...Colin McRae Rally is one of the best racing games I have ever played, and now particularly it is on budget at a very reasonable price I would urge anyone who is slightly interested in motor sport or any racing related computer games to get out and buy it! Before you feel like trying to mix with the big boys for real in the rally championship why not try a course at Colin's Rally school? This could have been done better, but you can get the basics like hand break turns done to perfection. Still nothing beats racing for real and the school if truth were told is pretty lame. There are a total of 56 tracks spread through actual countries in the world rally championship, including Australian, Monte Carlo, New Zealand, Greece, Corsica, UK, Indonesia and Sweden. Rally good fun

This is one of those games that occupies the middle ground between all-out simulation and knockabout arcade action. The next best thing to actual Rallying

Advantages: Very high level of detail, good control and the rally cars are recreated very well.
Disadvantages: Can be slow on older machines, and the sound effects are not brilliant.

...Rally Championship was one of the first games I bought for my PC, one that I was not sure if it would run on my old 486. I was suprised that it did, although it was slightly slow and I had to have a small screen display box, but I got the idea. The level of detail is excellent, with very complex rally stages, based on real events. The cars are as close to the real thing as possible and are recreated exactly. You can mess around with the setup of the cars as well. You can choose from I think it's six different cars, the Subaru Impreza, Ford, Skoda, Proton, Volkswagen and Renault. The cars look great. The sound effects are also very good. I found the game very hard at first, but it soon gets easier with practice. I found the guides for the corners very useful and the gameplay is excellent. You really do feel like you are there racing...

Great rally sim

Advantages: Stunning selectionof point to point courses, highly realistic graphics, varied multiplayer modes, complex physics model that reacts precisely to different road surfaces and ; careful craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident throughout.
Disadvantages: Off-road driving is not entirely accurate, the audio is inconsistent, the garage is basic, car can withstand far too much damage and owners of low end systems need not apply

...Of all the games i review, rally/driving games are one of my favourites. Although its fairly old, i still enjoy the game. Before you get behind the wheel, however, you better decide how you are going to play. Rally Championship offers numerous alternatives, including a Practice mode that allows you to freely explore the game's many courses, and an Arcade mode complete with reverse tracks, checkpoints, and traffic. Sadly, the Arcade mode isn't a wise choice if you're an action fan, because the computer controlled AI cars seem to be unaware of your presence. Rally Championship wasn't made for the arcade crowd anyway. The game consists of 6 individual rallies, each with half a dozen separate stages ranging in duration from 6 to 25 minutes and featuring every imaginable terrain and weather condition. Real Rallying

Advantages: Fast, Realistic, Tutorial

...Colin McRae Rally is an excellent game, all of the tracks and realism are very good. The handling of the cars is superb (even better with a Microsoft Steering Wheel) and the feel for speed is very good. One of the really good things about this game is the tutorial that basically takes you step by step through stages, at the end of each stage you get a score and can only progress to the next when you achieve a certain percentage. Once you have completed the tutorial at all levels, you are ready for the real challenge of rallying. The game is quite hard to master, I recommend starting at the easy level and try to become the champion before attempting the medium and hard levels. This is about the best rallying game on the market, anybody that likes driving fast and on the edge, should invest in this game....

Overlooked Arcade Rally Game

Advantages: 60fps+, lots of cars, cars are paintable, higher res. than N64 version

...A few years back I had an N64, and for the N64 I had a game called Top Gear Rally which was one of the best N64 racers. I found out that there was a PC version, so I had to get it for old times sake. That is what Boss Rally basically is, a PC port of an N64 game. Installation is easy, as it is with most win9x games, and took a few minutes. It then asks for your 3D card, I couldnt find support for a Voodoo3, but Direct3D support worked well. The game starts you off with two cars (an Escort and a Lancia), and only 2 tracks, which could be at first offputting, but continue on and you will earn many more cars, from Minis, Imprezas, BMWs and more, and more tracks. There are more cars in Boss Rally than N64 euro TGR, as well as an extra track, Laguna Seca, albeit called "race" as they had no licence. The lack of licence also means...

A Good Alround Rally Game !

...Sega Rally 2 This game has the greatest gameplay and graphics that will have you up all night playing and loving it. You won?t stop until you have completed the circuits like me. I really did like this game and it is even better with the steering wheel if you?re lucky enough to have one. It?s an arcade excitement you want Sega Rally 2 will do the job. However long term appeal is unlikely. You want be let down if you play this game. It?s one of the best out yet. ...I bought a Playstation 3 New Years Eve and had Sega Rally as a free game with it. I had Sega Rally on the Dreamcast so wanted this game for a while. You can play as one or two player (quite a few of the driving games are one player only, so this is an advantage). If you play as one player obviously you have the whole screen and you have a co-driver giving directions. In one player you can play; championship and win points to unlock other championships. Quick race - Alpine, Canyon, Arctic or Tropical. Time Attack custom your own car, You are the only car on the track trying to achieve the quickest time, you can post your time online or download a ghost car to compete against. The best rally game

...! Thankfully they have made a repair mode to get your car back to normal showroom condition. The actual driving is where Colin McRae Rally 2.0 excels. The handling is fantastic with great power slides following one corner to the next that respond realistically to vigorous driver input. Road surfaces changes also have an effect on the way the car is controlled. More could have been done with the surface qualities at the edge of the track, such as slush, puddles and rocks which would impede the careless driver.
