...Red alert, red alert, it’s a catastrophe. Goes the single, red alert, a catastrophe, however this albumn is not! With the stand out tracks Red alert , rondezvous and bingo bango, which were all singles, youd think that there was not much else on the album. But after a couple of listens it becomes clear that this is certainly not the case, these guys have worked hard on this album and with a bit of patience on your part, it has payed off. Nice! However its not all brilliant it has a few dogy songs not naming any, make your own mind up.... Read review

Advantages: Great Gameplay, Unique plot
Disadvantages: Only 2 player internet play

...This most certainly is one of if not the best strategy games I have ever played. The story line combines realism and fantasy to produce one which is clearly unique and never seen before. The game is about a post-war conflict between the allies and the soviets. In the plot Stalin attempts to take over europe whilst the allies attempt to stop him. Depending on what size you choose, you get a good selection of missions to play and videos to watch. However, very popular amongst many Red-Alert players is the Internet play capabilities. Although slightly outdated only supporting two players, Westwood Online makes it oh so wasy to play Red-Alert on the internet to get even more enjoyment out of a very enjoyable game. Lets hope that Red-Alert 2 lives up to the stadards of Red Alert.... Read review

Advantages: Fun to play

...Red Alert 2 is the follow up to the classic original. The original was a classic game, and I guess for this reason Westwood didn't change the game too much. But in doing this they have made a game which is basically Red Alert with a few new units and better graphics. Now in no way am I saying that Red Alert 2 is bad, it just lacks originality. There are a lot of new units, but also a lot of omissions from the last game (no mine layers, no fake structures). The game is well balanced, but I can't help feeling I'm just playing Red Alert with knobs on. There are no innovative new features, the only good thing is the great online play. This allows you take part in a massive ranking system, and playing and winning/losing to random players all goes to give you an overall ranking of all online Red Alert Fans. Advantages: a classic album
Disadvantages: its rough no one aint heard of them

...A brilliant album from red alert. Opens with The only voice a faced pace punk song with a big rock and roll start. Red Alert are very much a little bit of clash mixed with a little sham69 and a little bit of Bon jovi/Queen The guitarist plays like he's in Bon Jovi and they do a fantastic pumped up version of Blood on Blood. The lead vocalist sounds like a typical geordie after a friday night session but gives it everything especially on the big ballard Forever. A fantastic 100 mile an hour version of clash's Safe European Home and Red Alert show an emotional side in the acoustic I'll wave goodbye. The standout track comes then, Visca el Barca an amazing song which changes style musically 3 times. It starts off like a like spanish minstral folk song then Volume and adrenaline is wacked to the max and hardcore punk takes over and the song... Read review

...The original Command & Conquer was released in 1995, since then the series has become one of if not the most popular line of games for the PC, Westwood then released Red Alert (1999) followed by Tiberian Sun (1999), Red Alert 2 (2000) and most recently Generals (2003). Command & Conquer and Tiberian Sun both consist of two sides GDI or the Global Defence Initiative and the Brotherhood of NOD, whereas Red Alert and Red Alert 2 featured the Allies versus the Soviets. Red Alert 2 allows you to play both the Allied and Soviet campaigns. It features 12 allied missions and 12 soviet missions as well as a very basic tutorial. I would say that the units you may buy in Red Alert 2 are quite balanced whether you play as the Allies or Soviets, however I believe that the expansion pack Yuri's Revenge tips the scales a little as the soviets... ...Red Alert is the best game of it’s kind I have ever played. The sequel to command & conquer, Red Alert consists of two CD’s, that of the allies, and that of the soviets. You choose a side, and then fight their missions for them to dominate the world. The missions are very innovative, and are great fun, you are briefed by the game characters before each mission begins, which ensures that you know what the hell you are supposed to be doing. The graphics are fairly good, although they don’t need to be perfect due to the nature of the game play. Another great feature of this game is the skirmish and network support modes, which allow up to 6 teams to compete against each other on a map of your choice. The red alert map editor allows you to design your own map, which means that no two skirmishes will ever play the same way... Read review

...Red Alert was a great game when it came out. A great improvement to Command and Conquer, the game came with some rather funky internet playing abilities that, at the time were the business. The game itself was predictable in format, yet still managed to be a vast improvement on the all-together blocky graphics of Command and Conquer and the gameplay that had proved some addictive in the original was also mastered. The units had been altered to the historical pretence and yet some of the new types of technology introduced seemed to alter the balance somewhat for experienced players, who found the Allied armies at a disadvantage to the cheap Soviet manpower and Tesla-coil defences. This imbalance mostly comes into play when in human-human gaming though, and the in-built scenarios are fair and challenging. There are three difficulty... Read review

...Firstly - the bad points. It is not THAT dissimilar to all the other Red Alert games. There are still no proper 3D graphics or game engine. The AI is still not incredibly intelligent. Now though - the good points. It is a very good game whether you play the AI, the campaigns or another human via a network/the internet. The enhanced graphics and new units make it a good sequel to the classic that was Red Alert. Each country has at least one unit that is unique to itself - this is a good point because it leads to more variety in games. Online playing is a lot easier and the co operative mode gives an alternative when you are bored of being beaten up by other players :D All in all i say that Red Alert 2 is worth the money i spent on it (which was around £35 when it first came out) and i wouldnt not be without it. ...Command and Conqueror Red alert 2, the greatest fighting sim on PC ever in my opinion. The graphics may be a bit original but the game is so addictive and is great to play online. Here is some information about Command and Conqueror Red Alert 2: You can choose from many international armies on the game including: THE UK, THE US,GERMANY,RUSSIA,CUBA,IRAQ,LIBYA,FRANCE etc. these armies are put into two groups, the allies and the soviets. In certain armies you can get paras, rocketeers, british snipers, normal infantry, attack dogs, engineers and not to forget the fantastic tanya who can blow up buildings and kill a group of 5 infantry or more with no problem. Tanks featured in the game: Teslas, IFVs, Mirages, Rhinos, Flak tracks,V3 rockets, apocalypses, etc etc. The tanks are the strongest part of your army, they can be built quickly... Read review

..."Red Alert, Red Alert, It's a catastrophe. But Don't worry. Don't panic. Ain't nothing going on but history, yeah. It's all right. Don't panic. And the music keeps on playing on and on." The lyrics themselves are not quite outstanding, but the entirity of the track fits together and produces an end product which surpasses a lot of the aimed-at-charts dance that was released around the same time. Definately a get-up-and-dance track, and the best track Basement Jaxx have ever released. If you haven't heard this by now or if you don't think this is true you might as well go back to your Buddy Holly albums...... Read review
