"THE REF" WHY CHANGE THE TITLE?

Advantages: Very funny / very cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Wot no special features

...Once there was film called "Hostile Hostages" starring Kevin Spacey and Denis Leary and some other woman whose name I can't remember from any other film and this film was hilarious. Then due some overwhelming terrorist incident in 2001 the name was changed to avoid offending stupid people because as we all know stupid people are offended by seeing a word and cannot find the time to understand the context as their satisficing nature prevents it. Still the film became known as "The Ref" for no apparent reason. There are no footballs, no field of dreams and no whistles to be seen, but anyway back to the review: This film is very very funny. Ref 150 Mk II

Advantages: sound quality easlly high enough for true hi fi stereo applications, flexibility, controls, price
Disadvantages: understated looks, no go faster branding.

...This is a personal review of the MJ Acoustics Ref 150 mkII as owner of this product. I have run an Audio Note valve SET system for a couple of years now, having migrated from Solid State and huge power amps and tower speakers to the flea powered world of valve amplifiers and efficient horn/hybrid speakers. Thus this review is primary based on observations in my own valve system which consists of components of a pretty high quality to start with. Setting up. Allow a full day to do this, a weekend or whatever. The sub arrived in substantial box, well packed, and is supplied with: RCA lead (5m), Speakon lead (5m), power cord, 4 x optional floor spikes, remote, separate remote eye sensor, user manual. I set up the Ref 150 to run from the RCA pre-out connection, preferring this to the high level Speakon connection. I did try...

Come on ref had to be a foul

Advantages: Great game, very playable, easy to master.
Disadvantages: to many options

..., change formation, change tactics, change defensive style. Edit player positions, choose who is the team captain the free kick taker and the penalty taker. In the match it's self if you use the right analogue stick and different combinations your player will attempt to do different tricks. You will also notice a radar at the bottom of the screen showing you where your players are use this to great effect and play some amazing football. However the refs do tend to play advantage even on bad tackles but a gauranteed card is from behind Overall the graphics are good the sound is good and the sfx are very relevant. This game is for footballers everywhere as you can score a goal from almost any position on the pitch and the advanced controls are easy to master so even the worst player can pull off tricks. ...I have just come home from a second division football match and thought that I just had to make my opinion heard on referees. Most of us watch premiership games, and with the aid of replays we can all criticise refs and indeed linesmen, or, referee assistants. But, if you are a regular visitor of a lower division club you would have noticed the terrible decline in refereeing standards. Some decisions can make or break a game, and if the decisions are incorrect can benefit the offending team as opposed to the team playing their heart out and playing it clean. The thing that bugs me the most is the fact that these refs are paid very good money to do a professional job, so why do they act as though they are in the middle of a Sunday pub game? If the ref makes a terrible decision then why is he or she not punished? Why isn't the ref banned...

Are you blind ref?

Advantages: Original and fun way to play
Disadvantages: does get competitive

...When I first got this game i had a right laugh with my brother as we played each other. The fun is endless as you kick your opponents up in the air trying to win the ball and produce shot hard enougth to send the toughest of goalies intot he back of the net. Unrealistic football at its best as you use your power up gauge to perform inhuman feats like run 80mph down the wing or severely hurt your opponents (not to mention sometimes the ref). The controls are not difficult as there is very little you need to learn. Only how to knock your opponent flying and then run close enough to the goal to send a shot flying. The game is hard though. At first in the one player mode you will be beating teams 20-0 but as you progress you will have to play special teams like the Gods and will regulary get beaten with ease. The reward of beating such teams...
