Retail Therapy from Your Television Set!
Advantages: The best TV home shopping channel around
Disadvantages: Some items are needlessly overhyped
...ORIGINALLY WRITTEN June 2001
When QVC, the Shopping Channel, started broadcasting in October 1992 I did not think that home television shopping would catch on.
There was a lot of negative press at the time of its launch. Even Judy Finnegan on 'This Morning' made some critical comments.
Nowadays a day does not go past in our household without the TV being tuned to QVC. It is quite addictive. Even if you do not want to buy anything your knowledge will be improved.
Basically QVC is a home shopping channel available via Digital Satellite or Cable TV. It transmits live for 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. The remaining time is taken up with the day's highlights.
The programming is broken down into specialist hours. A resident QVC presenter accompanied sometimes by a salesperson of a specific product presents each hour. A QVC...

TV - Internet shopping - QVC
Advantages: Online, convenient shopping
Disadvantages: Is it too convenient ?
...THE FACTS
Further to my exploration of my digital freeview box another shopping channel, QVC. Below some details more of the same can be found on the Wikipedia website. QVC is a United States based Multinational Corporation, specialising in televised shopping channels. Founded in 1986 by Joseph Segel, QVC broadcasts in four major countries to 141 million consumers. The name is an initialisation standing for "Quality, Value, Convenience". The first broadcast took place in that year.

The channel is broadcast in Japan, UK, USA, Germany via Cable, Satellite, Digital and terrestrial. Q.V.C the channel for me
Advantages: No queues or crowds, products demonstrated, entertaining to watch, prompt delivery
Disadvantages: high p&p charges, some shows long winded and boring
...I don't know why, but I've always been a fan of mail order shopping..the choosing, the waiting, the parcel arriving on your doorstep..I guess it brings out the kid in me!
Q.V.C is my favourite shopping channel because although there are many others, it is one of only three that are available on cable television as opposed to sky satellite..The other two IDEAL WORLD and BID-UP are nowhere near as good.
Q.V.C is the longest running of the shopping channels having been on the air for more than ten years.
Q.V.C offer a wide range of merchandise that is shown in shows of its type...for example jewellery, and each show usually lasts for one hour. They often do two and three hour showcases but I will go into that at a later stage.
The regular shows are as follows;
jewellery
beauty and skincare
household appliances
cooking...

UPDATED QVC You Might Be Surprised
Advantages: Hassle free shopping
Disadvantages: None really
...QVC was founded in 1986 by Joseph Segal and began broadcasting in the USA in November of that year followed by the UK in 1993. Germany in1996 and Japan in 2001.
I first came across QVC when I bought a freeview box and started flicking through the channels. At first I didn't see anything very interesting but carried on flicking over the next few weeks and one day found a show that did appeal to me and started watching and from then on I was a convert!. My husband used to say "you're not watching that again are you"but now even he has been known to watch the odd show as well as bought things. More accurately he has asked me to order them and he would pay for them. At Christmas/ birthday times he'll ask if i've seen anything on QVC I want and if I have then that saves him the bother of trying to guess what to get me .
You have 30...

QVC Quite a Valuable Channel
Advantages: Armchair shopping
Disadvantages: Cushion covers wearing out.
...There's nothing the Sunday broadsheets like better, than to mock the afflicted: those "sad" individuals who spend all their time in front of the growing multiplicity of shopping channels on digital television.
So what channels are these, then? Well, QVC is the most famous, having been established for seven years in the UK, and in the States before that.
QVC has established itself as the leading TV shopping channel, partly because of its arrival first on the scene, but also through superb customer service, attracting celebrities onto its shows, prompt delivery, honest pricing, its "Today's Special Value" and its selection of presenters. (On this last point, QVC has suffered badly since losing Paul Lavers and Debbie Flint to Ideal World TV).
I would agree with comments made elsewhere that sometimes the presenters are obviously...

A perfect set of twins!
Advantages: Two shades in one compact, good quality shadow.
Disadvantages: The price
...? ~
When you first get the eyeshadow there is a 'V' symbol imprinted which does disappear once the shadow is used.
It can be applied with your finger which is my preferred method of application but perhaps the most accurate method is with an eyebrush so that you can get right in to the corners of your eye.
The shadow is crease resistant, whereas other shadows I have used do sometimes show up fine lines you may have and fall in to the crevices thus making them even more noticeable which isn't a great look!!
What I like about it most is that it doesn't crumble. So many shadows I have used in the past leave a dust layer on my lashes which is a nuisance, not so with Virgin Vie twin eyeshadow.
Finally, which is an important factor for anyone who doesn't want to reapply............they stay on for hours. I can spend a whole evening in to...

QVC shopping experience
Advantages: Convenient and quick way to Shop
Disadvantages: Postage and Packaging quite Expensive
...I have watched QVC for nearly one year now, and yes I have been tempted a few times and ordered a few of the products!
I have found the delivery particularly quick and effecient, also when you have to return something it is as easy as they say on TV.
On the whole it had been a trouble -free way of shopping for me, and as my health has been considerable under par, shopping centres and travelling to them have been off my agenda.
I have been very pleased with some household cleaners I ordered, carpet shampoo, stain removers, etc., and also some jewellery I ordered for presents at Christmas time. If you go to their website QVC.com.uk you can see the full array of products available including the bargains of the day and future programme dates and times. Most of the products I have purchased, I have been satisfied with, but be...

Twin Peaks
Advantages: The most original, mind-blowing TV series of all time
Disadvantages: None
...set of circumstances than he would wish. He soon evolves into a far more human character, and episode after episode you cannot help but warm further to him.
Aside from the twisting, turning plot, which excites and confounds in equal amounts, it really is the characters, their strength, depth and variety, that truly make this compelling viewing. It is impossible not to feel something for each of the characters in Twin Peaks, whether it be sympathy, empathy, comradeship, disgust, hatred... never has a TV series managed to wring quite as much emotion from is viewers, without resorting to the emotional manipulation which is all too common these days.
There are a number of cameos in Twin Peaks, notably from blues-rock crooner Chris Isaak, from David Duchovny (soon to become famous in his own right as Mulder in the X-Files) and even...
