...In 1981 soul music legend Diana Ross hit the headlines when it was announced that after twenty successful years she was fleeing Motown Records for a whopping $20,000,000 deal with RCA Records. Ross had signed to Motown records at the tender age of 16 and gradually became the labels biggest selling artist. Motown was the pioneering record label in black music and Ross and the companys boss Berry Gordy had helped change and shape the whole face of black music in the twentieth century. Ross went to Berry Gordy to see if he could match RCA Records' deal for $20,000,000 but he simply told her he could not afford such an extravagent deal and pointed out to her that she would not be afforded the same lavish care and attention her career had always received elsewhere. Diana Ross's RCA Records Debut Album

Advantages: Contains a few great tracks
Disadvantages: A few weak links

...Diana Ross' brand new life at RCA Records kicked off to a promising start both personally and professionally. She enjoyed the satisfaction she'd craved for so long in producing and generally being a more creative force with her studio albums. Diana virtually controlled every aspect of this album right down to the revealing cover shot where she is dressed in a startling zebra-skin outfit which she had incidentally designed herself. Aided by six studio technicians, Diana produced all 9 tracks on the Why Do Fools Fall In Love album which was belatedly released in September 1981, six months after its origanal schedule date. For somebody who had never produced an entire album before she certainly did remarkably well. Oddly enough the premier RCA single would be the cover version of Frankie Lymon And The Teenagers classic hit...

Advantages: Good Sound Quality, Stylish

...Excellent speakers with a good bass, a rarely need either the volume or bass turned up above 50%, and I probably still annoy the neightbours with these. Green/Black/Orange connectors for full 5.1 surround sound from your PC, or use the provided "games console adapter" to use the red and white RCA audio output from your Xbox or Playstation Worth remembering that these are PC speakers, and so the cables arent massively long, so probabl aren't suitale for your living room. They are however, perfectly ample for an average bedroom. Each speaker can be swiveled on its stand to allow it to stand either upright on a desk, or at 90 degrees to the bass for wall mounting. The centre speaker mounts well ontop of a flatscreen monitor. Definately worth the £50...

Certainly works for me.

Advantages: Light and easy to use ,great sound quality
Disadvantages: none to date

...on a gig with my band I use a small stereo mini jack to RCA/phono connector ( about £3 from radio shack) plug it into the headphone output on the shuffle and this allows me to play it through the bands PA system, I hit the random play and away we go instant DJ support for my band. The boys in the band could not believe the sound quality coming from some thing so small.Can't be bad. Battery life so far seems to be very good and the 1gb storage is ample for me ( 240 four minute songs) as it is so easy to up and download songs and edit your play list through itunes. I also bought the wall charger for it . This was £19.99 from apple plus shipping although I now notice that it can be found cheaper from the likes of Jigsaw24 online. All in all I consider this to be a great little piece of kit....

Great for anyone DJ and homeowner alike

Advantages: Pioneer quality, many features, great sound

They can be hooked up by analog RCA cables, quarter inch cables, and the ones I bought came with an adapter to go from XLR to quarter inch. They have automatic tempo control to speed up or slow down a song as well as the ability to do it manually by turning the cover of the disc drive. They even have bells and whisltes of adding sound effects to a song, remember and repeat playing just portions of the song and giving different treble and bass levels. They are extremely durable the two we used at Red Square Nightclub living through being dropped, being stepped on by a 340lbs dj, having beer and rum spilt on them and the untold amount of dust in the dank dark bar we...

...was pleased to see that the box was well packed and there were very clear instructions - only 1 page. Everything was pre-wired which not only makes it very easy to install, but also prevents you being tempted to install improved cables etc (I'm a bit prone to that!) The only disadvantage is that if you want to put, say the subwoofer across the other side of the room then you have a real problem. Anyway, I achieved my desired set up with the attractive black satellite speakers each side of my monitor and the subwoofer tucked away under the desk. The only connections required were connecting the green 3.5mm jack plug into the green audio socket on the PC, and of course the mains plug. If you have equipment with an audio output to 2 RCA sockets, then Logitech thoughtfully supply a lead which has 2 RCA plugs and a 3.5mm jack socket, to make...

...I currently have a Z5500 on my pc, while I have a X-530 on my TV set. Immediate concerns: no digital input; MUST have a 5.1 audio source for all speakers to play. Most DVD players have 5.1 audio output, but they are RCA connectors, and this system has 3 3.5mm headphone jacks for inputs - translation: RadioShack is waiting for you to come and get the RCA/3.5mm headphone adapter, which I was not able to find. Oh, one thing no one has mentioned thus far: if you are using 2-channel audio, such as the signal from a primitive cable box, your rear speakers would get no signal and would therefore be useless - this system MUST have a 5.1 channel input for all speakers to play. So, having made my own connector adapters (without modifying the original connectors) I have this speaker set connected to my DVD player in the living room...

...We decided to dump the old Hi-Fi system and opt for something a little more modern. We chose this medium sized system because we liked its appearance and its sound. You actually get a lot in the machine for your money, such as 3 CD auto changer, 2 full logic tape decks, Dolby Surround Sound, 5 speakers, 100 watts RMS altogether which is distributed over the 5 speakers, 2 AUX RCA connectors for connecting TV and video, or an extra device such as a turntable. The sound is very rich and clear, and the bass is gentle, but good. The construction of the system feels solid and well made. As with all systems these days, a remote control is included which provides access to most of the system's funtions....

Old Owl Eyes Is Back

Advantages: Some Essential Reed Songs

...This was Lou Reed's second solo album, post Velvet Underground, produced under the aegis of his mentor and RCA label mate of the time David Bowie. The album is heavily influenced by "Ziggy" era Bowie, which ironic considering that Bowie was heavily influenced by the work of Reed with the Velvet Underground. Reed influencing Bowie influencing Reed. The album is none the worse for Ziggy's influence. The cover is interesting featuring a scary stark pure black and white photograph of Reed on the front and models representing Reed's male / female personae on the back. There are some fine songs here, opening with the excellent "Vicious" which could have graced a VU album, this is floowed by "Andy's Chest" about Mr Warhol. Next up we have "Perfect Day" which was also the "B" side of the stand out song here "Walk On The Wildside" with that...
