Read It Swap It: Love It!

Advantages: Huge library of books, lots of users, easy to use
Disadvantages: I suppose some dishonest people but they are rare on here

...Now I realise that there are already quite a few reviews on this website, which I am glad about as hopefully it is spreading the word of a superb site.But in the past few weeks, there have been some changes to the Read It Swap It site, so I hope to either introduce to the site if you haven't heard or visited it before, and if you have, then update you on the new features which have been put in place, making it even better than before! The Read It Swap It site does exactly what it says. When you have finished reading a book, or for whatever reason you have a book at home you would like to get rid of, then you list it on this site, and swap it for a book belonging to another member that you actually want to read. All you have to pay is the postage to send your book to your swapping partner, which ranges from about 80 pence for a small...

Read all about it!

Advantages: Great get rid of old books!
Disadvantages: replace them with new ones!

...I have recently discovered this fantastic website 'Read It Swap It' and I am already hooked! The function of this website is to swap used books with others for their used books, and all for FREE (well you do have to pay for postage) this is a fabulous idea and very useful indeed! With up to 66131 books to choose from you are bound to find something you want to read. The website is clearly laid out and very simple to use, the website is not fussy with simple white background and blue writing. The top tool bar is set out with the following links: The Library My Books My Swaps My Details Forums Help Login Logout My Experience: I only signed up to this website last week and I have already added 28 books for swapping, the more books you can add the more swaps you are likely to get. I have had 4 completed swaps so far...

Read it, swap it, love it

Advantages: Huge range of books, easy to use
Disadvantages: Can get frustrating when people refuse your swap

...Have you ever looked at the vast number of books, chained to your shelf, gathering dust, that you've read twice, thought about taking to a car boot sale but have never gotten round it to? Well I have quite a lot, but I can never bring myself round to binning them, even if I have no intention of reading them again. The read it, swap it site is a god send! You sign up and list the books that you dont want anymore, which is a quick and easy process. There are thousands of books and you can search by your favourite author, or the title of a book you saw someone reading on the number 6 bus, or use the recommendations the site magically finds for you by going on your previous ratings for a book, or just aimlessly browse the 'latest in' section or by categories. Once you have seen the book you want, the site shows you people who have that...

Pass it on

Advantages: a good way of passing on unwanted books
Disadvantages: it's always going to have a trust issue attached like anything else on the internet

...I was alerted to this site by another Ciao member, and I'm thankful he steered me in this direction. I usually get my books from the library or Greenmtropolis, or Ebay. Rarely do I buy them new, but my bookshelves have been straining under the weight recently. Rather than sell them all, as I realised on readitswapit.co.uk you can swop your unwanted / read books for new wanted / unread books. *The site* Quickly hop footing it over, I found the site to be very simplistic. There are no annoying graphics cluttering up the screen. Everything is in a shade of blue and white, and seems to run very smoothly and quickly between pages, which is probably due to the lack of jargon. The site saves your email address at your request making logging in easier. *How does it work?* Well first of all you will need to register with the site...

Read all about it!

Advantages: Lightweight, easy to use, excellent battery life
Disadvantages: You will be interrupted from reading to answer a lot of questions!

...I'm sure by now a lot of you will be familiar with eBook readers, an electronic device designed to, for all intents and purposes, act just like a real book. And I'm sure a lot of you think the idea is absolutely ludicrous, that there is no need to make something such as a book, which obviously has stood the test of time just fine as it is, electronic. Well a couple of months ago I decided to splash out on one, having managed to pick up the old model (pictured, only mine is a sexy red!) on sale from John Lewis for £150, as the new touch-screen version was coming out. The new version, I should point out, is twice the price and the upgraded features are not particularly necessary, so I was very happy with my bargain. Here's a question I hear constantly about the Reader: "It's nice and all, but reading on a screen strains your eyes doesn...

Swop shop at its very best!

Advantages: Swop your old unwanted books for new ones you do want!
Disadvantages: May have to request several swops before a swop is accepted

...With people having less and less time to visit the library, it was only going to be a matter of time before an online library was going to be created and that is simply what "readitswapit" is, an online library where you just pay to post your book to your swapper. The website is of a simple design so it is easy for everyone to use and offers over 137242 books with more and more being added each day. It is free to join and free to be a member which is fantastic and will save you so much on buying the latest books and introduce you to books you may not have chosen. Along the top of the web page are various categories: *~*The Library*~* This section contains all the books that are listed for swapping and here is where you can browse for a book you would like to read. *~*My Books*~* This is where you list all of your books...

By theTime You Read This, I will have forgotten it!

Advantages: A typical Chick Lit novel
Disadvantages: Characters a little weak, plot appeals to limited audience.

...entries from Lois 12th birthday until her 30th, the age at which her father died. Kevin Bates wrote the manual when he knew that he was dying in the hope that he could help and advise his only child through growing up, even though he was not going to be around. Once completed, he had passed it to his sister to give to Lois when she reached 12. The plot winds through Lois' life until her thirtieth birthday, taking the reader through her growing pains, relationships and life with input via the Manual, from Lois' father. More I will not say here for fear of spoiling the plot for others! The Author, Publisher Details and Price **Author** ?By the time You Read This? is, as I have previously stated the first book from Lola Jaye. Ms Jaye was born in London. She completed a BSC Degree in Psychology at The University of East London...

It's good to read

Advantages: A child who can read can always do something on that quiet day and when they are not well
Disadvantages: None

...It is a well understood fact that a child who can read well will do better in their education than one who does not read. Childrens literacy is very important. As a parent it is quite important to do your best for your child. To encourage your child to read is very important. It is not always easy. Children show interest in books at different ages or not at all. My oldest child is a girl aged 11. She always has her head in a book. She loves to read and loves to write and I believe she will go far. For her reading has always been enjoyable and so she has had nothing to worry about. However she took some persuading to look at information books rather than just fiction! My next child is a 9 year old boy. When my son was younger and given little story books to read he was not interested. My son prefered to be doing something...

~~~~~~~~~~~~Love it! The loveable read~~~~~~~~~~~~
Advantages: Good mixture of stories, competitions & letters
Disadvantages: Pages are not very quality & they are increasing the price.
...actually advertise separately from their newspaper and actually make more money. The launch of Love it! happened about a month ago with them adding the first edition in with the News of the World free of charge. They then released the second edition in the shops for 30p which of course was a true bargain a 66 page magazine for 30p cant be realistic and of course it wasn't this was just a price to get you lured in after 3 weeks of getting a bargain weekly magazine the price has now gone up to 60p probably the average going rate for such a simple magazine. Will the price go up? Who knows probably will do but only if the magazine improves will people pay the higher premium for such reading material. I know a lot of people are very sceptical about new magazines on the market and especially women's weekly's there are just so many around...
The Best Come Back I Have Ever Made
Advantages: very cheap way to get books, good selection
Disadvantages: could be more technically functional
...ReadItSwapIt is, as the name suggests, an Internet book swapping site. The principle is simple: you list the books you have for sale, which become visible to other members; you can search books listed by other members. Once you find a book you would like, you can request a swap and if the member in question sees anything they want in your list, they indicate which book they want to swap and all that's left to do is packing and posting. Alternatively, other members can request to swap a book of yours and after perusing their collection, you can either indicate the title you want in return, or decline the swap (there is a number of ready-made reasons provided, from the obvious "I don't want to read any of their books" to "I am not ready to post now, but try soon"). There is a feedback system (and some safeguards against abuse...
