BETTER THAN BLUNT.

Advantages: Superb artist that merits attention.
Disadvantages: French language may put some people off trying his music.

...I have been listening to French music for the past ten years, and in doing so have seen new singers come and go, have compared styles, and none has impressed me as much as that produced in the new album of Raphael. Review of Caravane - Raphael

Gorgeous, poetic and compelling

Advantages: Great sound quality, beautiful songs
Disadvantages: A couple of slightly weaker songs

...I enjoy French music a great deal and I have been a fan of Raphael Haroche for several years, since I made an impulse purchase of his third studio album: 'Caravane'. His voice is stunning, his lyrics original and poetic. Last month, on holiday in Paris I stumbled upon 'Résistance à La Nuit: Live 2006'. The album was recorded over three concerts at Le Zénith de Paris in June 2006. I'm not normally a fan of live albums, but I had the opportunity to listen to a little of the CD in the shop and decided that the quality seemed good enough for me to take a chance on it. Boy, am I glad I did! The easiest way to review this is to take it track-by-track. 'Funamble' This was the closing track on Raphael's last studio album, 'Caravane'. Raphael Ensemble's Rainbow of Emotions

Advantages: Haunting, passionate music to get lost in.
Disadvantages: It's classical and this puts people off before they even try it.

I only have one example of Schubert in my collection (Rosamund) and quite enjoy it so thought I would give this a go too. So off to the Library I went and returned clutching The Raphael Ensemble?s superb rendition of the String quintet. Oh joy ? Oh heaven I seem to have hit the jackpot of chamber music. One Of Those Tonies Bringing The '60s Back

Brilliant for a weekend getaway to Hamburg

...I lived in Hamburg for a few months in 2006 and so I was keen to take my family there for a weekend when the Christmas market was there. After looking at various hotels we decided to stay in the Best Western St Raphael. Location: The hotel is only a few minutes away from the main train station (and U-bahn stops - Hauptbahnhof Nord and Hauptbahnhof Sued) and also the bus station so if you fly into Luebeck then you're only a few minutes from your bus to or from the airport which is especially handy as the flights often arrive or depart early or late at night. The Alster and town centre are only a walk away too! Rooms: The rooms vary in terms of style and size. We booked two rooms and one seemed to have been decorated by a local artist. What's happened to Sally?

Disadvantages: Becoming plain annoying lately

...Sally J Raphael used to be very good but just recently it seems to have gone down hill rapidly. The topics used to be quite varied and some of them were quite emotional, but nowadays it seems as though it's the same subject every day but with different guests. The most annoying thing about Sally now is that she seems to spend more time looking into the camera than she does talking to the guests. While I realise that viewers are important, I just wish she'd give more attention to the guests. The subjects covered have gone downhill rapidly too, and I think the programme is starting to become too much like Jerry Springer. The only topics they seem to cover at the moment are troubled teens and cheating lovers. If only they would go back to how it was and have more challenging issues....

hilarious - but not supposed to be!!!!!!!

...Sally Jesse Raphael's show is really very funny - that guests are the stangests people apart from maybe the Jerry Springer show. She talks to the guests in a deep and ridiculously slow voice which maybe appropriate for some of the audience members to keep up (joking, of course!) Then cue Pat Ferrari, Sally's sidekick who tells it like it is - sidesplitingly hilarious! The topics of the shows are pretty similar - I was a geek in school now look at me! and mothers at their wits end bringing on spoilt children which they cannot discipline and so are sent to boot camp to straighten them out....

Don't mess with Sally

...Sally Jessy Raphael is a Sky 1 American talk show. Sally herself is a red haired, don?t mess with me type of mother figure. The show is on weekdays at various times between 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. Ideal for filling the time in-between the children going and coming from school. Unlike Jerry Springer Sally?s show does not tolerate violence. In fact Sally herself has on occasions told guests to leave if they get too rowdy or start swearing too much.
