...Held this RBS card for over a decade. In that time I have have just this one dispute where the on-line merchant did not send all of the goods purchased. I disputed the transaction with RBS. I send every document asked for as soon as it was asked for. They said I was clearly in my right as the merchandise was not delivered to me as the merchant had advertised and I paid for. Then RBS sends me a letter saying I did not comply within 60 days of the dispute. RBS, TAKE YOUR CARD AND SHOVE IT!I closed my account as soon as that letter was delivered. I did everything they asked of me, when it was asked of me and they closed my dispute because they said I did not comply within the 60 days?!?!?! Do NOT get sucked into this POS bank people. Quiet, unassuming and nothing for loyalty

Advantages: Good customer service, Excellent Introductory int rate

...RBS Advanta Platinum Reserve - sounds good doesn't it? and to be fair they have been good. How to save pounds on your Credit cards

Advantages: Discounts for new customers.
Disadvantages: Average APR after discounts finish

...I have always been a heavy user of credit cards, mainly because when it comes to the end of the month I am always broke as I get paid monthly (YUK). Since I was 18 years old I have always had 2 credit cards, one a TSB Visa and the other a Barclaycard Gold card Visa. The main benefit of the RBS card is that when new customers transfer balances from your old credit cards you get a low introductory rate of only 3.9 percent compared to the normal rates of about 18 to 20 percent for six months. I transferred just over £2000 from the above cards and I am currently saving £30 per month which is worth while as I transfer when they were doing a special offer of 1.9 percent. Advantages: good telephone servicing
Disadvantages: slow application service, no online service

...The only thing that differentiates RBS Advanta from other cards is that it is slow and disorganised for the most part, and the perks of having the card aren’t that great. Post application telephone customer service staff are quite good, but it’s not something that I really need. I saw the ads for it and it sounded great-0% interest on both balance transfers and new purchases, free travel insurance if you purchase a holiday on your card and a whole list of other things, as well as having the security of knowing that it's from the Royal Bank of Scotland. Money For Nothing and Cheques For Free

...So, what's this all about then ? Well, for anyone with a bit of discipline the RBS Advanta card offers an excellent money making opportunity. While other cards offer moneyback schemes or points schemes to encourage you to spend on their card the RBS Advanta card doesn't go for this. However .... there is a VERY nice little angle available on this card, and you don't have to spend to benefit. Many cards have an interest free period on spending, but don't have an interest free period on balance transfers - the RBS Advanta card isn't like that - it offers interest free periods on both !! So what do you have to do ? Well, it comes with balance transfer cheques, so open a high interset account, pay in up to your limit and wait for the bill to come in. When the bill comes in, simply pay it off in time and start all over...

RBS Credit Card

Advantages: interest free for 6 months
Disadvantages: poor relation of the rbs slow transfers poor customer service

...the RBS is an ok bank but the RBS Credit Card (Mastercard) is the poor relation and does not deserve the RBS brand I made some transfers into the RBS credit card at the same time and earlier than my RBS account and a Visa credit card and guess what ... the RBS take days longer for payments to be received to the account. When you call them you have to call the 0870 premium rate number (as opposed to my other banks being 0845 and 0800 nos) Most of the menu's are frustrating though the RBS cred card is slightly more infuriating than the average. The frustration really hits home when you have to try and have a conversation as the staff struggle with the question 'has any money been paid IN' or 'credited' or 'received' and they are keen to give a lecture about how a payment in was actually a 'refund' (which actually wasn't the case) This...

I explained about being a student and they told me that I’d definitely be eligible, and that all I had to do was fill in an application form, send it off and I’d get my Highline card. RBS are OK.

Advantages: Excellent customer service and easy to get to a branch.
Disadvantages: Interest Paying Current Account and internet sharedealing on the market

.... The main gripe I have with RBS has been their "Interest Paying Current Account". I can't believe they use Interest paying in the title, when all you get is a mere 0.1% per annum. They do have higher paying current accounts available, however paying thier monthly fee would cost more than the extra interest I would get. The Royalties accounts do offer a wide range of discounts and offers, but I don't use enough of them to make it worthwhile. The really maddening thing is that when you go into the overdraft you get charged nearly 30%!! It just doesn't seem fair. Another problem has been with their internet sharedealing service. Using their service for purchasing in the market does not always yield the best price going. There is a limit price option, but I find this can leave a trade open for a while before you find out if it has been filled...
