Raising Helen

Advantages: Certificate PG so it's suitable for nearly everyone
Disadvantages: The cinema is expensive and this film is very average

...Mirren is seen as being quite nasty just because she has a successful career and the fact that she's child-free is something held up as not being right. As for the men, with the exception of Pastor Dan - Helen's love interest - they seem to have no part in anything domestic. Hopefully, this film is pure escapism and nobody's life is like that. Part of the problem with this film is the director. The same man directed "Pretty Woman" and that film also has a sanitised, glamourised view of the world, especially regarding prostitution. I would imagine that people who do live in New York who watch "Raising Helen" would hardly recognise what is meant to be representation of them and their world. As for dealing with grief, that's more or less glossed over. "Raising Helen" might raise a smile or two but don't expect a particularly demanding...

Raising The Stakes

Advantages: THE classic Dirk Pitt novel
Disadvantages: Not a good as some of his later works

...For regular readers of mine (there must be a few) you will note this isn't my first review of a bok by this author. In previous reviews I have stated which of the Dirk Pitt series I consider to be the best and I stick by those opinions. However all great things have to develop from something and for most people there this a clear turning point where something good becomes something great. For me 'Raise The Titanic' is the turning point for this author and this character, it set the benchmark and helped get the series noticed by a bigger audience. I think this helped later sales enormously. For those of you unfamilar with Clive Cussler he has sold over 125 million books and has had 19 consecutive best sellers on the New York Times best sellers list. Hell Raising at its Best

Advantages: Great storyline, great plot, great characters

Raise The Alarm!!!

Advantages: A new very strong sound, with much variation throughout the album
Disadvantages: Maybe not to everyones taste, but definitely a good future for the band

...for the duration of the song, which has a constant steady pace. "I Ain't Losing Any Sleep" starts at a slow pace and slowly picks up a bit more speed, giving a strong chorus, and a steady speed throughout. "My Army" picks up the pace a bit more after the previous track. Not the best on the album but still pretty good. "Raise The Alarm" is the last listed track on the album and is another with a great beat and bass-line. It ends with quite a full sound, picking up speed towards the very end, with a lot of experimental noises and a good ending. But wait, there's a hidden track. The extra track on the end of "Raise The Alarm", starts with a beat similar to "Bloc Party's- Banquet" and continues with a strong bass and guitar. Strong vocals, just gives the album a more dramatic exit, a bit of an encore. This is a great album with a new sound...
