BBC Radio 1 Review

Advantages: Great Djs, Good music, Funny

...Hi today i will be reviewing BBC Radio 1. I usually listen to Radio 1 at night as its something to do while trying to get to sleep (not a bad thing!). I personally enjoy the Chris Moyles Show and Scott Mills mainly because I find Chris funny and Scott has some great features from the old angry pizza man wind up to the new Whats Becky's Forté which features Becky the Assistant Producer trying to find that talent she excels at. The Chris Moyles show is different than most other shows on Radio 1 in that its not just the presenter that gets involved the whole team have a great time and in turn help you to get ready for whatever your going to. During the day there is Jo Whiley, Sarah Cox and Edith Bowman. I personally don't listen to these just because I'm usually busy. For the few times I have listened to them they do film...

Another Winner~ Real Radio

Advantages: Worldwide, Funny, Different, Cool
Disadvantages: None Really

...A real review on real radio 100 to 101 fm I thought about doing this review for such a long time~ So here goes. **A little about Real Radio Scotland** Real radio is Scotland's number one commercial radio station with 649,000 adult listeners per week. Review of Real Radio Scotland

Radio 2 -- Easy Listening With Style!

Advantages: Diverse shows that appeal across the spectrum
Disadvantages: The mix can be a little strange at times.

...I always find it surprising as to the diversity of Radio 2, the schedule on any given night could contain a short half hour program about Folk music and another night a program about Theatre organs can be heard, I have listened to both and realised there is more to life than listening to such stations as Happy FM (or Capital) that tend to play the same record over and over again every two hours. Besdes these stations appear to be aimed at someone about 15 years younger than myself anyway. Radio 2 on the other hand caters for people of my age and boy they certainly deliver, I always tend to be in the car coming home or going somewhere when Elaine Paige is broadcasting. Sometimes the journey can be from hell at worst and other times just damn right boring. So to experience the diversity that Radio 2 offer on a Sunday is a bonus...

My local Radio Station

Advantages: Peak shows are excellent
Disadvantages: None

...My local Radio Station. Let me tell you a bit about my local radio station. Based in Liverpool city centre in the most prominent of positions visible for miles around is what is now know as the Radio City Tower. Prior to Radio City taking over this venue a few years ago it had been left empty when the previous occupant vacated. Initially it was a revolving restaurant the top of a tower. Tower is cylindrical in shape and looks like it has a large flying saucer sitting on the top with radio antenna sticking up into the sky. Transmission coverage - North West and North Wales but if you do not live in the area you can always listen in on line. What do they do. Well they are a commercial radio station so there are always adverts between the songs but this is how they keep going and are able to grow every year into...

Disadvantages: Not freely available to all - Dig TV/DAB/Internet needed

...Radio 6 is a recent addition to the BBC?s fine network of radio stations. This station may come as a surprise to you, or you may have seen trailers for it on BBC TV. The station is not available on your traditional FM or AM tuners, as it is an entirely digital entity ? and FM is not digital. Radio 5. Live?

Advantages: Can be good
Disadvantages: Can be bloomin' awful!

...Radio 5 Live is a curious amalgam of programming. There is a predominance of live sports coverage, with perhaps less specialist news programming than would be idea. If they could get this balance right, then Radio 5 Live would be well on the way to being perfect. I do not like Nicky Campbell. I am sorry about this, but there's something about Mr Campbell that I can't quite take to. I know he is a very bright and clever person, (first class honours in history, or so I seem to recall) but after listening to his broadcasts I get the impression that Nicky Campbell is thinking: "God, yes! Aren't I the clever one?!" Even so, Nicky Campbell is a good, professional broadcaster, as are most of the other broadcasters on Radio 5 Live. There are some Paxman wannabes who's interview techneique and grasp on reality leaves a lot to be desired...

The Radio Station of Choice

Advantages: Wide Range of Music and Presenters
Disadvantages: Not so good for evening listening

...Radio 2 has become my radio of choice, I will be honest and say that I used to mock listeners to the station as old fuddy duddies but have to admit that my view has changed. As a fan of Chris Evans I moved to Radio 2 after a long period of listening to Virgin Radio (even though Evans involvement had finished). From the breakfast show with the long standing Terry Wogan through to Drivetime with Chris Evans there is a good mix of music and presenters. Terry and his Breakfast Show is entertaining and I do find that I enjoy the chat that goes on and the interplay between Terry and various members of the traffic and news teams is fun. None moreso than John 'Boggy' Marsh who even has his own series of tales told about him in the now infamous 'Janet & John' stories. Fantastic remote but mediocre radio reception

Advantages: Ease of use, build quality, problem free remote control feature
Disadvantages: Mediocre radio reception, bit expensive I suppose

...First of all; my impression/opinion on the radio function of this is that its mediocre at best. The radio reception can be OK then the next minute it will be crackly, I will also add that I went into the settings on my iPod (which it tells you to do in the radio remote's instruction guide) and choose the correct country for radio frequency purposes, but it didn't make any real difference, so like I have said the radio function for me is mediocre at best. After plugging in the radio remote, there will be a new menu feature called radio; if you select this and then press and hold the back or forward button, the iPod will tune to the next available radio station, if the signal is strong enough you will receive RDS (this is a feature that shows the station name and other relevant station information). Radio Borders - Scottish Borders and North Northumberland

Advantages: Good presenters. Local news. Great music.
Disadvantages: Takes networked shows during evening and night. No frequent news service on the hour after 7pm.

...I live outside of Radio Border's transmission service area, but can still receive this station quite clearly on 96.8 (from the Selkirk transmitter) in my home town of Prudhoe in the Tyne Valley. Radio Borders is a full-service station, playing music from the 60's to todays current chart sounds. Radio Borders is a 24 hour station with local content from 6.00 AM until 7.00 PM Monday to Friday. At weekends, this extends to 10.00 PM. Programmes from 6.00 PM on Saturday and 7.00 PM on Sunday are generally of a specialist nature. After this, the station links up to Clyde 1 for the overnight sustaining service, primarily playing current chart sounds and a talk show. Radio Borders also takes Hit40UK (Network Chart Show) on Sunday 4.00 PM until 7.00 PM. Local news is on the hour until 7.00PM....
