..., but Lucy Pearl is a bit more of an ear-friendly effort. The real gem of the album comes as 'You', track 14, with Q-Tip and Snoop Dogg. It's infinitely listenable. A well-produced R&B-hip-hop crossover track. Follows that, is the only 'skit' on the CD, and a marching band interpretation of Dance Tonight. This may sound crap, but it is suprisingly good! Not many R&B groups can... a) have a marching band on their CD b) make it actually sound really good. So, it's a really good achievement. It has many really good tracks like Dance Tonight, a major hit over in the US of A, with oodles of real R&B smoothness. Another favourite of mine is Without You, a slightly more up-tempo, piano tune with scratches and really good stereo panning. ...Being a Spice Girls fan from day 1, I was eagerly awaiting the release of the girls' third album, Forever. Having heard the first single from the album, Holler I didn't think I would be disappointed. On first listen of the album, I was disappointed. However, after a few listens the songs grew on me, and I was pleased that they had tried venturing into some r&b. Unfortunately, if you're music tastes are slowly maturing like mine, you will realise it isn't a revolutionary album. I do believe though, that if you are a Spice Girls fan, you will enjoy this album as it is well produced and has a mix of music including, catchy r&b, pop ballads and some dancy tunes. On the other hand, this album is no longer in my cd player, and the title is not appropriate as I believe it is the end of The Spice Girls.... Read review

...Sisqo's album is amazing. The tracks are catchy and unforgetable. It has the classic "Thong Song" and also "Incomplete". It's R&B at it's best, i'd recommend it to anyone into R&B. There are no offensive lyrics. Some of the lyrics are sexual, that's just Sisqo's way. All tracks get you up and dancing and the CD is digitally enhanced so you can watch the music videos on your PC. It has two videos of "Thong Song" , one of which is uncensored and one video of "Got To Get It". It has extra remixes by legendary Artful Dodger and Stargate. ...TQ is a great successful r&B artist, but i think the language he uses is far too vile.....there is no need to contain explicit lyrics like these for songs which are meant to mean something... they are put in there because of the 'image' that has been created & there is a tendancy to just put it in for the sake of it.... the cd covers do state that there are explicit lyrics conrtained, but still this doesn't help most people to enjoy the music....it's all about image, & this has distorted the whole idea of creating original meaningful music.... ...Asian R&B has been around on the mainstream for over twelve months and now Raghav has taken the roles of 'Storyteller' for his debut album. All the songs on his album.. are about his life, which adds a great personal effect to the record. Every song has a theme to it and a tale to tell. The album comes with a variety of songs, some that you could dance to and some that you could fall asleep to. The CD contains a 9-page inlay booklet, which gives you a total transcription of the lyrics, including all the hindi ones. The first track in the Album is 'Lets Work It Out' which just missed the top ten. The song opens with the hindi sample ' Lekhe pehla pehla pyar' originally sang by Asha Bhosle from the movie C.I.D, its a steady paced R&B track, which demonstrates all of Raghavs Vocal talents. ...Comparable to En Vogue, this band are one of the sweetest sounding 'R&B' acts around, but with their fame comes the strain. The never-ending change of line up means that the group continues to hang in the balance. 'The Writing’s On The Wall' is the second album from these splendid chic divas, and now it's gone multi-platinum, could it be the R&B album of the year? Producers on the album include amongst others are Kevin 'She'kspere' Briggs(relatively unknown) and Missy Elliot who gives the band varied music to work their charm on. With clever hooks and drumbeats, and with each song very distinctive, Destiny's Child has a beautiful sound of their own, and I think they have revolutionised this type of music. Disadvantages: Are they really all love songs?

...I brought this song for something to chill out to, and was expecting a CD full of chilled out lovey dovey songs. Obviously, the most well known songs were love songs. To give you an example of some of the newer songs on the CD, there was the Pussycat Dolls Stick Wit U and Akon's Lonely (wouldn't really class this as a love song, but close enough). Then of course, you've got the older stuff such as Usher's My Boo, and R Kelly's Bump and Grind, a personal favourite of mine! To be honset, when I brought the CD I didn't even read the contents of the second disk - I'd already seen the CD advertised and thought I knew whast was on it. I was suprised to find things such as Beyonce's Crazy in love, for those of you who don't know it, it's a loud, summery tune which I definetly don't class as a love song! ...lyrics that compare to no other soul / r&b artist. CD 2 includes such titles as: So amazing (fantastic lyrics!) Heaven knows (brilliant up beat feel) The night i fell in love (for those cosy nights in!) I think i paid around £10 for this double CD, which was an ok price, but could definately have been better. Most Luther fans will not be disappointed with this 'essensials' CD. If you are thinking of buying this, i would suggest looking at his other albums to see if there is any without the poor remixes, and 1 that includes "Dance with my father" (best song ever written!)... ...TLC have again created another original masterpiece which again takes music to another level. I bought this album because I absolutely loved No Scrubs and all the other music I had heard by TLC was brilliant, so I knew that it would be well worth the money. All the tracks on this album are great, my personal fabourites are Unpretty, Shout and No Scrubs, as the album progresses, the songs become more mellow and you can chill out to them. This album is definitely one for the new millennium. This CD is worthwile for anyone who likes TLC or is a fan of R&B, in my opinion it is definitely the best album of 1999 and everyone should buy it if theuy like this sort of music.... Read review

...This is the only Mariah Carey CD I own and I must say I was not at all disappointed with it. Rainbow consists of 14 tracks including funky R&B 'How Much', featuring Usher (remember him?), 'X-Girlfriend' and 'Did I Do That?' as well as many others, and the soulful ballad 'After Tonight'. There's the remix of the hitsingle 'Heartbreaker' and the cover version of Phil Collins 1984 classic, 'Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)' which MAriah gives her own special touch with her powerful voice. Mariah worked with a number of artists to produce this album so it covers many styles of music. I think this album has proved Mariah to be one of the best singers of all time. Is it any wonder she was the bestselling female artist of the 90's? This is certain to have you singing along in no time!... Read review
