Advantages: Comprehensive round up of the big tunes of 2008
Disadvantages: No beyonce! shock, and some horrible non-R&B on CD2

...& Lloyd combine on the absolutely stunning 'Girls all around the world' for a more classy and less pop moment, this may be a track that you'll hear for the first time on this CD. Things get a little more into the pop-hip hop territory with Soulja Boy's brainless 'Crank That' and yet more Lil Wayne with his 'Lollipop'. Two club bangers for sure. One of the biggest all-guy R&B acts to hit the US this year was 'The Dream' and 2 of their big hits of 2008, Falsetto and Baby featuring LL Cool J both appear towards the end of the first 20. Welcome inclusions. As well as the understated and beautiful 'Way That I love You' from Ashanti. Moving onto CD 2, another 20 tracks with no particular thought process to their placings. An R&B CD showcasing the biggest hits of 2008 would not be complete without an appearance from Rihanna, and she starts things...

Essential R&B? Is it?

Advantages: Light, easy listening, well known tunes
Disadvantages: Some dodgy songs on there

...Essential R&B.... let's see shall we... The first song on this album is Eamon's F*** it. Pretty good way to start the album, admittedly its an old tune now but it probably was the most popular and most played (well one of the) of 2004. Who didn't hear that song? It includes a lot of the most popular chart songs of 2004 and before, such as 50 Cent's In Da Club, R Kelly's Ignition Remix, another classic, and Usher's You got it Bad. The songs on the album are varied - there's a couple of hip hop type songs, a few slower songs that are more love songs than anything, and of course, a lot of R&B. The second disk starts with Outkast's Hey Ya, which gets the disk off to a good start! No Scrubs and Hot in Herre are also present, as well as, strangely, Natasha Bedingfield's Single? Review of Essential R&B - The Very Best Of R&B Summer 2004 - Various Artists

R&B Yearbook 2006

Advantages: Songs for all moods, happy, sad, angry etc.
Disadvantages: A couple of dud songs on there to watch out for

...and a great song for any occasion. The next song by Justin Timberlake entitled "Like I love You" is a good song, but the ending seems to go on forever with him simply talking over the backing music. Apart from the ending its a good track. One word "uplifting". This song will put a smile on your face for sure. A classic song sung well by a great artist. Keisha White, "I Choose Life" Not a big Britney fan I'm afraid, but "Toxic" is without a doubt one of the biggest tracks of the last few years so it had a right to be put on this album (even if it isn't really technically classed as R&B). "I'm Sprung" by T-Pain is an unusual song. His voice has been played with in places (as in Cher's song "Believe") and I am not a fan of that kind of thing. The song isn't much either in my opinion. "Like You" is a song by the young artist Bow Wow...

Essential R n B : Hit or miss?

Advantages: Good songs from good artists
Disadvantages: Not exactly a love album

...that game' and heart tugging Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful'. Yet my only reservation is that the album doesn't really fill the criteria of being a love album; where are boys to men? or Luther Vandross? Or any other of the infamous romantic R & B singers. In this respect it was a little disappointing. However, as an overall CD, it's good. If you like the featured artists, buy it. It's easy on the ears - definitely one that can be played in the background....

Advantages: Lots of big R&B tracks

Something to confuse you

...I brought this song for something to chill out to, and was expecting a CD full of chilled out lovey dovey songs. Obviously, the most well known songs were love songs. To give you an example of some of the newer songs on the CD, there was the Pussycat Dolls Stick Wit U and Akon's Lonely (wouldn't really class this as a love song, but close enough). Then of course, you've got the older stuff such as Usher's My Boo, and R Kelly's Bump and Grind, a personal favourite of mine! To be honset, when I brought the CD I didn't even read the contents of the second disk - I'd already seen the CD advertised and thought I knew whast was on it. Sexy "Poppy" R & B

Advantages: some great tracks, good use of samples, infectious, great vocals
Disadvantages: the apparently requisite not-so-good album tracks

...From the first time I heard the song "On My Knees", I knew The 411 were no average girl group. For one thing, they weren't producing the regulation bland pop that groups such as Atomic Kitten do with increasingly regularity - their music had a slight edge to it and, even just in that one track, they managed to convey more than one music style, while still appealing to the pop market. And their album, "Between the Sheets" shows more of the same. ...Christmas is fast approaching , and so beings as I havn't written a new review for around two weeks , I thought I would write a review on something Chrismassy and this is where the film Love Actually comes into it. Love Actually is a British film which comes under the romantic comedy genre. It was released in the United Kingdom in 2003 and was directed by Richard Curtis. The film stars many 'big names' including Hugh Grant , Keira Knightley and Alan Rickman as well as a few other well known actors and actresses. Running time of the movie is 135 minutes ( two hours and fifteen minutes) The film as the title suggest is based on love.
