the Pier.
There is room for about 15 cars in the car park at the front of the Hotel, with room for a further 20 cars at the rear. This is free to use for guests and you give your car registration details when you check in. The hotel has 109 rooms and deluxe suites situated over 4 floors. There is a lift near the reception to all floors except lower ground which has just 6-8 steps, so the Hotel is ideal for the elderly.
Rooms
Choices of rooms range from four-poster bridal suite rooms to deluxe, family and executive...

LONDON'S CALLING
Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room
...eateries/drinking places and chose 372, which offers carvery selection. I was surprise how hot and fresh the food was. Not only that it was tasty too! We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. That said I ALWAYS OVER cook my veggies. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Our meal for two with drinks cost £29)
Hotel: the hotel it situated in the Strand which is in central London and easy to walk to theatres such as the Aldwych, Lyceum, and many more. Come out the front of the hotel and turn right, and you?ll be heading towards Trafalgar square with Nelson, bear left and you...

Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel!
Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast
Disadvantages: Expensive
...and special upgraded amenities.
Spacious suites with king or queen-sized beds and additional upgraded amenities.
Apartments are available in one and two bedrooms. All apartments also provide kitchens and separate living areas.
The London lodging is especially ideal for businessmen since they have wireless internet. All in all it is an excellent hotel that will cost from £150 - £200 depending on the day you stay and what deals are available at the time. I fully enjoyed my stay and went home feeling relaxed. The hotel was clean and tidy. Cleaners kept on top of the tidying throughout the day and there were no areas of concern for the hotel's cleanliness. There were no members of staff that I had any problems with they were all very friendly and professional. Even though there was an air of business professionals throughout the day there was...

Superb London Budget Hotel
Advantages: Beautiful setting in a buzzing part of London
Disadvantages: Not suitable for disabled people - no lift
...The Ashley Hotel is a superb, well-priced B&B hotel in a gorgeous location in central London. It is situated in Norfolk Square, Paddington, and is just 2 minutes walk from Paddington station.
Paddington itself is a buzzing district of London adjacent to the West End, and is packed full of shops, restaurants, bars etc. Norfolk Square is an oasis of tranquility amongst this. It is a square (obviously) of tall, elegant Victorian mansions, all of which have been turned into budget hotels.
The hotels are painted white and cream, and have tall windows and beautiful old railings outside. In the centre of them all is a railed garden. Obviously, it was once a place of residence for people of means in the Upstairs-Downstairs tradition. The Ashley Hotel comprises 3 mansions made into one, and has 50 (I think) rooms.
The reception is...

Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding
Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End
...We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of London, and to Tower Bridge and easily accessible by bus and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav!
On arriving we were greeted by friendly and efficeint staff. The entrance to the hotel was modern and swish, befitting a four star hotel with marble and stainless tell everywhere...

The Strand Palace Hotel
Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms
...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too.
Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly.
My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern.
I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower.
The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close.
The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

The Queen's hotel, York
Advantages: Beautiful location
Disadvantages: Parking facilities, but thats it!
...Situated alongside the picturesque River Ouse, the Queens Hotel, York is in a key position within central York. All local amenities are yards away, and the city centre is only across a footbridge!
York railway station is located approximately 0.5 miles away, so this is perfect for a break without the hassle of driving. Leeds and Bradford airport is only 24 miles away, and can be reached then by taxi, public transport or even hire car. However, if you do want to drive, the motorway junction (A1) is around 11 miles away.
All rooms are equipped with en suite, tv and tea and coffee making facilities, but im sure you will only use these at night, as there are so many other places to eat and drink. The Riverside Bar is ideal for a few quiet drinks before dinner, where you can find a large selection of dishes at the Royal Brasserie. If...

Queens Hotel, Queens Staith, York, UK
Advantages: City cenre, riiverside location. Close to ameneties and attractions
Disadvantages: Potentially noisy nightlife just across the river
...My wife and I stayed at the Queens Hotel on a Saturday night, in mid-May.
The hotel is quite modern, having been converted from an old warehouse in recent years, and is only 4 storeys high. It is right in the heart of the city centre, within the city walls, and is on the riverside overlooking the River Ouse. It stands directly opposite the Kings Arms pub, which is famous for getting flooded after prolonged periods of heavy rain. The Queens Hotel stands on Queens Staith, however because it has been fairly recently converted is designed not to be adversely affected by high water. As it is in the city centre there are loads of pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as 2 theatres, 2 cinemas, various museums, including the Jorvik Centre as well as the Minster etc. all within a few minutes stroll.
I know my way around York quite...

Good value for money
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: You get what you pay for......
...I recently stayed at the Queens Hotel at the end of November, and to be honest it was absolutely fine. I had booked it at the last minute, just a few hours before check in, and everything went smoothly. Check was easy and without complication.
As for the room, it had everything I needed considering I was only staying for a couple of nights by myself, and most of the time I was out anyway. It was clean, which is important, and there was a working TV. However, the one problem was with the bathroom, as when I turned the shower on, the shower head fell straight off, completely soaking the bathroom and spraying water everywhere. However, this was easily fixed by myself.
Breakfast was fine, just usual kind of toast, cereals....basically what you would expect, and there is always Sainsburys just around the corner. Staff were generally...

Stranded in London!
Advantages: Excellent central location; good bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms a bit old fashioned; a little pricey
..." - the inner courtyard of the hotel with the humming air conditioners at the bottom. I can live (or sleep) with that, but there was also an awful rattling, like pipes, coming from somewhere in the ceiling. We went back downstairs to complain, and were told there were no other rooms. After standing our ground they eventually checked us in to an alternative room on the 4th floor. A little bigger, but still not brilliant - probably "average", from past business stays down in London hotels. The reception staff weren't particularly friendly, as other reviews have mentioned.
Despite being "club" rooms, all that appeared to be different was the decor. Instead of old-fashioned wall-to-wall flowerey decor and furnishings, it was plain duck-egg walls, and a "modern" bed (faux-leather headboard and plain brown and green blankets). Not worth the extra money...
