A410: I'd use it again

Advantages: Decent quality for a 3mp camera, reasonable feature set, very cheap second-hand
Disadvantages: No manual controls, max ISO only 200, poor movie mode

...The Canon PowerShot A410 is perhaps not a camera you would consider nowadays, seeing as it has a resolution of a mere 3.2 megapixels, and in any case the A4xx range is already up to A480! However, if you can find one going cheap - I was lucky enough to grab one from the small ads for a tenner - you might be surprised at how capable it still actually is. It takes two AA batteries and SD memory cards, so neither of those essentials will break the bank. Do use high-capacity NimH rechargeables, though, as alkalines don't last very long! The A410 is quite small, if not down in the ultra-compact end of the market. However, it is not particularly slim, so is not really a camera to slip unobtrusively into a trouser pocket or small bag. Olympus EVOLT E-410. A little SLR for a little price

Advantages: Small, Light, Inexpensive, Easy menus and options
Disadvantages: Manual/Auto focus switching is awkward and can not accommodate macro rings

Disadvantages: editing software needs to be purchased

If by the other hand, you are like me a photomaniac you want the best from your E-410 and you will go for the RAW format. The software that comes with the camera is reasonable but can?t understand why I have to pay for Olympus product. Other excellent packages are available with better quality and for the same price (i.e. ACDsee). If you decide to purchase this kind of software, make sure it recognizes ORF extension as not all of them it will. This is definitely a down side for this product. The Olympus E410 is my ideal camera.

Advantages: Light weight for a dSLR; excellent image quality.
Disadvantages: Fiddly to operate while wearing mountaineering gloves!

At the time, they also had Epson 3 year extended warranty packs for £35, so I grabbed one of these too. The printer was delivered free in three days. Upon receipt and opening the massive box, it was instantly apparent that the R2880 is built really well. It has some real weight to it, and the panels all line up superbly. The OLYMPUS E410 is A pleasure to use

Advantages: Lightweight , fun to use , Great Picture quality , endless range of functions , well priced

...After using a compact digital cameras for a 5 years, I decided to update to a more professional slr camera for college, and while looking around, the OLYMPUS E410 certainly stood out for me. It is very light weight compared to all the other SLR's and a pleasure to use , as well as being comfortable to hold , unlike some of the more bulky SLR's. Upgrading from a compact digital camera to the E410 has been much easier , down to the "Live Function" that this camera has, so you can take shots through the LCD Screen , instead of just the view finder , which is an uncommon feature for allot of SLR cameras ,and is also very useful. It also has plenty of functions and scene's, From "Low and High Key", "to Candle scene", even settings to take pictures of documents. i feel it was a great investment and would certainly recomend this...

...After 3 years and 54,000 miles, driving a Civic Type-R is hard work. Yes, the seats are comfy, yes the handling is pin-sharp and, yes it is good fun to drive down twisty country lanes. But 4,000rpm at motorway speeds makes for a very noisy place to be. Firm suspension isn't kind on the back and the lack of extras leave it feeling a little Spartan. So despite all the plus-points, motorway driving, which makes up most of my miles, is a chore. With my contract up for renewal I needed something a bit more "mature". Something a bit less boy-racer. Something that I could give a lift to colleagues in without them having to clamber through passenger door to the back. Something a bit more comfortable than the bare-bones Honda.
