...For any of you contemplating the purchase of a s/h R850GS, I owned one for 12 months last year and would endorse it as the "best" bike I have ever owned. For two and a half months I traveled Europe from the battle fields of Ypres through Normandy, Brittany , to the Dordoine. Then accross the French Alps into Italy. Right accross Italy to Austria via the Brenner Pass, then down to Vienna. Back to Bavaria, then along lake constance accross into France again and via Champagne, Poitiers and central France to Calais and Home. throughout this journey, the GS performed impeccably, no breakdowns,glitches or any problem, even one stretch where I was in the saddle from 9am to 9am travelling right accross France, she didn't miss a beat. Advantages: Real BMW, docile, light feel, enough power, pulls well all gears, economical, good handling
Disadvantages: Needed higher saddle, and variable height options on bars.

...Riding 45 years, Police, courier, instructional and pleasure (BMs since a T reg R100RS 1978) now having two new knees and having sold an R1100RS, and an R1200, I felt I needed a lighter feel for my native Yorkshire dales and Scottish island trips, yet have a biggish bike around me. ( I'm 6' 1") I also felt a more docile performance without big engine grunt and go more suited me for current and prospective use. The R850R does it all. Very well! The 6 speed box is well spaced, 1 and 2 are bit low for me on tarmac but very controllable on loose with only throttle trickle style like on trials needed, the softer response from the 850 engine stopping wheel slip and potential slide. The luggage carrying capacity solo using rear seat is as good as a big cruiser with a carrier, and it still pulls well. It pulls from 30mph upwards in 6th... Read review

Advantages: compact, cute, cheap, low insureance, great second car for the family, or 1st car for new drivers!
Disadvantages: tinny, feels cheap, image is crap, colours are tacky, dealers spread far and wide!

...This is .....or should i say was the cheapest car on the road at the end of the 90's and up to 2002. It ceased production in 2002, and was replaced by a new perodua model. GX FORM and SPEC! All nippas are 5 door, 3door models are not an option, this is good consodering it was cheapest new car on road at little over £5500!! There is only 2 specs in the nippas range EX and GX GX is bout £800 more, but hell you get a lot more, the GX boasts, Sunroof, Radio casttee, alarm, metalic paint, plush wheel trims, as the Ex is as basic as well basic! But Gx is probably just as well equiped as its rivels, and probably has as much as a base model fiat. Value and second hand values!
