Disadvantages: A bit expencive for an average system!

...I purchased the OCZ 2gb (2 x 1gb) Platinum ram when i revamped my PC. What a difference it makes! I have never been able to open so many applications, and switch between them so quickly. The installation was very quick. One complication though. Although the packet does not tell you, the ram runs at 2.2 volts, not 1.8 which computer are default set to. This is because the ram is designed for gaming, and so is more power hungry. If the voltage is not changed the ram will not run as quickly, and there will be no point buying the ram. To adjust the voltage is easy, just enter into the bios settings of the motherboard, buy clicking one of the F buttons while the computer loads up. ...Kingston Value RAM is probally the best WhiteBox Solution.This Product will be fully tested when you get it and come with a lifetime warrenty and is probally the only one that i have ever had with this sort of Support. Prices for this module are a little bit higher than in some other places but it is well worth the extra cost. I use these modules and run them in dual channel on new machines. I have never had a customer which has returned a PC with a memory fault or any fault that had kingston memory. The chips work very well. I have run memory tests on them and they never show up with an error. On the whole this is probally the memory you want to go for if you are looking for value RAM.... Read review

Advantages: four gigabyts of ram! very fast, cheap, only slots into one slot
Disadvantages: not many, wont work with older operating systems

..., and started looking for the slots for the DRAM, they were locate din the most hard to find place possible, with all the wires crowding it, I had a hard job trying to install it. Because I already had 512MB of RAM installed already, I could have a total of 4.5GB of RAM, more than some people can boast of. Now I can shut them up! This RAM, unlike others, only takes up one slot, some RAM made by manufacturers take up to four slots which is kind of useless, seeing as most computers currently have only tow slots for the RAM. After I installed the RAM, I restarted the computer, and to my surprise, total surprise, windows 2K had recognised it and it ram surprisingly fast, with minimal programs running that is. I was happy with what I had brought, now I have fewer crashes, and the new RAM saves me time because I can multi-task easier now. I think... Read review

...Unfortunately the link to the Corsair XMS2 DRAM 2GB PC2-6400 C4 only goes to this page. So here's where I'll write my review! I'm going to just go ahead and state it right at the beginning - this is some excellent memory. It's fast (800mhz), it has lower timings (4-4-4-12), it's reliable, and it's very cheap. You can pick the 2GB set of two modules up from £35 anywhere now, which is a phenomenally low price. That's really the hallmark of this product - low price, high quality. At the moment, unless you're running games in Windows Vista, there's really no need to have 4GB of memory; even the most demanding game you can run won't use more than 2GB RAM. ...well when i bought my new rig 5 months ago i spent a small fortune on the graphics card so started looking for some good priced and branded ram with good timings i stumbled upon the geil ram and it looked perfect i purchased the GeIL Value Dual Channel 2 GB DDR SDRAM kit and i now run itin my new box on an asus a8r-mvp motherboard with a 3.5 64 bit chip in it. my rig is mainly used for gaming hence the need for a good graphics card and good ram this ram has performed very well in both dual and single channel mode currently i am running it in dual channel mode and combined with the rest of the pc i can run battlefiled 2 at max settings with no lag and still achieve 90 fps overall for the money you cannot go wrong with this ram the heatsinks on it look good and do work well.... ...There is a vast amount of DDR2 memory on the market at the moment. Most sets are brilliant value whatever area you are coming from. With 2GB being the standard now (4GB is useless unless you own a 64Bit version of Windows XP or Vista which is very unlikely) you can land some brilliant deals, even for less than £60. Of course if you are an enthusiast there is RAM especially made for you which can run at high frequencies and cope with increased heat loads. The OCZ Flex 2GB PC-9200 is one such set of RAM. If you don't know what "overclocking" or "watercooling" is in PC terms then this RAM is not for you. You have be able to tweak your system to be able to get the most out of this ram.
