Disappointment of Eternity
Review of Kings Quest Collection (PC) by Dinushi

Advantages: Good graphics, sounds, storyline, puzzles
Disadvantages: Humourless

...Think back on King's Quest VII. Remember VI? What about V? What was the best thing about them? The graphics were stunning in comparison to the rather primitive King's Quests I to IV, but on their own, they were mediocre. The brainteasers were sometimes baffling, but many PC games have this to offer. Then what was it that kept consumers so riveted, playing them for hours on end and then waiting anxiously for new releases? Why were we so concerned about whether Valenice found her daughter in Ooga-Booga (VII), or whether Alexander married the Princess (VI)? Why did it matter? Because of that unique charm that belonged to Sierra's King Quest and only to Sierra's King's Quest. The animation would always be delightful, the characters humourous and the mood mirthful. This, along with a pinch of fairlytale romance, made the King's Quest... Read review

Enjoyable entertainment
Review of Galaxy Quest (Wide Screen) by emmi

Advantages: A feelgood movie
Disadvantages: Not as funny as you might expect

...Galaxy Quest is many things in one movie: it's a (very mild) satire about the cult phenomenon around TV show Star Trek, a (mild, again) parody of the show's banalities and cliches, and also a relatively enjoyable sci-fi comedy in itself. Personally I don't know Star Trek too well and never was a huge fan, but remember watching the old episodes weekly when I was about 10. This helped with understanding some of Galaxy Quest's jokes, but was by no means necessary. I enjoyed the movie because it is light entertainment that harms no one. It is not a mean or ironic film but as much a tribute to sci-fi genre as a parody of it. Don't expect a larger-than-life experience, but let yourself be entertained and Galaxy Quest will make your day.... Read review

A well rounded expansion
Review of EverQuest: The Scars of Velious (PC) by cdurkin

Advantages: Excellent and more challenging expansion to a great original game
Disadvantages: Has now been superceded by cheaper packaged upgrades

...This product will only be of benefit to those who have already purchased the original Everquest game. At time of writing, this particular expansion has been included in several upgrade packages including "Planes of Power" and "New Dawn" and as such there is no real benefit in buying this particular package. However, it is worth extoling the virtues of the Scars of Velious upgrade in its own right. Unlike the "Ruins of Kunark" upgrade which introduced a new race and provided some "easy" hunting zones e.g. Lake of Ill Omen, the Scars of Velious introduces no new races and all of the adversaries in the expansion are significantly more diffcult than their equivalents in the original game. Where this particular expansion wins out however, is in the addition of some excellent equipment drops from creatures but more so in the fantastic quests... Read review

Star Trek fans will love this
Review of Space Quest 6 (PC) by billdaily

Advantages: Great Graphics, Engaging storyline
Disadvantages: Some bits quite hard

...This space adventure parody will be enjoyed by many Star Trek and non Str Trek fans around the globe. If you remember back to the days of Police Quest, Lesure Suit Larry and Kings Quest will find this right up their street. It features an extensive story line with tongue in cheek humor and alot of in-jokes. From space binbags to you're crew who can't abide you, there is alot to play for. Some very funny parts like when you have to take a test to flying you're space garbage truck, if you like 2d adventure games with a twist then this is for you!... Read review

What a cool game
Review of Baldurs Gate (PC) by vkain

Advantages: Great play and last for ages
Disadvantages: Bit limited in some of the charater options

...Boughht a new Pc and got this game with for free, started playing it and bang straight away I was hooked. Basically you choose a character for you to be Fighter, Thief, Wizard that type thing and you go on a quest but your not sure what the quest is, as the game goes on the plot thickensa s you battle monsters, bandits and of course meet friends and save people on the way. The gameplay is great, the sounds and voices are ok. More importantly the graphics are really good and gives you a feel for all of the characters. Quests are not hard to solve but there are alot of them so this will take ages to complete and I mean days. Even when you do finish it you'll end up playing again trying to get someone else or some other item. Great game, well worth it and you can even link up to, plus there is an expansion for this version now as well.... Read review

Galaxy Quest More like hysterical Quest
Review of Galaxy Quest (Wide Screen) by the_ice_box

Advantages: Very funny, good for the whole familt and is extremely good for money
Disadvantages: Takes a while to get going

...When you look at the cover. You think to yourself "Oh no I am not going to spend an hour and a half watching this rubbish." If you think this, then you are completely wrong you wouldn't know how wrong you are This movie starring Tim Allen ('Home Improvements'), Sigorney Weaver and Allan Rickman, is about 5 actors who in the 80’s were all the rage as the crew of a TV series called Galaxy Quest. The only way in which they make money is buy going to tributes and shop openings. One day their lives are changed dramatically when they meet the evil alien Zurg and from then on the movie is a rollercoaster of action and comedy. The affects are well done, good computer animation allow this movie to come alive and give it a superb edge, it is a real difference from the kind of movies that have been set in space (‘Star Trek’... EverQuest - The best RPG ever?
Review of Verant Interactive - EverQuest by ApocalypseAPWW

Advantages: Amazing amount of places to fight in, addons being released all the time, meet new people online.
Disadvantages: $10 per month online fee for playing (£6 UK Sterling), lousy customer support from the game guides, the occasional obnoxious person, only playable online.

...I first stumbled across EverQuest about 7 months ago on http://www.gamespot.com/ and the review instantly pursuaded me to buy the game....so I did :) What can I say? EverQuest is a fantastic game! There are three entire continents to explore, hundreds of different species of enemies to kill ranging from the lowly Goblins up to huge mighty Griffins and the almighty Gods! This is a great game, there are literally thousands of items to collect through out the game ranging from types of weapons, armour and magic spells that can blast your enemies to death in seconds or heal you and give you magical armour, etc. The overall greatness of the game is that it is only playable online, however this can also be a downside unless you happen to be on a free time online ISP like www.WorldOnline.co.uk or www.IC24.net I urge any self respecting RPG... Takes the mickey out of Startrek but is respectful
Review of Galaxy Quest (Wide Screen) by Dave350

Advantages: Good cast, great special effects
Disadvantages: plot holes and very obvious twist

...'Galaxy Quest' is a superb movie that takes a sly dig at the Startrek franchise, but reamains respectful none the less. The story concerns 5 B-movie actors who are forced to command a real spaceship and fight real aliens, all the time trying to hide the fact they don't know what they're doing. The actors seem to be enjoying themselves and its good to see Sigourney Weaver in a comedy role for a change. My only gripe is some huge plotholes and an ending which is telegraphed two thirds through the film. Still highly recommended.... Read review

This is the game you have always wanted!!
Review of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Xbox) by mak_the_judge

Advantages: For the 1st time FREEDOM!!!!!
Disadvantages: Loss of real world life

...Fans Of RPGS will know this familiar pattern. Thumb through new games in shop, find product full of hope and lovely ideas of guilds , quests, magic and monsters. Start to play and the horrible truth dawns... you are gently steered to an ultimately unrewarding conclusion. Not any more. This is by far the best RPG of all time. Starting as an unknown character the world is literally at your feet. Choose you own destiny.Yes there is a story to the maingame but you do not have to follow it. The gameworld is massive and allthough there is quick travel by boat and Stiltriders to the towns , it is often best to walk and take in the challenges along the way. Various guilds and factions offer quests from simple take message or find person quests , to murder of rival guild members and treasure finding in huge dungeons and fortresses. As ever... Runescape
Review of RuneScape by josh1111

Advantages: Very fun
Disadvantages: Bad graphics

...This is a very fun and addictive game I find. Whenever I play this adventure game I want to keep on playing. You can choose at the start of the game when you first make an account what you want your person to look like. You run around the land slaying all sorts such as bats and cows and if you want harder things you can venture into the wilderness and fight other players of the game but if you are scared it's not a place for you! The skills you can train are strength, defence, attack, magic, smithing, crafting, hitpoints, ranged, prayer, woodcutting, cooking, fletching, fishing, firemaking, mining, herblore, agility, thieving, slayer, farming and runecraft. The aim of the game is to complete every quest and get the highest level you can as possible. You can become a member which costs £2.50 a month so you can access a much more... Read review
