MMMM TASTY CHOW!

Advantages: Quick and Easy
Disadvantages: It smells, your mouth smells, your house smells!

...Tesco Chicken Chow Mein - Ready meals Since I have moved out of the family home I have become a bit of a fan of ready meals, and being as there's a Tesco within a stone's throw away I've become even more of a slob! I bought a meal from the fresh section as something I could take to work, however, I always try out a meal in the house first so that I know I will not waste it in work if I don't like it. I picked up this one for £2.27 for 450g. So it's quite pricey for an individual fresh meal, considering that the Frozen meals are often buy a few for a set price. # The packaging The red range is for all oriental ready meals. The picture on the front is of noodles, chicken and peppers. It looks colourful and delicious. The inner dish is a comical, rather large plastic bowl with a clear plastic film lid. (I find it...

Chow main for me

Advantages: You get to eat chinese food!
Disadvantages: not the healthiest option

...I love Chinese food so much! But as it can be quite expensive I turn to the supermarkets to help me out. At Tesco's I can always rely on good prices, when I went to the Chinese food section i was impressed as they have a lot for selection. I am writing this review based on the fresh prepared ready meal of Tesco's own chicken chow main. It takes about 20 minutes to cook in the oven 190c/375f or in the microwave on full power for 5 minutes. I cook mine in the oven as I can do other jobs around the house while it's cooking and the smell coming from the oven always makes me want the food more and therefore enjoy eating it, but that could just be me and my weird eating habits. Anyway, the chow main I have found always has plenty of chicken pieces in, which is nice as I hate feel that I've be hard done by. The chicken after...

I Do Love Raymond

Advantages: Some absolutely hilarious and clever episodes
Disadvantages: If you can't get into it, but I don't relate to you

...When I first heard people talking about Everybody Loves Raymond, I honestly thought nothing of it. I presumed it was just another one of those nothing American comedies, and decided I'd just stick to 'Friends' and the like. It was the sort of show people would watch before going to school in the mornings, not the sort of show you'd stay in at night for and with that in mind I never really wanted to make any effort to watch it. Not until having nothing to do in the daytime and sitting down to a Paramount Comedy double bill have I seen what an absolutely brilliant show it is. The very first episode aired on the 13th September 1996, when I was just 7 years old. From there it went on to be a weekly hit, with 22 episodes making up its debut season. Those episodes are; Pilot, I Love You, I Wish I Were Gus, Standard Deviation, Look Don...

Vesta Chow Mein

Advantages: Easy to cook. Can use microwave.
Disadvantages: Fairly high salt content.

...I love Vesta Chow Mein it is so simple to prepare and it tastes great! Total preparation time is 25 minutes. Sometimes if my partner is late home I dont really want to be cooking a dinner late in the evening so the chow mein is good for providing a tasty meal in no time at all. You can cook on the hob or use a microwave, to be honest I have never cooked it on the hob as the microwave option is so easy as you can leave it cooking without having to watch it which means I can be getting on with other things. Quite simply empty the chow mein packet and the soft noodle packet into a bowl and stir in 525mls of boiling water then microwave for 5 mins then stir then microwave another 5 mins - easy peasy! With this dish you get crispy noodles which are divine, a little tricky to get right if you dont have a deep fat fryer like me...

Everybody Loves Raymond - Series 2

Advantages: Hilarious, fantastic characters, critically acclaimed comedy
Disadvantages: None Just watch it

...Rays Here Hahaaa!! Everybody loves Raymond is an Emmy award winning TV sitcom that ran from 1996 to 2005. It is one of the most critically acclaimed television series of all time, backedy by the number of awards that it one. The series follows the life of Ray Barone, a sports writer for his own column in a newspaper. He has a wife named Debra, a daughter and 2 twin year old boys. His parents live across the street, and older brother lives with them. Im beginning to sound like the intro of the show lol. The program is based loosely on the event of Ray Romano's life and so are the characters. "The Characters" Ray Romano is the protagonist character in the program. His whiny nazal voice, facial expressions and laughs make you in turn smile at the tv and laugh along with his performance. His character is always enthusiastic...

Everybody Loves Raymond

Advantages: Entertaining, educational and emotional
Disadvantages: Slightly too long and drags in places.

...● Synopsis When Charlie Babbit (Tom Cruise) discovers that the huge inheritance he believed he was entitled to has been put into trust for an autistic brother, Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), that he didn't even know existed he takes matters into his own hands. Kidnapping Raymond from the care home, that he has lived in for the most of his life, the two go on a road trip back to Los Angeles, and learn about each other and life along the way. ● Opinion Sometimes the Hollywood glitz machine manages to deliver a film which is not only commercially entertaining but is also educational in its subject matter. One such film is 1988's "Rain Man", an exceptional film which not only won the Oscar for Best Picture but also showed that a film can have everything from a decent story, fine performances, humour, emotion, drama, despair...

Quick grub not just for the Chinese.

Advantages: Quick and easy. Very tasty
Disadvantages: Expensive. Don't serve 2!!!

...After just eating my lunch, I was interested to see what fellow Ciaoers had to say about Vesta's Chow Mein's. Imagine my surprise then that no-one had actually written a review of these fantastic meals. Well I don't want anyone missing out on these just because they have no information so I decided that I will do a review myself on the product. So here goes... Vesta's Chow Mein comes from any major supermarkets and nowadays from local convinience stores as well. Costing anywhere in the region of £1.80-£3, they say that they serve 2. However, I don't believe this for an instant. In my humble opinion, these meals are a perfect size for one person to eat on their own. If they were shared between 2 people, then I would imagine that you would have to eat something with it. The product comes in a cuboid package, coloured in black, yellow...

A safe haven from thinking too hard

Advantages: easy to read, fast-paced, vaguely fun
Disadvantages: utter nonsense

...through this, I'm not exactly recommending it. Part of the new sub-genre of Da Vinci Code-esque thrillers, there's nothing startling original about the plot. Take one age-old secret, bring it into the modern day where various good- and bad-guys are trying to get their hands on it, and throw in enough action to distract you from the sheer hokum. I don't read many books like this (well, let's face it - I'm utterly dismissing it already!), but this reminded me both of the ubiquitous DVC, and a great deal of Kate Mosse's Labyrinth - particularly the chapters flicking back to the past. And, as ever, it's those brief glimpses backwards that are by far the more interesting. In this case, they follow someone with a huge secret: a secret author Raymond Khoury teases out way beyond irritation point. Like Dan Brown (in Digital Fortress, half...

Cinema Chow

Advantages: absolutely everything!!!
Disadvantages: they're not free!!!!

...chow for me, every time I go to see a movie at the cinema - theres only one thing that'll keep me going if its a bad film - a bag of M and M's but a 500 gram doozie, not your smaller size, tell you what this size isn't a bad indication for if I enjoyed the movie or not - if theres any left then depending on how many, I usually enjoyed it, the more left at the end, the more I enjoyed the film, if we run out early and find ourselves running to the foyer to buy more, then the movies a stinker. (depending on wether bought from cinema or store anything from 69p to £1.99) Star Wars size (The 200 gram tubes - tube/lightsabre - get it?, jeez this is harder than I thought) - The type you usually find yourself bringing back with you for friends when you're on holiday (or in my case - empty tubes), they're meant to be kept for whenever you need...
